Mt. Baldy Lodge--ah, what a haven for the weary soul! Nestled among the ancient trees, beneath a canopy of stars that glittered like the hoarded treasures of a dragon's lair, I found myself closer to feeling at home than I have since the old manor was sold to settle my debts (a tale for another time). Here, amidst the warm glow of hearty ale and the company of strangers who felt like kin, I discovered a respite worthy of song. The ale! By the gods, it flowed with the vigor of a mountain stream and landed in the belly like an old friend dropping by unannounced--comforting, familiar, and just a touch mischievous. The lodge's hearth crackled merrily, as if in agreement with every clink of a glass and hearty laugh. The folk were friendly, their faces ruddy from the chill mountain air and perhaps a few pints too many. We toasted to life, love, and the occasional folly of man, while the lodge itself seemed to hum with a warmth that could thaw even the frostiest heart. But let me not tarry too long on the ale, for the true adventure lay just beyond the lodge. It was late, and the call of nature was insistent. I stumbled from the warmth of the lodge into the crisp night, the stars winking conspiratorially as I sought a suitable patch of earth to relieve myself. It was then, in my vulnerable state, that I came face to face with a small bear--a creature of the wild, its eyes gleaming with curiosity or challenge (perhaps both).Instinct overtook me. I squared my shoulders, steadied my ale-wobbled legs, and prepared for battle. The tussle was brief but spirited, a clash of man and beast beneath the towering pines. The bear, though fierce, was but a cub, and I soon had it in a friendly hold. Whether out of respect or sheer disinterest, it relented and shuffled off into the darkness, leaving me to complete my business in peace. I raised a toast to the little brute as it disappeared, my bladder and my dignity both lighter for the encounter. In the end, Mt. Baldy Lodge is not just a place--it is a feeling, a sense of belonging wrapped in the scent of pine and the taste of good ale. Whether by the hearth or under the stars, it offers a home to all who seek it, even those who find themselves wrestling bears in the moonlight.Five stars--one for the ale, one for the stars, one for the bear, and two for the peculiar joy of finding home in the unlikeliest of places. May you all be so lucky.

After an afternoon at Stoddard Falls, we went up a few more miles to see the town of Mt. Baldy. Lovely and quaint little town so we stopped in to get a coffee and dessert. Service is spot on as soon as we got there we sat near the fireplace and lo and behold it was turned on. It was wonderful so the ambience is amazing. We anticipate going soon for either lunch or dinner. Can't wait to be back.

Food was good and waitress was fast. They even gave an overall nice little bar with a pool table with that mountain vibe.

My boyfriend and I stopped at the restaurant after hiking Mount Baldy and wow what a treat. Arrived around 10:30 and grabbed a drink to start. Ordered a bloody marry and oh my god it was hands down THE BEST Bloody Mary we've ever had. Perfect mixture of flavors. Ordered a side of bacon to spice it up even more! The breakfast menu looked nice and simple, but we decided to wait to order from the lunch menu (started at 11:30). We decided on the bacon cheese burger and chicken tenders, both meals came with fries. We were BLOWN away with the fries!! They were so so good. Perfectly crisp and flavorful. The honey mustard to dip the tenders in was also perfection. Our server was incredibly patient and helpful with us. Had a great afternoon on the patio after putting in serious work on the mountain!

This is terrible legal advice. I followed it and got a $130 ticket from a forest ranger. I told him about this sign and apparently there are two levels of tickets for not having the pass. He said any Forest Service employee can write the $5 tickets, but some of them can write the full price tickets. A restaurant probably shouldn't be giving out legal advice, seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. My advice is take the extra 15 minutes to drive back down to a gas station that sells the "Adventure Pass". Two stars because their food wasn't bad, but not worth the extra $130 it cost me.

We took a trip in February 2024 up to Mt. Baldy Restaurant for a breakfast run. I've never been here before but I will most definitely return. We got there before the restaurant opened on a cool breezy Saturday. Traffic was lite and no delays. Located in the mountains of San Gabriel's/ San Bernardino forest. Small place with probably less then 80 seats and tables. We got to chatted with some of the locals while we waited for it to open. Everyone seemed friendly. As the manager/owner came out to let us know it will be a few minutes because of staffing issues. Not the start I was hoping for but it turned out ok. About no more then 5 minutes later we were all seated and we had a party of 10. We walked in and for a second it was like you were at a lodge, it had a very cozy cabin/lodge feel to it. Good morning all around from the staff and smiles were great.. Our server was really patient with us as we scanned the menus for food. Prices were great and reasonable. Our orders were put in and we kept busy looking at all the animals that had been taxidermy. It wI've never seen a buffalo that big before along with the dear, mountain lion, a jack-a-lobe and moose. They even had a small stage that they play music but no one was there in the morning. There had a old stone fire place just like the big lodges. Our food arrived HOT and very plentiful. Eggs were done perfect and very hot.. we had refills of coffee hot and hot cocoa for some. The service was again fantastic and that one server took care of the whole table. Bathrooms are one stall but I guess it's better then a out house.. Lolol In conclusion, in my humble opinion, here are the scores from Mt. Baldy Restaurant. Atmosphere: 10 out of 10Service: 10 out of 10Food: 10 out of 10Returning 10 out of 10 most definitely See you next time,Stanley
