Maniac Mike's Café - The Best Breakfast with a Side of Takeoff! If you love a good breakfast (even at lunchtime), friendly staff, and a solid meal with a side of airplane watching, Maniac Mike's is your spot! Nestled right at Upland Airport, this hidden gem serves up delicious food while small planes land and take off--basically dinner and a show, but, you know... for breakfast. The patio is dog-friendly, so your pup can judge your omelet choices while you sip coffee and soak in the sunshine. And the best part? I never run into anyone from work here. So, whether you're a fan of classic breakfast fare or just want a great excuse to pretend you're about to hop on a private plane, Maniac Mike's has you covered.

Whoever came up with the airport cafe idea is a splendid individual. It's almost like stepping onto a golf course and enjoying the tranquility. Visited with some friends for breakfast. The cafe is in the second building from the parking lot entrance closest to the planes. My friend saved a table for all of us indoors while the patio had a bit of a wait. Great staff & great service! We enjoyed our time here laughing, singing and savoring our entrees. Watching the planes land or take off is soothing. There's also some tables right next to the strip to get those perfect pictures. There's two parking lot areas one is right as you enter and the other is a little further back between the two main buildings. A unique breakfast experience. Fun fact: The earliest images found of an airport restaurant is that of the Sky Room in Burbank CA's Union Air Terminal (now Bob Hope Airport), in 1940.

This place is special. If this was in Los Angeles, you'd pay an arm and a leg for the novelty of being able to sit and eat while watching planes land and take off around every 5 minutes. But since this is outside of L.A. and an actual cafe at an actual small airport that real pilots use to stop by for a quick bite, the prices are reasonable, the food is decent, and it isn't swarming with crowds. In fact, if I hadn't come across a YouTube video about this place by an Upland native, I wouldn't have ever even known about it since it is a little out of the way.But that's also what prevents it from being so touristy. So even at the risk of making this place more touristy and crowded by praising it and telling people it's worth checking out, I'm doing just that.

I met a couple of cool and fun friends here for a last breakfast before I will be gone for a couple of months. We had such a great time here! I was also glad to finally come back here after such a long absence of visiting as I had last been here with an older friend that passed away. Our server was outstanding! I ended up ordering a coffee and a chili cheese omelette with double cottage cheese as the sides. My omelette was excellent and had great flavor! My friends and I shared our meals a bit. So I was able to have a couple bites of French toast, biscuits & gravy, sausage, bacon, and tator tots. It's always great to share and try as much as you can. After our wonderful meal, we went outside the restaurant patio and watched some of the planes Take-off and land. This was such a great time here! Thanks so much Lei & JDub for creating more unforgettable memories and laughter! Thanks also again to our wonderful waitress Tina! I definitely highly recommend you check this place out. It's located at Cable Airport off of 13th and Benson in Upland. Hats off to the hard working cooks. I will be back!!!

12/1/24 Surprisingly amazing food, service & ambiance!!! Hidden gem until I blew the lid...Met up with special & dear friends here at around 10:30 Saturday. I never knew this existed & it came highly recommended. I arrived late and Tina, our friendly & lovely server, greeted me warmly. Ordered a cuppa Joe--not bad at all! Got me a Denver omelette which complimented well with my 2 sides--tater tots, biscuit & gravy. I was not about to pass up on these two!! My friends ordered a chili omelette & (forgot the name of the combo) basic. over easy eggs, bacon, sausage & also biscuit & gravy. I ordered french toast to share. The vibe is simple, warm, accommodating. The staff certainly look happy to work there & show great teamwork. Tina made sure to check up on us regularly, so did her teammates. I can see myself being a regular here! Our food arrived shortly and everything was just delicious. The tots were crispy, the gravy was flavorful & so is my omelette. I couldn't finish it so I took the rest home for Hubby and he was impressed. He really loved it, too. Highly recommend this little place which is situated at Cable Airport. Plenty of free parking. This experience is phenomenal, would love to return to try other stuff on the menu. Thank you, Tina and the rest of your crew for the excellent service! You guys ROCK!

Really cool cafe to go to on a nice day out. The food is what it is - it's a cafe. I ordered an omelet, fries and biscuit and gravy and they're like any others you've had before. That's not a bad thing. Janice, our server, was awesome not just to our table but to every table around, including getting everyone to sing Happy Birthday to another patron which was fun. I was there with my in-laws, my wife and my daughter and we all enjoyed seeing the planes constantly landing and taking off; you can also go see the planes up close. A fun experience that any age group would enjoy.

I really wanted to like this place but it was a total miss. Came to sit outside and watch the planes for a Saturday morning breakfast. I was given an estimate of 10-15 for a table. After 15 minutes I checked in to see if the table was ready and was told it would be another 20 minutes. We opted to sit inside instead so we could be seated right away. Our food arrived (portions were on the smaller side) and the hash browns were cold. I let the server know that both of our us had cold food and we were only brought one new side. Got the bill and we were charged for two full breakfasts...Unfortunately I won't be returning.

What a gem! We love small airport cafe's and try and find them while traveling or better yet if they are in our general area. We found ourselves in Upland recently and made plans to go to Cable Airport and have breakfast at Maniac Mike's.We were not disappointed. They have a bit of indoor dining, and a large patio with heater's. We were seated right away, and scoured the menu. You will find the dishes named for anything relating to flight.Mr. B went with the Crop Duster, which was French toast, 2 eggs, bacon or sausage. Everything was fabulous. The French toast was crispy but melt in your mouth soft on the inside. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I went with one scrambled egg, country fries which were recommended by our friendly server, and sourdough toast. The country fries were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The restaurant is clean, the service was friendly. The staff truly seemed happy to be there. What is better than breakfast while watching small planes land and take off. We will absolutely be back the next time we are in the area, maybe lunch. Parking was easy, and it was awesome.

We absolutely love this cafe. This was our first time going as a family and I had my 16 month old who is obsessed with planes .the indoor and outdoor seating options are both great but the patio is amazing ! it's huge, open and lots of tables and chairs and my son was able to look at the planes land and take off he was so excited. the service was very kind and the food was fresh and delicious ! we're already looking forward to going again. for reference we went on a Wednesday morning but i'm sure it's really busy on the weekends!

Love coming to this restaurant! The servers are all incredibly friendly, We did try to come with our pet dog but were told after an incident they only allow trained service animals now so be aware! They suggested we do a Togo order and sit at the tables away from the restaurant so we could still enjoy the view with our pup. Portions were filling and the menu prices are extremely affordable(the price of eggs did go up, but it's not by much). All in all I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone trying to find a niche place to enjoy a good meal!
