Nothing feels like home quite like good soul food. Tallies table is located in the food court of the Moreno Valley Mall, but make no mistake about it. This is not your run-of-the-mill, overly processed, quick eat. The chicken and seafood is cooked to order and is honestly quite delicious. I liked the sweetness of the candy yams without being drenched in sugar. I also liked how the yams were well formed rather than mashed up like baby food. The mac & cheese was the most unique. I've tasted in years. It's mixed with herbs. Service at the front counter was polite. The young lady took her time to go through all of the options and to verify that the order was correct again. This is not fast food, and it took about 20 minutes for me to get my order, however, that was long enough for me to get my kids food from other places in the food court, soul food is known to be generous and they did not let me down however, two tiny little packets of hot sauce was not going to get it done. I hate to admit being "that" girl, but I actually had a little bottle of Louisiana hot sauce in my purse because I knew I was coming here. The food is top notch, but I can't get over the fact that I paid over $30 for one plate of food and I'm sitting in the middle of a food court with no table service. This makes it probably the most expensive soul food in the area. Pro-tip: Be aware of your upcharges, combos, come with very specific side dishes, and the two meat combo does not include all of the meats. Some meats/fish are an up charge.

The ROMEO's decided the first lunch of 2023 would be an independent small business owner. We came to the Moreno Valley mall. I don't know if I thought I'd ever say that sentence again. The food was really worth the trip. A small foodcourt spot with a limited menu of fried fish, shrimp, chicken wings (all drumettes), shrimp n grits and a variety of sides (the usual suspects) greens, sweet potatoes, smothered potatoes. My dessert was just red Koolaid and it hit the spot. My shrimp and grits were rich and spicy. The grits were buttery and cheesy with just enough spice. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and large and plentiful. I only gave it 4 stars because I root for them to get a larger kitchen so she can truly spread her wings.Service-5Food-5Value-4 (food court setting)Retired Old Men Eating Out

Waited 40 minutes for my food. Order wings and fried shrimp, crab plate plus extra sides. Got home and all of my shrimp still had the shell on them. Went back to the establishment where the owner (man) tried to tell me normally, we don't issue you a refund but since we may or may not have made a mistake. Now I am standing here in front of their employee showing him so I have my proof. I feel insulted. $65 on food why would I go home fry shrimp and come back. Then they wanted a count of the shrimp and to leave my plate. Just poor customer service, Poor choice in wording. I am not interested in eating any of it especially after being made to feel like I have to steal shrimp and chicken.

There are very few places that evoke feelings of being back at my grandmother's dining room table in the morning on Sunday, smelling Cajun grits with honey biscuits. Telly's knocked it out of the park. Seldom do I even chance eating grits that aren't the ones I cook, but I feel extremely comfortable telling friends AND kinfolk to come through if you want a nice helping of rich soul flavors. All of the portions sizes are well-balanced and well-valued. You get a very solid amount for what you pay for. Those honey biscuits are living in my head rent-free, and I wish I had ordered more. The grits are literally right at the perfect consistency. Nothing is too greasy, even the fried stuff! The catfish nugget batter wasn't too thick, but it was extremely flavorful. The ones pictured here are lemon pepper.I will definitely be back to try more of their menu, and I will easily give Telly's a rock solid recommendation to those who are woefully unaware of the restaurant's existence in Riverside/MoVal.

I saw from the reviews there was a toss up between this place being great and lackluster. Food being amazing and bland, cold and greasy. Soooo, I figured I'd just give it shot for foodie's sake.Walked up and had maybe 2 people in line before me. Mostly people being indecisive. Great to see they appeared to be well-staffed (I went on a Sunday afternoon). Really wanted a waffle and eggs with some catfish but they have specific breakfast hours. So I got the fried catfish dinner with grape kool-aid.When it comes to how I like the texture of my fish, I like it cornmeal crusted, and I like a filet like those from Cracker Barrel or Mary Stewarts in Rialto. That's the standard for me and how I critique catfish. The fish here isn't either of those. A lot of shops aren't tho, so it is what it is. Gotta make it at home to get it the way you like. With that said,The fish was fresh, pretty filling and lightly seasoned. The sides were fresh, mac and cheese was cheesy and had a hint of salt. A lot of establishments either over-season or under-season and this place veered on the side of under seasoning, which is fair. That really did well in the case of the kool-aid. I knew it could've done something to my blood sugar, but to my surprise it wasn't too much sugar. It was done just right and was very delightful.I drove from Lake Elsinore to try this place. I would come back and try something else if I'm in the area, but wouldn't make the long drive or go out of my way. Also, the customer service is great.

I got many things for my family to try . Chicken Wings DISH , Turkey Eggrolls ,Salmon Egg Rolls, Fish N Grits, Catfish Nuggets COMBO, Mixed Plate 2 meat COMBO, Smothered Fried Chicken, 4. Yams, Greens, Mac n cheese, cornbread, dinner rolls. (Flavored wings we had were honey bbq and garlic Parmesan) (Wings were fried hard it came a bit tough) but the flavors were good. The food was SEASONED okay, all the flavors were there and everything tasted amazing. BUT I have to take a star off because the greens were slightly over seasoned and came across a bit salty. And I feel like the Mac n cheese would be alot better having it at the restaurant instead of having it doordashed because you definitely run into the problem of it being dry. The eggrolls were great! Other than that I will def try again!UPDATE: We had it in person and the Mac n cheese was fiyah! The greens were better also! Woo!! I'm ordering again!

