Southeast Asian Food To Go is such a great spot! It's a hidden Gem on Highland Ave.Can't believe it's been here for over a year, and I've passed by without knowing it existed.I'm so happy we stopped by today. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The inside is very well maintained and tidy. They have a good menu as they serve different/variety of Asain dishes from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. We ordered Thai: green papaya salad, Cambodian: beef/ chicken sticks, Vietnamese: Pho, Vietnamese: Bun luc Lac, Vietnamese: beef Banh mi, 6 egg rolls, and two Thai: teas with boba. The dishes are homemade with love. They taste like and feel like you we're invited to someone's home to eat grandma and mom's home cooking/ recipes.Definitely a great spot for some good eats!

Excellent service and warm reception. Small place but clean and comfortable. Ordered Pad Thai but did not taste as anticipated. On the bland side lacking the usual bit of sweetness, sour, salty and peanuty all together. Nam Kao Tod Laosian dish not bad but a bit too spicy. Cambodian marinated Beef Sticks flavorful but meat not very tender and on the dry side. Fried banana was good. Had to rerun fried shrimp for being too spicy (good flavor though). Sticky rice and mango was good but overall it was a mix feed back of different tastes. May have to come back again and give it another try and enjoy more.

god this was delicious!!! as someone of cambodian descent, it is really hard to find a place like this out here. they had such a good selection of different south eastern cultures food as well, like thai and laos. we got the steak parhok, beef skewers, and kwago! each were delicious on its own and together it made it a good nostalgic experience eating some cambodian food! and to top it off they had fried bananas too! such a full dinner for me and my boyfriend. the service was really nice and welcoming. at the end he was very surprised we finished almost everything, but in the moment my broken understanding of khmer was not able to communicate that to him the place is pretty small tho unfortunately. when we walked in initially to order, there was only 3 tables which we occupied at the time so we decided to wait next door. but we came back a little bit early before the food was ready and were able to snag a table. so sad to hear that the business is in risk of selling

This is the only restaurant that offers this variety of the most popular southeast Asian cuisine let alone the only restaurant that offers Cambodian food within a 60 mile radius. A true hidden gem in the IE. I will definitely be a return customer.

Friendly cook and server Sidney who were welcoming to us as well as all customers who came in to get food to go !Met daughter and my grandkids for dinner here!Indoor seating very limited to 3 tables with 3 chairs each!Outdoor seating also available!!Very limited selections for Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian and Laotian dishes on the menu!I just wished that dishes were labeled hot spicy if they were!Ordered :CURRY - a Cambodian flavor with cooked beef in yellow curry paste, coconut milk, potatoes, bamboo shoots, carrots, onions and served with white rice.NAM KAO TOD - a Laotian dish which is served on top of several loose leaves lettuce with seasoned crispy deep fried rice and fermented pork pieces topped with mint and spices. This dish was so spicy for my taste that caught me by surprise! Nothing was mentioned on the menu!!! But my hubby loved it!BEEF STICKS - a Cambodian taste of grilled ( 3 )marinated beef on sticks served with rice and pickled vegetables. Meat was flavorful but on the tough and dry side!PAD THAI - from The Thai cuisine was not the regular taste that we expected! This was served with over powering taste of too many bean sprouts, stir-fried noodles with eggs, topped with chicken, broccoli, and crushed peanuts ( not mentioned on menu)!!! SALT/ PEPPER SHRIMP- a Vietnamese fare served with sauteed shrimps that had slices jalapenos that made dish very spicy. My grandson's choice but was not expecting seasoning was jalapenos!!!! It was not mentioned on the menu that jalapeno was included!!! Sidney was very gracious enough to replace the Pad Thai and Shrimp dishes with the Beef Sticks to go!!! Thank you!FRIED BANANAS were battered sweet Plantain Bananas and so delicious !!! MANGO STICKY RICE was the highlight of our dinner that was prepared just perfectly with the sweetness of rice topped with mango slices !!!!Coming back in the future to have a taste of other dishes!!BEWARE ..... ask first before ordering !!!! HOT SPICY or NOT!!!!

