It was a subpar experience for the cost. We went to the Macabre speakeasy experience. There is a 15 dollar per person fee to reserve the experience which guarantees your spot at this place. We did manage to get our own table, but we were told in line that due to capacity they might put people that don't know each other at the same table. Once you arrive you wait in one line to check in and get ID check and wristbands, they give you a QR code to your table and they encourage you to order drinks ahead of time for your table. It's really expensive for drinks, all drinks are about 20 dollars or above and they add a gratuity for each online order placed on the QR code. It cost us 50 dollars for two cocktails that were not made well and not strong either for the cost. It doesn't seem fair to charge a crazy amount for drinks for a money trap. Just because the ambience is fun doesn't mean it's okay to overcharge people. You do have to walk through that 80s club to get to speakeasy, and they charge 15 per person if you are just doing that club. If you do wanna go into that 80s club after doing the speakeasy you have to go outside to reenter that club. The room itself is very cool and has awesome features on the " windows and ceilings". There was not an illusionist as advertised and a few actors that would hit your chairs or stare over you as you enjoyed your cocktails. But the room is very small and very crowded and it's not easy to walk around. The service is not great, you are rushed and told get your last drinks in and exit outside after the timer. The interactive drinks they advertise, you have to go to bar and stand there for experience and they don't have all the cute props for the drinks they advertise in pictures. If instagram thirst traps are your thing and you love facades and very expensive drinks with little to no actual fun in the experience then this is the place for you.

The set is located in the 80s bar in Montclair. This Halloween season the theme is "Macabre Manor." Reservations are required which entail a $15 charge per person. Basically it's a cover charge as the 80s bar does a cover on the weekends too. Be sure to check in with the host on the left. They have you wait in line until the next group is done with their timed seating. We had a 10pm reservation and probably waited about 15-20 minutes to enter. Walking through the 80s bar it gives off very clubby and busy vibes so it was hard to imagine a speakeasy at the end of it. I was actually shocked upon entrance and really impressed with the detail and ambiance. It is a small space and keep in mind you may share a table with another group if necessary. The drinks were actually phenomenal. On the pricier end of $22 and up but we're so good. I loved the horror theme play on the cocktail names! The candy man was delicious and my favorite. The Lester drink came in a light bulb with an edible flower and that was definitely an experience! My hubby loved the Samara which was a delicious espresso. I wish I could have tried more cocktails but our timed seating was up (90minutes). Overall, I was a bit worried with all the poor reviews but we had a good time and definitely got you into the spooky season spirit! The staff was also very kind. I do wish they had more horror actors but still a good time. Tip: parking ample and free All ordering is done on your phone so if you have Apple Pay it makes it so much quicker to close out the tab when ordering.

I was attracted to this location by Instagram. Made reservations which were 15 per person. We arrived to the location and parking was easy. Located inside an 80s bar. We checked in. They checked our ID and we received our wristbands and table designation. We arrive and are created by staff and we have to look for our table number. The place had cute spooky decorations However our table was filled with empty glasses, napkins and trash. We waited for some to clean and we had to clean our own table. It was extremely hot inside and they required a two drink minimum. Drinks ranged from 20-25. I didn't know about the two drink minimum when making reservations but it it was it is. They told us we had 90 minutes to be there which seemed rushed especially when trying to enjoy the drinks. Orders are places through a QR code and the drinks were delicious A person dressed up walks around for photo ops which was cool. We asked if us coming inside also allowed us to go inside the 80s club afterwards and they said no. It was a seperate fee. All in all. I don't think it's worth the money. You're rushed. Limited photo ops. Idk what the 15 dollars cover. My recommendation is visit the cauldron in Buena Park. Bigger location. Better props. No cover charge. Cheaper drinks and food options and you're not rushed to drink. Would I recommend not really.

A secret speakeasy location inside That 80s bar! This bar will change up season to season so there will always be reasons to check it out multiple times. Currently it's Spirit Lounge. Later into the year the plan is The Frost. They are brand new!! Having opening weekend later in September. Check their website for dates and times as a reservation is needed to enter. 8pm,10pm and 12am are the three time slots and being opening Thursday to Sunday. With your reservation here, you can get $5 off entry into the 80s bar itself if there is a cover charge that day. The theme for this season is spooky Halloween. Almost have a vintage feel to it all. It was a soft opening so bare in mind what you see exactly in the photos, may be different once first opening day is here. There is a variety of cocktails available to purchase (2 drink minimum) during your 2 hour slot. The old fashion comes in cute decor, Sinster Swine has an aroma bubble, and there is even a drink that comes in a light bulb! Included in your reservation is a show that changes up so don't worry if you want to come multiple times and fear it will all be the same. Check in process: As of now you park across the street in the lot nearby and try to arrive 30 minutes before your time. You will check in at the front desk for that 80s bar. Let them know you are here for the speakeasy and most likely they will already show you the menu of for drinks that way your first drink is ready when your time slot has arrived. They will then lead you into the secret way to the speakeasy. I will keep that a secret as it was such a cool experience not knowing what to expect. Again this is their first time doing a speakeasy so be mindful of that and surely embrace things might not run 100% smoothly the first week or so as they learn what works and what doesn't. There are new ideas being added as we speak! Taking account the decor they have. With a successful season, the next theme is planned to be an 80s ski lounge vibes. Cheers!!

