Huge recreation space, so many different amenities to try, overall a pretty nice recreation center. After 4 years of coming here to the student rec center at UCR, I've decided to write a Yelp review. There have been so many changes over the years to the gym here at UCR, mostly to try to better the place. They've moved things around, made things nicer, added more things, and overall improved the gym space but adding things like extra power racks and now they have a weight sled on the second floor.Service is generally friendly but usually whenever I ask the front desk for things, they seem lost or they act like they don't care about anything.Overall, I do think that this recreation center is a lot nicer than other the other UCs.Some of my complaints include that they refuse to have higher dumbbell limits, since the highest dumbbells only go up to 100. I know it's not in-demand to have them, but if students need to progress, you'd think they'd add more weights.I also don't like that they got rid of some of the leg machines downstairs and moved them upstairs. By doing that, you're making students become even more lazy from doing leg workouts more often and you've created a chicken leg epidemic! hahaIf you're coming to this gym from outside of the university, I believe that they have guest passes for $5. But if you're from UCR, I highly suggest utilizing this gym because it's included in your tuition.

The SRC is definitely the nicest gym I've ever been too. They have two floors, both of which are covered in machinery. They have any type of weight training you need, an indoor track, beautiful pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, and almost anything you need. The equipment is kept clean, and you can use the rooms to do floor training when classes aren't being held. Speaking of classes - they have people come and teach Zumba, Pilates, or again - anything you need. Water stations on both floors, and clean bathrooms on both floors as well. Sometimes the SRC gets crowded, but that's mostly after the New Years. If you avoid prime hours of working out you'll have no problem getting the machines you need. However, even if it is crowded, you'll still get what you need with a short wait time.If you're a student or have the opportunity to use this gym, I strongly recommend it!

Great equipment. It gets VERY busy after 5. People take a while to finish sets but they try their best to be quick.People tend to be beginners at the gym so remember that you should refer to online sources to learn form, rather than watching someone who is SWOLE AF and pushing tons of weight.Pool is heater all year round. I'll go for a swim for cardio even when it's raining! If you go to school here, please enjoy the gym at least once. It's included in tuition so might as well run, swim lift, or do a free yoga class. We have spin classes too!! It's the best gym I've ever been to.

This is where I worked out at most of my time at UCR. By far the best place to work out that I have ever been to. It has just about everything you need. You got a huge weight room, cardio area, dance rooms, racketball rooms, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, track and field, basketball courts, ping pong table, and badminton. The only thing missing here is a swimming pool but hey that might be in the works also. Also not to mention the outdoor excursion stuff they got here. Best place to work out, any activity is just a heart beat away. Positives:Tons of ways to get in shape. Negatives:Gets overcrowded, especially during New Years resolutions time and the newbie freshmens.

The student center is what you should expect from a college. I came here to study and do my homework when I was attending this school. Easy to get to and I use it as a place to meet others while I was attending there. Sometimes they even have activities that are interesting for us to observe and even engage in.

Used to go here often for 2 classes, particularly 1. Cardio Kickboxing & The Body Bootcamp class with Crystle (Krystal?) Banta! I loved that latter class. She left the place about 2 years ago now though. But man was she amazing! I owe it to her, where I've learned most of my fitness tips. She personally trained one of my good friends for awhile, too. She was a black belt I believe, being trained by her dad. Super intense. But she also had this amazing body to prove it. We had done plenty of plyometrics and cardio routines with a mix of kickboxing.Overall, the gym was pretty small but I know they've recently renovated the place by extending the building with an indoor pool. I did enjoy using their badminton courts as well as their racquetball courts. All included as part of being a student here.

This place is great. I really enjoy being able to workout for free. I'm currently a UCR student and spends up to two to three hours at the gym daily, so I can say I know gyms. Equipment) fairly new stuff. The machines, bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills are really nice and they are always working. Rooms) they have aerobic room, basketball court, and racquetball for starters. They also have a one floor weight machines free and regular machines (I call them the girlie ones). This room is probably the most full at peak hours, although it's the room I use the most... so call me bias. Cleanliness) I give them a A+, this is because most student who work here also workout. These guys, especially in the weight room, are always putting the weights away and in their proper place (one of my pet-peeves). In addition, they have those little spray cleaner bottles next to all cardio machines, which clearly says "wipe the machine after your done dude!"The only reason I don't, and won't, give this place a five star is because it does not have a five star amenities, for example, towel service, pool, sauna, steam room, etc. and in reality a gym has to have all that to be a real-five star gym.

This review is only for the parking for the soccer field. Never heard of a place that charges to park for a child's soccer practice. Needless to say, I parked without paying the money and came to a "warning" on my windshield. I guess the silver lining was the warning and not the fine. I'll know for next time.. that is if I return.
