We were hoping to see gorgeous autumn foliage but we had come here in December, so it was perhaps too late for most of the colorful leaves. Nonetheless, we were able to come to this nature preserve which is free admission. The nature preserve extends fairly far out and is a wonderful space to be present in nature. I enjoy being near water or trees and being able to essentially bask in the organic energy all around me.Maybe in the future I'll try to return to properly see the autumn leaves. Wish me luck!

A wonderful experience! Lots of parking if you enter from the side with the botanical garden. There's a few food options including delicious tri-tip, a general store that's affiliated with Los Rios Rancho, a beer garden, and a petting zoo for the little ones. The botantical garden is free and really pretty - there's some wetlands as well as trees and birds. There seems to be loads of trails, so you can choose to spend 30m or a few hours I imagine.

We walked through the preserve and it was great with my grandson whom is 2 1/2 because he could run on the trail, learn about different plants and trees. Toward the very back of trail, it goes down a hill which has a number of large trees, very pretty. We then ate our lunch at Los Rios after walking the trails at the preserve.

Next stop in our Oak Glen adventures was here. They're right next to Los Rios Rancho so why not.EXPERIENCE:Parking: Plaza parking for about 20 cars.Feels: It's probably in the middle of all the Oak Glen shops and gardens. This place in itself is pretty nice. The botanical garden isn't as large as I thought but it's a nice collective to see everything all condensed. We passed by a few trails and even Los Rios Rancho's Apple picking garden! Great nice getaway with nice plants, a few animals (squirrels, birds), and just lovely fresh air.CUSTOMER SERVICE:Great! The receptionist at the front was friendly and informative.OVERALL:4 Stars. I dig it. Lovely scenery and a great place to get a walk after all the good eats Oak Glen has to offer. If you have time, definitely check it out, especially if you're at Los Rios Rancho.Tips:- Check their website for events!

I couldn't believe that this whole time, this beautiful preserve that's FREE and GORGEOUS has been right up our alley. Just right up the street.. literally 15 minute drive!! There's not much one can say to explain the serenity and scenery of this preserve, you have to simply visit. Or you can just see the photos to have a good idea. Nice, 5 mile walk around this preserve. Came around April but I bet it's 100x more beautiful come Spring time when flowers are blooming and birds are chirping. They have events for kids (follow them on Instagram) and plenty of tables for picnics, just be aware it's not a camping site. It's other preserves are, but just not this spot as I believe it's their headquarters. Now that Forest Falls has been practically demolished thanks to high winds, fires, and heavy rains.. this is now our go to for peaceful getaways. Some areas have stairs so not great for wheelchairs or strollers, so bring a walking cane or baby carrier and you'll be just fine. Haven't tried them yet, but I believe they serve food and have horse carriage rides (reserve ahead of time). It was very foggy the day I visited, but definitely coming back on a clearer day! (And without a stroller)Highly recommended for all ages, families, dates, and those who just need to have some time away from the hustle and bustle of something called "life."Best things about this spot? Free parking and free entrance. Donations are welcome! Really happy we gave this a chance as we've wanted to visit for quite some time now, but thanks to the pandemic we had to hold off. Hiking and nature walking ethusiasts - this 5 mile walk awaits you!

The perfect location for a family hike! We came here with our little kids on a snowy day and enjoyed our hike while it lightly snowed. I believe they close when it's actively snowing. Lots of beautiful spots for photos. There's a sign for no professional photo shoots inside. And another sign mentioning past sightings of bears and mountain lions. Keep an eye on your kiddos at all times. Restrooms are available and clean.
