Came in on my Birthday for some delicious food. So many things I want to try but we seem to reorder some of our favs ! Service is very good. Place is fairly new and much nicer than the old place near DMV. Yay to that. Restroom is clean and tidy. We start with crispy green beans. Tempura battered green beans. Then ordered Shanghai noodle and mince pork with green beans and beef with mushrooms. You receive a bowl of white rice with your dishes. Rice is silky and quite good on its own. Someone started in on the Pork with green beans b4 my pic

Came here on a Sunday for lunch. The dining room was full with the option for half booths and tables. The restaurant had nice high ceilings and lots of items available on the menu.Service was prompt and we were given everything we needed with the exception of no chopsticks with the sushi. We ordered a bowl of the hot and sour soup, yellowtail sashimi, sizzling beef with black pepper and orange beef. This was served with complementary rice. The hot and sour soup was authentic and a good portion. Served a total of about 5/6 cups. The yellowtail was good but still needed to thaw a little bit. The orange beef had a great crunchy texture and the sizzling beef was tender served with carrots and onion. The rice was good quality and sticky. We would return. The cuisine was very good and the prices were fair. We also appreciated that the tables were not on top of each other. We hope for a little improvement with the sushi.

This was my second time here and I recommended that we have a retirement luncheon for my co- worker here. We needed a fancier Chinese restaurant with lots of vegetarian options. I was nervous as my first visit was not the best. I'm glad that Ruis pulled through for me today! First of all, our party of 11 were put in the smaller side room. I asked if we could move to the big dining room. They were very accommodating. The waiter we ended up with was very good! I didn't have to ask for water refills. He was on it! The food did take awhile to come out. Most likely because it all came out at once in a rolling cart. The good: Eggplant came out hot! It was good. Beware it is spicy! The basil chicken was surprisingly good! It had large pieces of jalapeño. Be careful not to bite into it. The Yan chow fried rice was excellent. I liked the pork sung on top. The scallion Pancake was crispy on the outside. It was tasty. The green beans were seasoned right. The green beans could have been crispier. The scallion beef roll were also very good except the beef was cold, otherwise I highly recommend. The general tso vegetarian chicken was a good choice. The veggie meat was crispy. The sauce was good. The bad: Kung pao chicken was dry. They could've used more sauce. It wasn't the best. The sizzling beef was a bit too dark. The beef was not tender.

Slightly better than Panda Express. Redlands is a quaint little town, I wasn't expecting much so this place exceeded my low expectations. One of the ways you know a Chinese place is legit is cheesy decorations that don't coincide with the holiday. I stopped by in January and they had both Easter & Christmas decorations. Another sign is really crappy service. This place had BOTH! We had the KungPow Chicken, green Onion pancakes(which were decent), peach Buns, red bean ball, egg drop soup, beef noodles (w/ no beef?), some tea & a Korean IPA. This is where the bad service came in. First off I'm an Asian, sure I came with a tall blonde white girl, but they didn't offer me chopsticks . It's fair to assume a white girl doesn't know how to use them but I'm ASIAN what's with the fork? 2nd thing is I ordered a Korean IPA which I was looking fwd to. I had to ask for a glass. When I poured it I was surprised it was dark. I looked at the bottle and though most of it was in Korean it clearly said "DARK ALE". I called the waiter over and he tried to convince me that they only had 2 Korean beers and this was their IPA. I asked to see the other bottle and it said "PALE ALE". He STILL tried to convince me that the bottle served was the correct IPA. The girl I was with said "IPA stands for Imperial PALE ALE."He finally relented and let me have what I ordered. He then proceeded to avoid our table the rest of the meal. In the last 5 minutes he pulled some wooden chopsticks from his apron and said "would you like some chopsticks?" I gave him a sarcastic smile and said "I did, but I'm kinda done with my meal. Would've been handy earlier."I still gave them a 20% tip. Will I ever go here again? If I continue dating that girl probably, because she likes it, and I have low expectations for service at a Chinese restaurant. The best restaurants in SF Chinatown have horrible service but the best food.

I have been to Rui's Shanghai Bistro once before, but for take-out only. I thought I had already did a review, but it looks like I haven't so I'm doing it now. After an amazing 2024 Yelp Falls Brew Fest, a small group of Yelpie friends and I walked over here for dinner. Upon entry, we immediately got our table with no wait time which was nice.Staff was super nice, friendly, and attentive. They brought our foods out all at once which was great. They refilled our water timely. Here's my take on the 5 dishes...1. Fish with pickled cabbage soup (medium spice) - Good amount of fish, pickled flavor was spicy and tangy. Very nice!2. Eggplant in garlic sauce (medium spice) - Excellent wok flavor! Good size eggplant.3. Mapo tofu (medium spice) - Probably should have gone with more spice, but then again, the numbing sensation came through at the end. This was my least favorite dish.4. Sauteed green bean with garlic - Amazingly tasty! Beans were crunchy! Great wok flavor!5. Chicken chow mein - Surprisingly good! Noodles were thinner than expected. More chicken would have been nice.Ambiance was cool and comfortable. Lots of dining space. Really high ceiling. They even have enclosed rooms for special events... they probably will need to be booked in advance. There's even a nice bar at one side of the restuarant.Overall, foods and service were on point. I highly recommend Rui's for any local or non-local resident visitor of Redlands. Come on by and check them out!

Like a lot of folks this seemed to be a great choice traveling through Redlands with some limited options but this a class act and a gem of a place . I read some ppl complaining about sushi but who would really order that in a Shanghainese restaurant lol? As per my pics you can see they have pretty darn authentic and tasty, such a surprise . Don't try and compare this to the like the SGV but very decent, clean, value for your money and hopefully the locals also support this place

Came here for lunch with a few of my Yelp friends. The food was really good. Definitely enjoyed the noodle dish. And the sesame seed balls were delicious. We also ordered the dumplings and the meat roll pancake which also was very tasty. The restaurant is decorated really nicely. And for the most part of the service was OK. We had to keep tracking down people to refill waters and get our check. But for the most part, it was a good experience with tasty food. Would definitely like to order sushi next time.

Very sad to write an updated review - but I've gotten sick now the last two times I've eaten here (about a year apart from each other). The first I had to go to urgent care for food poisoning and the second was just a really unfortunate few days. My partner was fine so not sure the cause, but it's definitely not a place I can eat again :(
