Free and entertaining. I recommend for people who have an appreciation for the art of photo-taking and/or cameras. I came here on a Saturday afternoon, after having brunch in Arcade Downtown next door, for a fun and free date in downtown Riverside. You can get your fill of the museum in about 1 hour. When I visited, the third floor was not open but I say it takes about 30 minutes tops to view each floor with ease. The place is very spacious and cool. You get to see displays of old cameras and there is even an interactive piece where you wear goggles to get the full affect of the image.I came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was not crowded at all. More times than not, you are able to have an entire room to yourself to admire the pieces alone. You can find free parking in the parking garages nearby. The nearest one is on Orange Street. There is free all day parking on the weekends for Garages 1, 2, and 3 in downtown Riverside.

Located off campus, they show emerging artists and first time contemporary art surveys. Metered parking/parking structures are nearby. Originally located at UC Riverside in the early 60's, exhibitions have involved new media, painting issues, photography, and popular culture. The director, Tyler Stallings has a background in art writing as well as philosophy. This venue emphasizes new materials or the relationship between art and life, such as international issues, technology, and the body.

Am a fan of free and giving a donation instead. The space was well lit with natural light. The staff is nice and there is quite a bit of literature about the exhibit to read. Every exhibit had a thorough explanation of the art presented and were unique from one another.I would come back to this art gallery and would recommend seeing the Intelligent Design exhibit once. It isn't for everyone though.

I definitely support the UCR ARTSblock Initiative downtown. An added bonus is that if you hate jury duty cause you dont get paid enough...well now you can gain free admittance for doing your civic duty. I love this area and I think it makes the downtown area an increasingly great place to go to on the weekends and stroll around. I definitely recommend going to the Sweeny and the Culver center...ten catch Annie at the Fox Theater...Love Riverside...Spread the love.
