Tokyo Kitchen - Worth Every Penny!I have no idea why Tokyo Kitchen doesn't have a higher rating--because my experience has been nothing but fantastic! Hands down, this is my favorite hibachi spots in the area. The service? Always great. The food? Consistently delicious.I recently took my two 21-year-old nephews here, and after years of visiting Japanese grills, they declared this one of the best they've ever been to. High praise coming from seasoned hibachi fans! But the real highlight? They had never done a sake bomb before. So, as the fun aunt, I had a responsibility--Sake bombs all around! (I'll let them explain that one to their mother. )I also don't get the complaints about pricing. These prices are exactly what you'd expect for this type of restaurant, and unlike their competitors (looking at you, Benihana), they don't charge extra for the yummy sauce! That alone is a win in my book. The portions are generous, the chefs are entertaining, and I never go home hungry. If you're on the fence, just go. You won't regret it! #SakeBombsAndHibachi #YummySauceIncluded

In response to the owners response to my review...she wasn't there. I was and I was also with my husband and 2 sons. This is clearly the staff trying to save their behind and paying more attention to drinking in the job (fact), a sushi chef walking out unexectedly (fact) and not only myself left with no meal at all (fact), but also my son didn't receive his either (fact). The waiter clearly stated that the sushi chef had received the order that he turned in. For TWO of the easiest rolls to make. #FACTS

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is consistently delicious, it is fun to chat with the chefs, the staff of friendly and cheerful. I highly recommend Tokyo Kitchen! If you haven't tried them you really should. If you haven't been in a bit you should. Ambiance i really love it! They redecorated/branded and it looks very good.

I am responding to Theresa R review from last night. As a restaurant patron, I was there and saw exactly what happed. How she discribe it is 100% true and correct. Don't believe the owners response, she is trying to save face by distorting the truth. I saw the owner yell at the sushi chef and another employee. Unprofessional and I will never go back there. No wonder their rating continues to drop. Miss the old owners.

This was our first time ever coming and we had a party of 5 with a baby. The whole experience, from beginning to end, was absolutely incredible.Upon checking in, we waited for 15 minutes, and were then seated and served drinks as well as an appetizer, the Palm Springs roll. We are on keto so we are avoiding eating too much rice or carbs. Our server was Julian, who was hands down the best server I've had in quite sometime! My wife and I went with the filet shrimp and filet and lobster, which I think was some of the best we've had. Instead of the rice, we asked for more vegetables. The chef we had was very fun and welcoming, he made sure to do the fun things for the kids and crack some jokes to keep the party engaged. My daughter got a vegetable noodles, but she was not too hungry, so she didn't eat too much. The miso soup and salad salad as good, and we also ordered sake, but it was a citrus/lemon type of sake that was chilled and very tasteful. Overall, it was worth it and we will be coming back as well as recommending to others!

Flavor: 4/5 - I really enjoyed my unagi don. However, I can't speak for the teppanyaki since I haven't tried it yet.Price: 2/5 - The prices are exceptionally high, and the portion/quality doesn't quite match up.Quality: 2.5/5 - Some in-house recipes seemed tasty, but unfortunately, nothing was labeled as organic. The presence of additives and oil quality is unknown. I expect more with such a high price point. Service: 5/5 - Our server, Julian, was fantastic. He knows how to cater to a crowd and made the overall experience worthwhile.Ambiance: The atmosphere is upscale, teppanyaki-focused, and exudes a fun vibe.

I'm completely at a loss for words! I have never been so dumbfounded...My husband, myself and my son have been coming to Tokyo Kitchen for 40 years. We have watched all the changes and supported that restaurant through it all. My husband and I walked in tonight to have Sushi and celebrate Valentine's Day together. We are there once a week with our favorite Sushi chef Supay. First off the environment seemed different tonight... We had just begun to enjoy our dinner when a bartender SERVER we have not seen before comes to the sushi bar with the OWNER and starts a confrontation with SUPAY. They were loudly screaming and yelling at him three feet from us. She was Obnoxious and EXTREMELY RUDE!! We were so uncomfortable and so embarrassed for SUPAY so I Kindly asked her to stop that it was inappropriate to do this in front of us. And then to my surprise the OWNER Turns her Anger to me and my husband, Screaming at us to mind our own business... At that point we decided it was time to leave. Then her and I believe her partner or husband followed us through the restaurant yelling at us in front of All the customers all the way to the door and out to the parking lot continuing to Scream at us... Telling us not ever come back again. Because I asked her and the bartender server to please stop yelling at our Sushi Chef. We were uncomfortably embarrassed and humiliated by both of their behavior! As I said we have been supporting Tokyo Kitchen once a week for 40 years! We asked them to stop. They would not! My husband thought he was going to have to fight for me because the owner lady was rushing me and getting in my face like she wanted to physically attack me. I honestly can't believe what happened... I've been in business in Upland for 35 years. This is NOT HOW YOU TREAT YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS. The only thing I can say is, I wish I had recorded her behavior, but I was so in shock at the way she was treating my husband and I that I didn't think to turn my camera on her! You truly need to learn etiquette and how to treat your customers! It's absolutely unacceptable to have confrontation with your employees in front of customers! Your the most unprofessional business owner and a very unkind human! Thank you very much for ruining my husband and I's Valentine's Day! All I can say is we WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN! We spend $200 a week there. We also celebrate our birthdays, anniversaries and other holidays there! We Will miss you SUPAY. Hopefully you will find a new place to work. We will follow you wherever you go. Your the reason we go there!

Just had a very disappointing experience and will never return to Tokyo Kitchen. We were a party of 10 celebrating a birthday and very excited to eat at one of the birthday girl's favorite places. I had a reservation for 7 pm and we were seated quickly. After about10 minutes our server came over to get our drink order, the restaurant was busy so I understood why it took a little longer. 15 minutes later a group of four people were seated at the table right next to us and it was very obvious they knew one of the owners or managers because he quickly walked over to them greeted them and got them complementary sake shots. At this point we have been sitting for 35 minutes with no salad or soup. After the other table finished their sake shots our waitress brings the salad and soup serves the other table first then serves us but misses giving a soup to one of the 3, nine year old boys we have at our table. After an hour of sitting a cook finally arrives but starts to talk to the table of 4 and begins prepping to cook for them. I said excuse me 3 times to the cook when he finally turns around, while he rolls his eyes at me. I let him know that we have been waiting for over an hour why are you starting with them. He says someone will he with us in a minute. At this point I went to talk to the manager. Who refused to come out to talk to me and instead one of the other workers listened to my complaint. He told me that the table of 4 ,that obviously knew someone at the place, made a special request for that cook. I let him know I understand that but they were only there for 30 minutes and we had been waiting over an hour with no acknowledgement or service. The only thing he offered were an apology and 1 appetizer. I don't have a problem with staff or managers showing appreciation for frequent customers my issue is the blatant manner in which service was given to another group and zero acknowledgement for another group of paying customers. We weren't even given the check till 9:20 after asking for it 3 times. We had to be there for over 2 hours. Terrible service and terrible management if I could give a -5 rating I would. Not even the decency to come out and address an issue.