I should've known better than to order "Soul Food", with a location in the Moreno Valley Mall food court!First off, both dishes differ from the descriptions noted on both the website and Doordash menus. The Chicken and Waffles were supposed to have 3 large wings, but they sent 5 overcooked drumettes that tasted like they'd been fried in old, rotten grease. The Shrimp and Grits dish was supposed to come with JUMBO shrimp...clearly the shrimp served in my order are NOT jumbo! They also sent order with no napkins, no utensils and no butter or syrup for the Waffles!I called the restaurant and a man answered claiming to be the owner and instead of being accommodating...as soon as I said the dish was supposed to have 3 large wings...He got hostile and started vehemently denying that the menu notated 3 large wings. I told him I had the screenshot, and that I was not even finished with my full issue that I called about. He kept talking over me and I told him he could relax because I did NOT want a refund or a replacement...He handed the phone over to a lady/ girl as though he was done speaking with me and she began to BLATANTLY lie about the description of BOTH items. She told me some crap about..." We say JUMBO shrimp to make our customers happy, we actually buy bigger than Jumbo"...(Girl PLEASE...that would be ColassalI!) I stopped her and replied: "You make your customers happy by providing what you say you provide, not by making something sound more appealing or as if it's a larger portion and under delivering...You're trying to fast talk me and I don't appreciate it!"...Because in reality, you're saying Jumbo, but buying & serving smaller!I told her as I told the owner: I don't want a refund or a replacement...I'm just bringing it to your attention that this is not cool, to scam your customers as a new business and a BLACK business who has a strange dynamic of ALWAYS claiming we dont support each other, all not providing quality service or product for the price! The rest of the conversation went down hill as expected by a business with bad customer service and poor food quality!!Bottom line: Don't order with them if you're looking for Soul Food in the Moreno Valley/ Riverside area...Go to KK's Oh Taste and See or Della Mae's KitchenOn that note,I gotta go...the smell of these stinky ass wings fried in this old ass oil is making me nauseous!!

I have been plotting and planning on trying this place. I love seafood and love soul food. Stalked their IG. Looked at every picture on Yelp, and their website to plot my ideal order. And although I had already come to the realization that the menu is poorly worded and not very easy to navigate, and everything is an add on, and upgrade and upgrade to the upgrade I still was excited to try the food. Here are the highs and lows from my experience. Ordered the $15 2 item plate - even though this combines 2 items in a meal it is not a combination plate. A combination plate adds $8 more. For my 2 choice plate I got wings (no upgrade $), and jumbo shrimp (no upgrade $) but, the wing sauce for wings is an upgrade of $2. No wing place charges for sauce unless you want an extra side of the sauce. I choose crunchy sweet garlic sauce. Sauce is not crunchy. The sauce is sparse and the wings are tight and small. Choice 2 was jumbo shrimp. It doesn't say on the menu, on line sauce all fish but salmon is fried, although grilled was ok. They are not jumbo. Average medium sized shrimp. Salty. Idea: "5 shrimp - grilled or fried. $2 upgrade to toss them in any wing sauce". Plate come with 1 side or bread. Or bread? Should include bread. And bread is way cheaper than sides so they're not the same value. And the side is not any base side. It's salad, or Smart and Final crinkle cut fries only or it's a $2 upgrade for standard sides. The salad and fries are not the same price as standard sides so the value is odd. Again, not the standard. For my side I upgraded $2 to other sides, then upgraded the upgrade $1 more to a premium side and got the saucy Cajun rice. It's a good sized side, Cajun yes, saucy no. Added an additional standard side of grits and upgraded to Cajun $1 grits. Again good sized side, love grits. I ordered a turkey egg roll. The only turkey item on the menu is smothered turkey wings, there is no description on the egg roll so I thought the egg roll would be be those smothered wings in an additional application- nope - they are ground turkey. Wish the menu set the standard clearly. Egg roll was good. Small but good. No visible other ingredients comes with free sweet and sour sauce. By the way, ranch is free asis tartar sauce, ketchup, generic hot sauce packets. Not Crystal, not Louisiana, not Tabasco. I tried to order greens but they said they weren't ready. Someone else came to pick up an online order that had ordered greens too and said "no greens again"? My $15 base menu order, small side, and single egg roll and no drink with the upgraded upgrades was $29 and some change. While I was staring down at the screen to make sure what I had done saw a $1 fee for a card but I had cash out, she removed that, took my $30 in cash and then said "you don't want your coins change back right"? Um, no, I was going to add it to my tip money, but there is no coin shortage. Add on's after add on's and then fee to use a card, then keep the change?! Ug. She's very nice but they aren't really a wing place. Not serious about tacos. Fried catfish but crappy hot sauce in Styrofoam containers do it won't stay crisp so this isn't the focus either. No greens means soul food isn't the premise either. Kool aid is an upgrade. Lunch specials have limits to just a few orders - are people trying to order in bulk so often if requires limits to not bankrupt them? Taco's are in orders of 3 of the same taco's only except on taco Tuesday. I don't mind paying for amazing food. Seafood is expensive. If the price was set and I got my own change back, and the food was quality good as described like $30 for 6 flavored fat wings, 6 shrimp grilled or fried and 2 premium sides and a single side of bread I would have what I expected. And not felt the need to say all this.

Very bad customer service. I wanted the lobster special with grits but was given French fries. When I explained I didn't want fries but grits even though they were both the same price was told no by owner herself Tully.