My dear Yelpie friends recommended Southeast Asian Food To Go (SAFTG) for their authentic and excellent quality Thai, Laos, Cambodian, and Vietnamese dishes. After visiting here twice, I concur 100%! Thank you my friends. It's not a very big place... 3 to 4 tables available for dine-in. Atmosphere is very clean and comfortable. Free parking in the front and side of restaurant. Most of their orders are for to-go, hence, the name of their biz. Prices are very reasonable for the good portions. The owners are super friendly and nice. They would come to our table and ask how was everything. Their cook even came out to great us from time to time. They are very hospitable. Thank you SAFTG!As for the foods, most of the dishes we ordered were so yummy and delicious. First time we were here, we tried 5 dishes. Second time we were here, we had 8 dishes. I know, the count keeps on going up. Next time, who knows... maybe 13 dishes LOL. Thai Iced tea with no ice was very delightful with perfect sweetness. You can't go wrong with any of their dishes as shown below with a few exceptions. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of their dishes under each of the regions plus their desserts and drinks. See you here!!!Thai:1. Pad Sa-iew with chicken (noodles are a bit al dente)2. Pad Thai with chicken (a bit bland, need more tamarind and tang)3. Thai Iced Tea (I prefer this one over the coffee)4. Thai Iced Coffee (this was okay)Laos:1. Som Tum (papaya salad)2. Pad Keemao with shrimp (noodles are a bit al dente)Cambodian:1. Chicken Sticks2. Prahok Gthis (acquired taste, but still good)3. Sour soup with fish (special order) (excellent flavor with perfect sourness)4. Stir fried vermicelli with tofu (special order) (very very tasty)5. Fried fish with green mango salad dip (fish was perfectly cooked, mango was delightful)6. Ginger Chicken (great ginger flavor and lots of chicken)Vietnamese:1. Banh Mi with chicken (good soft bread with a nice crunch, chicken was well seasoned)2. Salt & Pepper Shrimp (huge shrimp, nice pepper flavor, but a tad salty for me)

I'm visiting for the second time this week, meeting my husband for lunch. After recommending their exceptional bahn mi to him, we're now trying their delicious beef bahn mi. We appreciate every aspect of their bahn mi, particularly the Khmer-style marinated beef and pickled vegetables. The bread is remarkably soft, crunchy, and warm. Their tuk prohoak stands out with its expertly balanced herbs and vegetables, surpassing most eateries in Long Beach.Follow with a friendly service we receive from the staff. Clean dining area

I am all for more South East Asian food influence in the IE! Sidney and Alina greeted me on a sleepy Sunday afternoon. It was St. Patrick's Day so Alina was drawing 4-leaf clovers on the dessert boxes. Scoped out the interior of brightly painted walls and super clean front of the house. Sidney mentioned the paper menu is more accurate than the screens so I went off that. Ordered my favs: (P) - dish included peanuts as a topping-(P) Nam khao tod (crispy fried red curry rice w/ sour pork sausage and herbs served with generous amount of lettuce for lettuce wrap style)-Pad kee mow (spicy flat noodle stir fry with mint leaves and choice of meat, we got beef; is really spicy; would order no spice next time)-(P) papaya salad (savory vegetable dish with spicy tangy salty sauce served with cabbage; ordered mild but was still on the hot side)-Bahn mi (served on fresh bread roll, topped with pickled shredded carrot and green papaya, inside had a generous spread of mayo, pate, and sliced cucumbers)-Mango sticky rice (served w/ savory coconut cream sauce)-Fried banana fritters (5 big pieces per box!)Really enjoyed the bahn mi. It had lots of good toppings like pate, fresh cucumber, fresh bread roll, and the crunchy shredded picked green papaya and carrot! I love fried banana too. Batter was just the right amount of thickness, coconutty sweetness, and super crispy. I would probably order all the spicy dishes no peppers (due to my bad acid reflux) since mild still packs a ton of heat. My least favorite is probably the nam khao tod as the recipe is different than what I've had before. The addition of shredded ginger plus toasted black and white peppercorn is an interesting twist. I think it adds a great fresh, ginger flavor but is a bit overpowering for me. Will be back to try everything else on the menu - including any upcoming secret items! I plan to get through all the items very soon!
