Restaurante la Oaxaqueña

I returned to La Oaxaqueña to have my birthday breakfast/brunch with my family since I raved about the food here. The service was fair on this visit, however the quality of the food was off (it was the same lady preparing the food on this visit as my last). We ordered menudo, quesadillas de huitlacoche and flor de calabaza, and a plate of chicharrón. We also ordered three coffees.The menudo was okay, but it was served lukewarm at best which was unfortunate. There were random pork bones with meat in it that seemed to be moreso for/from their pozole which was strange. We ordered the quesadillas plain (without lettuce/tomato/cream/queso polvo) and they both came out very greasy. The tortilla itself wasn't too bad as far as oily, but both of the fillings we ordered were exaggeratedly oily compared to my previous visit. Lastly, the chicharrón with nopales wasn't bad. Hoever, just like the menudo, the dish was lukewarm at best and the rice did not taste fresh.Unfortunately the coffee was underwhelming, and at over $60 for our meal, I was not impressed on this visit. I will likely be looking elsewhere for huitlacoche quesadillas.

Overpriced. Two burritos, potato tacos and a large drink for $50. That's wild. Inflation is real, especially at this place

Food (mole is my fave) was delicious!! It's so hard to find good mole and this was a good place. I will definitely be back, the service was great and the restaurant felt comfortable.

I have been going to this place for almost a decade. The traditional Mexican dishes this establishment offers would blow your mind. They also give great portions for your buck. I had the Quesadilla del Pastor which was a perfect combination of spicy and sweet with the meat and its handmade tortilla was crispy with a fluffy center. They had the fresh toppings like lettuce, tomato, crema mexicana and fresh made salsa. I recommend you go have a bit.

Chicken Taquitos and Chicken Quesadilla is the best Mexican food I've ever had! The quality brought me back to my childhood, you can't find a better place than this.

Decent at most based on the tacos. I ordered 3 asada tacos during my lunch and got charged regular price regardless of the website and pages mentioning taco Tuesday. I placed an order to go for 3 asada tacos and a large horchata and it took about 15mins or so but I didn't realize until I got to work how my receipt was and how skimpy the tacos are. You are better off going to your nearest El Gallo Giro location where they pack the tacos and they have great flavor hence it justifies the cost. My tacos were dry and flavorless ( would have rather eaten the homemade tortilla with slathered beans). I liked the horchata it wasn't too sweet or too thick. Might consider trying it again but definitely stay away from the overcooked asada!

I been coming to this establishment for quite sometime. I live around the area Handmade tortillas are great specially when you eat them as a quesadilla. My favorite quesadilla is the flor de calabaza. I've tried about everything, yesterday I had the wet chicken burrito with mole and of course my flor de calabaza quesadilla and it never makes it to the picture because I eat it right away and when I remember about the picture is to late. I would love to give them a 5 star but they need to work more on the cleaning of the place. Other than that the place passes the vibe of Oaxaqueña food. Is not authentic but the fact that feels homemade is a win win. The guys cashier is always very attentive, next time I will ask for his name .

I recently visited the Restaurante la Oaxaquena in Pomona at the request of a friend who is familiar with this place and suggested we meet here for lunch. The customers looked to be locals and a favorite with families. Looking at the menu board and hot food display section, I saw there were a lot of delicious options to choose from. I ordered the Chilaquiles de Mole with scrambled eggs, beans and rice. There is no table service so when my number was called, I went to pick up my plate on a tray. The chilaquiles were tasty and plentiful. I added some extra hot salsa, and the tortillas were covered with cheese and mole. The customer service was friendly and attentive, and I was offered a refill with my drink. There is a large parking lot in front and some street parking as a backup. Based on my first experience here, I would return and try some of the other specialty items which looked tempting.

Que paso? Antes la comida era muy buena ahora nada más sirven puro carne recalentada y el sabor sabe mal. Siempre ordeno una quesadilla hecho a mano con supuestamente "carne asada" primeramente esa carne no es carne asada era como carne deshebrada con un mal sabor. La verdad no sé qué pasó con este lugar quisiera que hicieran las cosas fresco como antes. No sé cuántas veces se recalientan la carne asada cuando ordena un cliente, porque aunque no se si se dan cuenta pero la carne recalentada tiene un sabor muy malo.... no creo que regresaría.
