My friends recommended this spot for dinner when I came to visit them in Claremont, and Back Abbey is the perfect spot for casual dates, family get-togethers, or large group gatherings.Since we had a large group, we got seated outside and I appreciated they had heating lamps since it was freezing out. I love their huge selection of beers and I ended up going with a seasonal holiday light ale. We ordered 2 full cones of their pomme frites, which was sooo crispy and fresh! You can taste the duck fat and it paired really nicely with both their sauces. For my entree, I went with the Back Abbey burger and it was perfectly cooked medium-rare. The burger wasn't anything mindblowing, but still a solid burger nonetheless. I think this is a great spot to grab a bite and a pint to enjoy with great company.

Great happy hour find in Claremont. We noticed this page didn't have their happy hour menu posted, so thought ok, it's us, let's do it. Glad we did! Incredible margaritas, tasted and presented like an expensive cocktail lounge. Large frites are LARGE and crispy. The trio of sauces they come with are very flavorful and herbaceous. One was horseradish forward, really interesting flavor. We also got their little plate of brats which were really tasty with a good snap. A little sweet with the peppers and caramelized onion. Would recommend 100%

I've seen this restaurant so many times and finally got the chance to try it. We came on a Sunday around 3pm so there was no wait and very little people. We chose to sit on the outside. We ordered The Abbey burger and an order of fries. Their burger was delicious and juicy! The salad was good but had too much dressing for my liking. The fries were thin and crunchy. They came with 3 dipping sauces. I knocked down one star for service because it was hard to flag anyone down for refill of water in which we never got and to get the check.

This was my first time visiting the Back Abbey. The restaurant indoor dining is small but there also is patio dining. The food menu is small and the beverage menu is large. I ordered the steak salad and the duck fat fried potatoes. My friend ordered the backyard burger. She enjoyed the burger as much as I enjoyed the steak salad. And the duck fat fried potatoes were crazy good! The service is good and the prices are average. $$

Cute spot off the courtyard area in Claremont. Specializing in a Belgian inspired theme, we tried this spot out for happy hour which they even feature on weekends until 5:00! Certain cocktails were $11 and it was $2 off beer and wine. They also had duck fat fries for $6.50 which I highly recommend. I just had to take the plunge despite my cholesterol numbers. Made from fresh potatoes they are really tasty with a surprising crisp to them. A small yet generous serving will set you back $6.50.I had their Cabernet from Paso Robles which was smooth and delicious. I don't recall the name but it was the only cab on the menu for $15 a glass. On Wednesdays full bottles are half off. Would drop by again!

Cool hangout spot. Stopped by their happy hour and enjoyed their Bavarian soft pretzels, green olives with smoked roasted almonds, brat bites that included a flavorful medley of bell peppers and grilled onions, along with an icy cold Bavik (Belgian Pilsner). Will need to return for their burgers. Every other plate coming out had a beautifully layered cheeseburger or cheese melt.

What I had:- Turkey burger ($18)- The Back Abbey burger ($19)- Abbey lager ($8)- Duchesse red ($8)How it tasted:- I enjoyed everything except for the turkey burger. The consistency was a bit odd, but the back abbey burger was pretty delightful along with the paired drinks. Why did I give it a four?- Decent beer selection and solid food. Staff are always friendly, but it can get a bit chaotic depending on when you arrive to eat.Verdict?- Give it a shot :).

This is my first time here. I wanted to venture out from my area, and since this place was near my PT, I decided to give it a try. I was looking at the spicy fried schnitzel sandwich. My server, Amelia A. said that was one of the most popular ones, so I was glad to order that for my first meal here. It was delicious as I had imagined!! Crispy outside and flavorful and juicy chicken. And the side salad was fresh and had perfect flavot and amount of dressing. Food and Service were all excellent. The ambiance was nice, cool, and relaxed casual atmosphere.I would definitely recommend coming out here to give them a try. Thank you, Amelia and Back Abbey team, for a great meal and service!!
