I was surprised the store was not super busy. Maybe everyone was at Costco. The store was clean. Employees were mostly working at the checkout. It was relatively easy to find what we needed even though this was my first time in the store.I would shop here again if I needed essential items.

Fresh and affordable - "The low price leader in your hometown." What about, customer service: "Setting the standard for service excellence?" Where's that in the customer service check out line? Stater Bros has a challenging time setting themselves apart from their competitors. As much as they strive to have low prices, their customer service simply lacks in connecting to the guests at checkout. As a guest, I repeatedly see how neglectful the cashiers and baggers are to most customers. The only interaction they have is "do you need a bag?" Beyond that, you get to stand there and listen to their unsatisfied lives being played out in front of you - that's my experience which is why I seldomly shop there. I dread stater bros because I expect poor customer service. In reading other reviews here on Yelp - they are completely accurate to the climate this store in Ontario Ranch delivers. Beyond the shiny floors, wide aisles, customer service is the most important aspect to maintaining and keeping every customer. A low price leading store shouldn't be leading in low customer service. Whenever I see a bagger, I know they won't stop talking with the cashier even if their life depended on it. As expected The cashier carries on with them without skipping a beat -in front of the customer...that's a poor delivery of customer service. As far as race goes, well, let's say the environment looks diverse, but don't be too fooled by that. Based on observation, every customer is treated differently. To the manager: please don't apologize for the employees at this store, if any, make a change and address the on going issues that are woven into the employee culture. To future customers: save your receipt and write a review. Sure Yelp is a good start, but send the message out to corporate.To the employees who displayed poor behavior as a professional: the girl with long brown hair and extra lashes, and the over 6ft tall boy with a full head of hair, take note and stop the conversations when customers are being helped (just pause and talk on break). Don't be so removed from the customer and the service expected from YOU.

Miss crystal bell, assistant store manager you were amazing to talk to, thanks for listening to me and making me feel like a valued customer. 10 stars to you. My 1 star rating and complaint is about Albert, younger cashier. As I watched others in front of me being checked out, he greets every single one of them with a hi, how are you doing? Did you find everything ok? Awesome, but when I checked out with only a winning scratcher, I didn't get the same courtesy or respect from Albert. No no no I did not. He takes my ticket scans it and brings me back my money, and so I said to him, "is it because I'm Asian?" And he responds what does that have to do with anything? So I tell him well you greeted every single customer in front of me and asked if everything was ok but when it came to me not a single word. And he doubles down and says what does race have to do with it. So I then say what is it then, because the way I'm dressed what is it then. And he still doesn't say my bad I'm just having a bad day or some form of apology. So I ask to speak to the manager to tell her what happened. And she is so apologetic and empathetic and I feel embarrassed at the same time. He ended up getting relieved at the register to come and talk about what happened. Albert proceeds to triple down and says that I had a mean looking face when I approached him and was telling the manager that he said sorry to me, what a complete liar because nothing remotely close to an apology came out of that guys mouth. He then tells her that if I wanted an apology that I wasn't gonna get one because he had apologized already and I told him to stop lying. He gets upset, she tells him to go upstairs and as he's walking away he says "bouje ass customer" even the assistant manager heard what he said. I'm not the type to do this kind of stuff, in retrospect maybe I could have asked him if he was having a bad day instead of saying if it's because I was Asian. Learning experience on my end. If he had said my bad I would have never involved his superiors, which is something that I hate doing. The assistant manager took down my number and says that the manager will give me a call. I'll update this post when and if I hear back from them. I live across the street so I'm here all them time, so hopefully next time my interaction with Albert will be more pleasant. Yvette does it again!!! My sons birthday came up and I talked with Yvette on the cake and flavor and she like always made it happen. Customer service with her just really doesn't make me want to go anywhere else as I've said in my previous post. She still brought her sweet genuine self into every order I've placed! So thank you so much! Cake was moist and delicious nothing left!! Thanks staters for always making our cakes the best! Bakery is always clean and set with cakes. This is the spot to place and order or just pick up that last minute cake. Always an amazing selection.

The service was great! Janet was so helpful and went above and beyond to provide a specific cake for me! It was red velvet if you're wondering. At first she asked if we needed any help and we kindly said no thanks but she then realized that we were looking for a specific kind of cake and mentioned that they had red velvet in the back. Unfortunately they did sell it prior but she recommended other small cakes and eventually found the cake we wanted and to our surprise it was the last one! We thank her so much for going above and beyond! She even got to write lettering on it! Such a great experience at this location hope to come again soon!

Went to the bakery section and after waiting 15 minutes, I approached a worker at the deli. I was told the bakery girl was at lunch and her lunch was an hour long. She told me she was helping a customer and would help me when she was done.Ten minutes later she finally requested help via intercom. A lady finally came and did not have the appropriate container for the pastry. It took two people, scissors, store stickers and a dirty box to pack it up. When we got home the pastry was a mess.
