Don't judge a book by its cover!! Looking at this place from the outside, I would have driven by it without a second thought but thanks to my fellow Yelpers, we were looking forward to it. The staff are super nice and so helpful! The place is very, very casual but that doesn't even matter cuz the food??!! The food was amazing!!! We ordered a pound of the brisket burnt ends, a pound of the beef rib and a pound of the "moist" brisket - SO GOOD!! You don't have to order a pound, you can order various weights of meatThere was 5 of us and getting a pound of each of those meats plus 6 sides was way more than enough. We could've probably fed 7 people easy! The sides we ordered were the spicy Mac and cheese, potato salad, rice, coleslaw, plantains, and corn bread. The topper was their spicy bbq sauce! ALL Delish!! Towards the end of our meal, we saw the line to order grow and grow!! The locals know!! Looking forward to going back and trying their chicken!!

We came just for the burnt ends - both brisket and pork belly (with no sides!). We asked for 1/2 lb of each. The man weighed some on the scale and it came out to about 0.7 lb (instead of 0.5), and he said "Perfect!" We didn't correct him or make a deal of it, but my wife especially was a bit annoyed at the upselling (basically having us pay more money than we actually wanted to), because that makes a $6-7 difference per meat type, making us spend about $12 more than we planned to. The brisket was delicious. No complaints at all! The pork belly had good flavor, but half the pieces were very fatty, to the point where we were pulling the chunks of fat off the the thin slices of meat in order to avoid eating them.

4++ Great Texas style BBQ place that has that roadside BBQ vibe...so much so, that it brought me back to the time about a decade a go where I was driving outside of Austin to a small city called Lockhart with a friend to grab some BBQ. I don't know how it is now, but it really felt like I was brought back into a memory like Harry Potter pensieve style. It's counter service style where you order at the counter and pay for what you order at the end of the line. There's a good selection of meats and classic sides. There's also desserts like banana pudding (one of my faves!). I went here with one other friend and you can argue we probably ordered way too much food between the two of us, since most meat items are based on weight, but no regrets here. We ordered:1 lb. Prime Brisket, 1 lb. Sausage, 1 lb. Pork Spare Ribs, Mac and Cheese, Green Beans with Bacon, and some corn bread to wash it down. (Really, we got one of the craft sodas to wash it down, but just sayin). I thought everything was tasty. I was a big fan of the sides. The brisket and the sausage were tasty and cooked really well. The ribs were slightly on the dry side, but still flavorful. We used some sauce on the side to counter that. In terms of Texas style BBQ in CA, this place is really good. I still have my favorites, but this place has great food, great people, a nice spacious area to eat, and above all else, it was super exciting, because it gave me that feeling I was back in Texas (the drive on the road up to it was part of it). The place has a large lot with plenty of street parking around the area.

So I'm not the biggest fan of BBQ, but this placed changed my mind. I got the rib tip plate that was SO incredibly good. Corn bread was amazing. And the spicy Mac & cheese was my favorite! The potatoes are also so tasty and flavorful. I also got a brisket burnt edge sandwich based on a recommendation from a regular and it was my favorite thing of the day! 10/10 , I'll def be back!!

Spirit of Texas came highly recommended, but as a serious barbecue and brisket aficionado, I have to say it didn't live up to the hype for me. The brisket tasted like it was cooked in large batches, lacking that care and love you'd expect from great BBQ. It was dry and didn't have the rich, smoky flavor I associate with true Texas brisket.I understand the popularity--there was a line wrapping around the building--but the quality didn't justify the wait or the price. It felt more like they were focused on pumping out as much food as possible, which makes sense for a busy spot, but it didn't meet the standard I was hoping for.The only standout for me was the cornbread, which was moist and flavorful. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to make up for the rest. If you're looking for authentic Texas BBQ, I'd recommend checking out other places instead.

Spirit of Texas indeed gave me Texas vibes! The brisket is on point. They gave the option to either get the fatty or lean part!! The brisket was moist but had nice smokey flavor.Pulled pork was decent.I would probably not order the rib tips, doesn't have the flavor or texture to excite you.Hot Mac and cheese, and the coleslaw were alright. Sides are kinda "just there" taste wise. Service/staff were kind, patient, and cordial. Nice to see!Bottom line: I will say I was impressed by the brisket and pulled pork enough that I will be a repeat customer!

Tonight I was a little disappointed in the meat. All of the meat was super dry. The restaurant was freezing so that made your food cold really fast. This is not the same as my past experience with this restaurant. Paid $250 for 5 people o be extremely disappointed and left hungry. The spicy Mac and cheese as great but the kids did not like the regular Mac. The baked beans were hard and runny. Not my cup of tea. Big waste of money tonight. Will probably try a different spot next time. Two star ls because the service was great.

There is a lot of hype about this place. So I got the pulled pork it was a little on the dry side which means it might have been yesterday's meat. Wife got the brisket burnt ends which were also a little dry, beans seemed like they needed to be cooked longer, Cole slaw was ok and potatoe salad I thought was pretty good. Definitely wanna go back and try it again but when I get something straight from the smoker.

One of the best BBQ places in SoCal. First of all I walk in and I see the amount of smokers and I was like this place is legit. It's a cafeteria style where you order your meat which ranges from brisket to various options of ribs/cuts.The ambiance felt like I was in Texas and everything just looked amazing. There was always a line and people kept piling food in their plates. The service was friendly and attentive to the food that I wanted. I personally got the brisket sandwich with mac&cheese. And a side of Banana Pudding. This place was an absolute experience
