If you're craving Unagi (eel) or really good sashimi, there is no place in at least a 30 mile radius that beats this restaurant. I was recently in Japan and this place has the same quality Unagi as the two Michelin star restaurant I went to in Tokyo. That fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture of well cooked unagi is near impossible to find in the US. But it's here y'all. Also, you have to get the Omakase here. The chef gives you the best cuts they have and that's how you eat good sushi! The pieces just melt in your mouth. The staff were very attentive but also kind enough to not interrupt our conversations. It's a really cute restaurant that has authentic Japanese decor -- an awesome place for first dates or meals with friends!Oh, I also forgot to mention -- the chef recommended us a really good sake called Shichida and wow, it was one of the best sakes I've ever had. Coming back for sure.

Reviews for this restaurant was so high that I decided to give this place a try. On top of that reviews, the exterior was really cute; so cute exterior = good foods right? WRONG. We ordered tonkutsu ramen, spicy garlic edamame, and spicy tuna crispy rice appetizer. Tonkutsu ramen size was very small for 15$ price tag. Never have I ever seen a ramen with a fully boiled egg. And the broth came out was Lukewarm while the ramen noodle was hot. Weirdest ramen I've had in a long time. The only thing that was decently good was the spicy edamame, only after soy sauce was added since it's very sweet. I can't complain about the service since they were attentive. I saw their omakase deal which was actually a pretty good deal but not sure if it'll be back to try it. Would've been better experience overall if the foods were good.

An honor roll celebration and our Valentines Sushi tradition brought my daughter and I in yesterday. We loved the Yellowtail Carpaccio, Melting Albacore, Spider Roll and a few others. Everything was delicious and my daughter commented twice on how cute it was inside. We had such a nice time and it was fun they have Ramune to order too!! I had been here once years ago and was happy to come back, it's as good as I always remember. Everyone was so nice and we even ran into some church friends my daughter had just met at camp while we were there, too!!

I love this place! This is my family's "go-to" sushi spots in Rancho. We usually go in to eat. But yesterday we decided to order to go. Everything was great, from the presentation to condiments and utensils. I felt I was there while I was eating at home.

One of the worst sushi restaurants I have probably been to! The food was lower than mediocre, it just didn't taste fresh and the rolls were kind of mushy on the inside. For example, the suma roll had brown mushy avocado inside and a soggy piece of shrimp tempura. The imitation crab also had too much mayo mixed in. The "roll" ended up being a random protein style burrito looking roll. There was also a random leaf that kind of looked like it was found from outside. The tiger and rainbow roll were mediocre but still didn't seem to use too fresh of seafood. Lastly, the shrimp tempura portion was not very good -- there were three small looking pieces and it wasn't really fried well either. The vegetable tempura portion and quality also wasn't good at all. Seemed like it was frozen grocery store bought tempura to be honest.Service was okay, they didn't come too often until we almost finished the food and then kept asking us if we wanted a to go box even though we were still eating. I don't think I'll be coming back. I'd rather try soup n' fresh which is just next door. On the plus side, there is plenty of space in the parking lot!

If u are looking for a sushi restaurant that never fails, u should go to Yatai sushi! I like the vibe of the restaurant feels like a small town in Japan. Also the service was impeccable and I liked the menu that stood out well. Try the menu with the sake recommended by the chef. Me and my friend really enjoyed that dinner combination a lot!!

After Hyato closed in Claremont we've struggled to find a somewhat traditional sushi spot. Fancy cocktails, hip fushion experiments, and loud music aren't our thing. Our experience at Yatai was very nice; good food, pleasant servers, and a very nice selection of Sake. Looking forward to our next visit. Tip: if you like wasabi on your sushi let your server or the sushi chef know. Ours came without.
