The State

We have been here multiple times for dinner and the Happy Hour and the burgers are very good. I did get the special Happy Hour burger with bacon and cheese and it was very good. They have a very good selection of drinks on the menu, including beers from local breweries. The service has always been friendly and fun and attentive. It is a smaller place so it can get kind of loud, but I guess that is the vibe of the place. Please don't laugh at this last one, but I didn't know if it is only me... THE FRONT ENTRANCE DOOR TO THE STARE IS AMAZINGLY HARD TO OPEN OR I AM EXTREMELY WEAK (WHICH I PROBABLY AM!)

As someone who did not come here for the bar scene, midday around noon, and was just looking for an enjoyable meal, I was severely disappointed by my experience. It was not busy, so there's no excuse for terrible experience you are about to read. The first issue was when my boyfriend ordered the Fried Brussels Sprouts. They were under seasoned and seemingly didn't have any of the balsamic reduction. They were a large batch of Brussels which are supposed to quartered but were only cut in half and weren't properly cooked because of it. He couldn't even comfortably eat them. He asked for a side of the balsamic reduction which helped but still wasn't great cause he couldn't toss them. Then our meals came. I ordered the Bourbon Barbecue Burger. My burger was extremely over salted and the Onion Rings were not crispy. The best part of the burger was the bacon on it. My fries were not fresh or hot at all and were extremely salty. It had to have been from at least 3 different batches. I had my boyfriend try them and he agreed they were absolutely disgusting. We let the server know about the fries and she brought out ones that were actually fresh and not over salted. Really wish those had been the first ones I tried. My boyfriend ordered The Drunken Pig Burger with a side salad. The burger was so salty that you couldn't really taste the bacon jam or enjoy it. The salad was bitter and dry, only had a drizzle of the lemon vinaigrette. We each only ate half of our burgers and the rest went into the trash. After we left, we both could taste the salt and feel the pressure in our bodies for hours. We drank so much water just trying to get the overwhelming salt taste out of our mouths. This place would benefit off of retraining their cooks. Management should really get on this issue. Curb appeal might look nice but don't be fooled! Go anywhere but here for food.

Was strolling through downtown redlands after dinner with a sweet tooth. I am a big fan of bread pudding and hands down, The State has the best bread pudding I have ever tried. Bread is soaked in their warm gooey caramel sauce, topped with ice cream. Tasted heavenly and satisfied my sweet tooth. Fast service! it is dim light inside playing low music, nice little place for drinks and conversation.

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch and there was no wait. We got seated and our waiter informed us we'd have a 90 minute dining limit. The menu is a QR code but they also have a small printed out menu with some deals they have. The have 3 restrooms next to the kitchen. The overall decor is unique and nice. For the food I usually go for their burgers and so far they've all tasted great! I asked for things on the side such as pickles, jalapeños, and ranch. They did not charge an extra fee for it so that was a big plus. I got the State burger with fries (extra charge) and it was cooked very well. I'd return to this location. Just be aware that parking in front is limited as there are many businesses in the area. There's a parking structure up the street too.

Girl's night out couldn't have went any better--we had lovely and attentive service despite it being so busy for Friday night. The bar might get backed up on drinks but they uphold well once they arrive. I tried the whiskey sour but I think I'd recommend the girl next door. The burgers were nice and hefty, my Blackberry BBQ was perfectly cooked. Overall, a great price and great atmosphere!

Came for brunch and sat on the patio which is the brightest spot of this otherwise darkly decorated space. Service was fast but a bit cold - the greeter doesn't smile. Our server was just friendly but efficient. We went with bloody Mary's - spiced right; the smoked salmon Benedict which was good from the spice and radish but the sauce lacked tart; Belgian waffle was crispy and fluffy served with a whipped butter. It was surprisingly not busy for a Saturday late morning.

The best burger in town! BlackBerry hamburger was amazing, I know it sounds word but trust me!!! Friendly staff and classy ambience!

First time my wife and I went to the state. Food was good and i would of loved to have an old fashioned but the waitress never brought it. The waitress was cold and was not interested to service us. She didn't come to check on us to see if we needed more water or if we need anything else. I asked for an old fashioned but she didn't bring it but wanted to charge us for it. We will not be going there again.

I stumbled upon The State after another spot nearby had their last call at 10 pm, and it turned out to be the best decision of the night! I was thrilled to find that they serve food until midnight--such a rare and much-appreciated treat. I ordered the truffle burger, which was nothing short of perfection. Every bite was a flavorful experience, complemented beautifully by a sweet cocktail that paired perfectly. The atmosphere was vibrant yet welcoming, and the service was spot-on--attentive without being overbearing. If you're looking for a place with amazing food, great drinks, and a lively late-night vibe, The State is a gem you don't want to miss!