I've been to multiple speakeasies and this was one of the few disappointing ones. First off, what is the point in making reservations if you're not going to have a seat? The tiny space was PACKED and the crowd was not it. Everyone pretty much seemed drunk off their ass. The "speakeasy" is inside another club/bar. However, the vibe is pretty much the same. Not a speakeasy vibe at all. What is the point of having an immersive bar when you can't even enjoy it? The workers, servers, bartenders were very nice hence the 2 stars and not 1. The drinks were overpriced though. The establishment needs to make this place less crowded.

My husband and I checked out the spooky speakeasy inside the 80's bar. This exceeded my expectations by far! I highly recommend checking it out, and can't wait to come back in January when it changes to a ski lodge theme. Upon entering through a secret entrance, you are transported to a spooky living room of sorts adorned with LED displays all over the room. From creepy changing portraits on the walls to the ceiling crawling with creepy crawlers, the ambiance was very well done. We were seated at the bar where we got to witness the artists at work crafting well thought out drinks. We got to talk a lot to the head bartender who was the mastermind behind the cocktails and you can feel his passion behind every ingredient poured into them. My husband loved his old fashioned, smoked right in front of us and the Kong drink was his favorite. I loved the festers bulb which comes with an edible flower that numbs your mouth. So fun!You should definitely check this place out! Great date night or time out with friends!

This place has only blown up because of social media push they've spent on. Reservation is required and yet, not honored. You are required to drink (and pay for) a specific amount of drinks (that are not good). Everyone, I mean EVERY SINGLE PERSON, working here is rude & on some sort of power trip. They are inconsiderate and make you feel like trash in the way you are treated. You had a drink and got lost, your cut off. It's so they can keep cycling through their reservations... you already paid to get in, it's easier to kick you out. The reservation system is unorganized and you end up in a crowded room (or not very crowded at all) with a bunch of strangers that aren't even as "hip" as they portray it in their media advertisements. It's awkward. And to retouch back on the drink point since this is a bar. They try to create specialty drinks for each theme. The yeti drinks were disgusting and cheap alcohol strong... like stomach ache and you're not even buzzed. Their dumb rules make you feel obligated to finish them too, and then they can punish you for ANYTHING they come up with that night. I do feel like because it's attached to that 80s bar it's hard to find this place in Yelp to see the truth behind the hype they built through acting video advertising. This isn't a speakeasy either!!! You literally have to stand in line outside infront of the podium where the all high and mighty workers filter through the reservations. You walk through the doors when it's your time & you're there. A speak easy is a hidden bar.. EVERYONE KNOWS WHERE THIS PLACE IS AND YOU CAN SEE THE ROOM FROM YOUR PLACE IN LINE. Don't feed the hype, it won't be worth your time.

A group of my friends and I went while it was the Matterhorn bar - the bar was well themed and lots of fun interaction with the Yeti! Also loved the animatronic deer that farted and said rude things! HahahaThe chocolate orange martini was delish! Cover is free but expect to make up for it in drink prices and there is a two drink minimum, but well worth it.

Went for Macrabre Manor last week to celebrate a birthday and had a blast! You check in for your reservation outside of the bar, then they let your party inside a few groups at a time. We were let into a back room that was decorated with cool props, moving photos, and there was a scare actor walking around. They also had a magician who went to every table to do magic and card tricks which was super fun and unexpected. As far as the drinks go, they were on the pricier side (about $20 per drink), but they were really strong, tasted good, and some were even interactive. My last drink had a small flower that you would eat to change the flavor of the cocktail. The bartenders were busy so it took a few minutes for someone to take our order, but it's because you could also order and pay online right from your table. They have a small cash discount if you order at the bar though, so keep that in mind! The whole experience was a little under 2 hours, which was more than enough time. Overall, it was a fun experience that I would love to do again soon.

First of all, they are disorganized in the front. They do not care if you came early for your reservation and will make you wait even if others came late for theirs. In addition, do not lean on anything before entering , they will cut you off of drinks! The bar tender was very rude and disrespectful, does not give an explanation. As for decor , I would give it a 3/10. It's a 500 square ft room where they pack you in like sardines. It really takes the exclusivity out of the experience of a speakeasy. Not to mention how expensive the drinks were ! They are at least $20 per drink , with little to no alcohol. (Droplets) as I watch the bartender make my fiancés drink , I'm thinking, wow .. save yourself some time and skip the speakeasy
