Although this Indian grocery seems worthy of four stars, I'm only giving it three due to its slightly misleading name.I think when most Americans see or hear the word Asia, they think of China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and southeast Asia in general. This is why my friend and I were surprised when we walked into this store, named SpiceAsia, and discovered an Indian grocery. Not that there's anything wrong with Indian groceries, but it's not what we were expecting. I was expecting to find the kind of instant noodle bowls I had when I served in Okinawa; Korean short ribs; pad thai, chow mein, or yakisoba noodles; and so forth. Instead we discovered masala noodles, grey mullet steaks, gulab jamin mix, coconut powder, etc.I know many parts of the world India is considered part of Asia, as it's indeed on the Asian continent. There again, so is Russia. I think I would have been equally surprised finding borscht in this grocery as I was masala. So yes, it's a small, decent Indian grocery. I ended up buying some masala to add to some dinners with some extra curry, and trying the spiced, fried banana chips (which were delicious). I simply wish the place were called SpiceIndia instead of SpiceAsia.

Disclaimer: I know nothing of Indian spices and cuisine, BUT my wife does. I work right up the street and mentioned Spice Asia to her. We went today and were blown away! The staff is attentive without being overbearing, and were extremely knowledgeable. Offered us samples, (went home with almost all of them!) and established themselves as a go to spot for my family. HIGHLY recommend!

Spiceasia is a wonderful store in which you can get varieties of foods. It has spices, frozen foods, and I find my favorite snacks. Overall, Spiceasia is a great place for Indians from all over India. They have a good range of North Indian and South Indian brands. I also find pan ready fish from India.

Consider my review to be 3.5 stars. I agree with the other reviewer who said that based on the name, he expected to find more than Indian food here. That being said, I did enjoy looking around the small store. I was disappointed that not all the products were price-marked. Very basic layout. Products are just lined up on the shelf - no real effort to market things nicely. I'm not well versed in Indian cooking, but it looked like they had a nice selection of foods, snacks and spices - I did buy some snacks. On the plus side, the owner and son were both there and they were very nice! It also smelled awesome in there - can't remember if they had any Indian music playing in the store, but if not, it would be a nice touch to complete the smell/sound atmosphere. I'm glad the store is here in my neighborhood, and I'll be back.
