Was going to Soup N Fresh but the line was out the door. It's windy and in the 50's out there. So went to The Boiler instead. This place was busy. Unfortunately they only had one server and she did her best to keep up. There was 3 large group and when one left another big group showed up. We sat at the counter as always. We think it's the best place to really experience it.Wife ordered the House Pan Roast and this time she tried it with linguine pasta. She loved it and she said she it was so good that she will always order the same thing and with pasta. I had the clam chowder and the gumbo with a spice level of 3. The chowder was great as always. The gumbo was excellent. Next time I am going to try ordering it with more crab and shrimp. Food and service was always great and we will go back again.

5 STARS.The Boiler is one of the best steam kettle cooking restaurants I have ever been to. If you enjoy cajun/creole seafood, you have to try out The Boiler in Chino Hills. I always take out-of-town visitors here because it's a unique dining experience that you really can't find in too many places. The best dishes to order at the Boiler are:* House pan roast (lunch price: $17.50; dinner price: $28.00): this is the main dish that everyone comes to The Boiler for. It has shrimp, scallops, crab, and clams in a tomato cream based sauce. It is absolutely delicious. You choose a spice level between 1-10. There are spice levels aren't that bad at the restaurant - I normally go with a 7, and it's just enough spice. You can also ask for the scoop of rice on the side if you don't want it inside of your bowl when it's served. * Fisherman's chowder (lunch price: $17.50; dinner price: $27.50): if you like New England claw chowder, this is the option for you. This chowder has calamari, shrimp, scallops, crab, mussels, and white fish in the creamy chowder sauce.* Shrimp diablo (lunch price: $16.50; dinner price: $24.00): large prawns in a white wine, garlic butter, olive oil, and spicy tomato sauce served over linguini. Delicious texture that pairs perfectly with the noodles.* Cajun calamari appetizer ($12.00): I always order the cajun calamari to start. It's a large appetizer order, good enough for 3-4 people to share. The cocktail sauce with the horseradish that it's served with is a delicious complement to the calamari sticks.* Cajun fries ($6.50): When I am extra hungry, I get the cajun fries on the side. I love dipping them into the house pan roast as well.I've tried all of the main entrees on their menu, and can say that the house pan roast, fisherman's chowder, and shrimp diablo are the best options. I've had better jambalaya and gumbo elsewhere, so stick with the options I listed above. The staff is extremely friendly. Try to get a spot in front of the steam kettles so you can see how the chefs prepare each dish. It's really fun to observe and ask questions too!

Absolutely love the Boiler in Chino HillsGetting bar seating to get an almost Benihana style of cooking right in front of you!The service is great despite waves of hungry customers and even cranky to-go customers holdin up and hassling the staff.Make sure you ask for the free bread and butter to go with the House Pan Roast! It's definitely the best dish in the house but if you like spicy, make sure you request it to be at least an 8 out of 10

A solid choice when you are craving a good pan roast. Since it seems all of the Ritters have closed, pan roast has been hard to find nowadays aside from having to make it yourself. We started with the Cajun fries which were perfectly cooked, came out hot and were nicely seasoned. The pan roast was AMAZING! My bf and I also shared the jambalaya but that was just okay. Service was good! Next time we will probably just order our own pan roasts since that was definitely the star of the show.

I didn't like how the pan roast- all their ingredients are all chop up- such as the sausage, clams and mussels. The flavor was all right. Their fish and chips was average, not that great. The clam chowder was decent. The service was kind of slow as it was only one waiter working at the time I went and he was managing 5 tables. Overall I would not come back here as the food and service was lackluster

I have been craving pan roast for awhile and we used to come here a lot back in the day. We weren't sure what to expect. Overall the pan roast had great flavor and the portions of seafood was good and tasted as fresh as we remember. The gumbo was actually very good and I would order that again for sure. The linguine with clams however was way too oily and had so much oregano in it, it overpowered the whole dish. Service was good, there was only one girl that was hosting, serving and taking to go orders. She was very efficient and sweet. The restaurant seemed very slow for a Friday night. We were pretty much the only ones there for the most part. There is lots of seating and they have bar seating the watch the cooks if that's preferred.

Haven't been here in awhile since the hours are kinda weird and they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. They def redeemed themselves today. Lunch 11:30 at opening, no customers yet. Clean. Ordered the clam chowder, cajun calamari & sausage and chicken pan roast level 4. Lunch portion.Everything was fresh and delicious! Service was superb and it all of it was under 40 bucks, til I added the tip of course.Very generous portions of protein and tasty! Lots if clams in my chowda, calamari was meaty! And lots of sausage and chicken in my pan roast! Like heaven!

Wow, It's very rare to find a pan roast restaurant. It is most definitely a dish that not a lot of people are familiar with. I remember coming here a long time ago to try my very first roast. I remember it being really good so I came back again with my family. It was just as good as I remembered it to be! My favorite was the house pan roast. Just imagine butter chicken sauce but instead of chicken, it's seafood. It has such a rich flavor and pairing it with the rice was amazing. I thought the gumbo was a little salty, but the flavor was on point. The calamari appetizer was nice to start off with and wasn't too bready. The rice that comes with the dishes was definitely not enough. The ration of sauce to rice is really off, but they give you free bread so you can dip the bread into the sauce. Overall, everything was pretty yummy. Will come back again the next time I'm craving some pan roast!
