I'm excited to find a bakery that makes haupia treats, AND IT'S DELICIOUS!This is not your typical bakery. They serve Filipino and Hawaiian influenced desserts and snacks. The way it works is you place your order online during the week and choose which weekend to pick up your order, Eastvale on Saturdays or Eastvale and West Covina on Sundays. They're closed during the week. It's not a storefront like I initially thought; it's a house! We ordered the Okinawan Sweet Potato Haupia Mac Nut Pie and the Kona Mud Pie. The haupia pie reminded me of the one my uncle used to make in Hawaii. It's very similar. It's a macadamia nut shortbread crust topped with the purple Okinawan Sweet potato, then another layer of the haupia on top! I can eat this entire pan by myself. I honestly don't want to share it. ;)The Kona Mud Pie should be called the Kona DREAM Pie! This was so good! It had just the right amount of coffee flavor, and the chocolate cookie crust really added to this dessert. Again, MINE! I don't want to share this one either! It's light and refreshing on a hot day if you eat it like an ice cream pie!The owners were so sweet and easy to work with. I highly recommend this bakery! It's truly a treat!

Serendipity. Am I dreaming? So pinch me! How exciting can it be to find a pair of bakers doing a drool-worthy business in their own home? A French baker AND a Filipino sidekick? They do a weekend (Saturday) business at this point, as they both still have weekday jobs to wrestle. But after our first purchase with them, I sincerely hope they can realize their dream to open a bakery and work for no one but themselves.Firstly, we made our own personal experience even more rich by taking a delightful, if not odiferous, trek to go pick our pie up. Let me explain. After making a quick phone call and placing my order on their website, we took a leisurely drive in the direction of our destination. The business is located in a nice home in rapidly expanding Eastvale. Eastvale, once upon a time, was all open fields and Dutch and Basque dairy farms. We had chosen a warm day right after a deluge of rain and found ourselves blasted with the essence of eau de dairyland "cow" (consider yourself warned) as we drove towards their housing development. We ended up driving on some 2-lane, gravelly, country roads while getting an eyeful of the shrinking, rural Chino landscape of olden days. Some Guersey cows eyed us, disinterested, as they sloshed in the mud and lazily chewed on...whatever they chew on. Yippee! Mini Road Trip! But if you are not a fan of dairy culture, don't let this set you back from experiencing some of the hands down most delectable, sweet pastries in our area. This hard-working husband and wife team know great baking secrets, and they don't skimp with sub-par ingredients. John's dad was a professional baker. His wife, Narleen, is Filipino with her own equally matched culinary skills. Together, they are the perfect match to bring you a selection of French/American/Filipino/Hawaiian delicacies that are sure to bring a smile to your lips. Check their website for their rotating menu. Our first order was a coconut cream pie. I don't know how he did it, but John had it ready for us in an hour and 30 minutes. But don't do that to him, please. Be nice. The pie crust was oh, so tender. The filling was rich and coconutty. The whipped cream topping was the real deal! Nothing artificial. As a very hard-nut critic of all things baked, Mr. B and I could only moan in ecstacy over our pie.Set up your account. Order online. Arrange a pick-up time. Pre-pay online. That's how it works. They will send you a text and/or email of confirmation.Thank you, John and Narleen, for sharing your personal story with us, your strength and deep faith, and your inspiring efforts to honor your young son, Gerard's, sweet memory. Yelpers, spread the word. Let their dream be a blessing to all.

I'm sweet on Sweet Gerard's! Ordered an 8" round cake 5 days before my event, and even though it was a busy weekend, they were able to accommodate me! Even better, the cake was done finished earlier than my requested time, so a huge plus!! I ordered a custom Pokémon poke ball shaped fondant cake in the chocolate fudge flavor. I really wanted to try a flavor from the huge selection of Filipino and Hawaiian-inspired flavors, but unfortunately, the celebrant just wanted chocolate. So, I'll save that for next time (which there will definitely be!). The cake was super moist and delicious; it hit the spot with our guests. And of course, the design didn't disappoint, perfect for photo-ops! Overall, the ordering experience with Sweet Gerard's was a piece of cake, and I can't wait to come back for seconds!!

Everything I have tried from Sweet Gerard's Bakery is DELICIOUS - The Mac crunch, kringles, cookies...everything leaves me wanting more!Their most popular treat is the Hawaiian Mac Crunch, which honestly never lasts more than 2 days in our household because they're SOO addicting. I've also bought a few boxes to gift to people and everyone loved them! My other favorites are the Macadamia Cornflake Shortbread Cookies, macadamia chantilly tarts, and guava cheesecake. The owners of Sweet Gerard's are so kind! The story of how and why this business was brought to life is very inspiring and touching. Take time to read their story - your hearts will be touched and most of all, your tummies will be happy :)

Their Mac Crunch is absolutely delicious!! It's reasonably priced, which is good because it's addictive. I think it would be great to have out as a snack if you are into sporting events.

I have ordered from Sweet Gerard's a few times now for desserts to gift to birthday recipients. They get back to messages promptly, are very accommodating to pick-up times and their desserts are delicious! I have ordered their Hawaiian macadamia shortbread cookies plain and dipped with milk chocolate, pecan tarts and their banana trifle pie (my family could not get enough of this pie!) Alas, I have no pictures to share as the desserts didn't last very long on the counter, but I highly recommend them! Their backstory is precious and I love to support local, small businesses. Thank you Sweet Gerard's for making our lives a little more, well, sweeter! :)

I was initially impressed because I sent a simply inquiry for blueberry pie, thinking I would get a yes/no response. But Gerard's responded with options for 3 different crust types (explaining what each type consisted of - for my pastry-challenged self) and 3 different kinds of toppings (again, describing each kind). I didn't really know what options to go with (I was looking to impress my husband for his birthday), and Gerard's didn't just give me a quick tip. He described in detail which crusts complement which pies, how the ingredients work together to provide what kind of texture, etc. I was like, do they do weddings because this service is like whoaaa.Suffice it to say, I was extremely impressed and so, so thankful. Not only that, I appreciated the thought he put into adding other ingredients in order to create a less-sweet topping, as I had mentioned my husband's preference as such. Annnd, he even offered to add walnuts to the topping just cuz. He communicated over text so it was super convenient and faster responses. I rarely write reviews, but I really felt compelled to write one for Gerard's because this customer service is stellar. As far as the pie itself. My husband is a pastry chef and, in my opinion, pretty freaking selective. In our 3yrs of marriage, I've never gotten more than a shrug and "it's okay" in response to the different foods/desserts I've gotten him. With Gerard's, he said the topping was "a little sweet but the pie is really good." My mind is blown. Wow. He ate all of it in 2 sittings. Wish I got a picture lol
