La Michoacana Ice Cream

Located at the plaza on University Ave/Chicago Ave, this is hands down our favorite spot for Mexican ice cream! We typically go for their popsicles (paletas) rather than ordering customized items like their fruit platters (sandia loca), or milkshakes (malteadas).The place can get pretty busy, and the lines can be a bit confusing. The popsicle line is near the entrance, while orders for other items need to be placed at the back of the store. The speed of service can be on the slower side, but trust me, the wait is worth it. They offer a great variety, and almost every flavor we've tried (and we've tried almost all of them!) tastes fantastic.The ambiance is a bit basic, so we typically take our items to-go and enjoy them later. In short, no day at the pool is complete without a stop here for their amazing ice cream. Highly recommend!

Located on Chicago Ave & University Ave in the Dollar Tree Shopping Center with plenty of parking. We stopped here on Wednesday night after dinner looking for an appetizing dessert, so we were glad to see this Michoacana still open as it was shortly before 9 PM. I couldn't decide between a scoop of ice cream or a "Fresas con Crema," so I ordered both lol. I tried their "Chicle" flavored Ice-Cream which translates to bubble gum, it tasted exactly like it. Their "Fresas con Crema" (which is a cup filled with fresh cut Strawberries with sweet cream) were just as good! Both desserts were fresh, delicious, and very satisfying. They have such a huge variety of treats, such as Tostilocos, Aguas Frescas, Bionicos, Mangoneadas, Nachos, Paletas, Milkshakes, Tejuino, Elotes, Churros and so much more depending on your cravings. Service was friendly and efficient. The lobby is not spot clean, but it was acceptable during our visit. Overall, we had a good experience at this location.

Went to the Michoacana bought Horchata & got a fresh water not so fresh . The milk tasted spoiled & one of the employee said it was extra vanilla like if you can't tell a difference to expired milk . Then I explained I didn't want to get sick/diarrhea & the older employee lady said that it wouldn't do me wrong . Very wrong , very rude .

My favorite Mexican ice cream place in Riverside. Some of my favorites are the pistachio and bubble gum in a waffle cone. The mangonadas with mango ice cream are delicious! They have the perfect about of chamoy and chili. Make sure to get fresh mango on top! Lastly, I really love the frozen bananas dipped in chocolate with peanuts on them. I get a few to go and put them in my freezer for after-work snacks.

I love coming to this place. My favorite is the vanilla with the chocolate / walnuts (or pecans not sure) The workers are are really nice and quick

Churro $3.50 ,in 2024, warmed up from frozen then made whiter because of too much sugar granules.Still cold in the middle. Not piping hot and not a joy to eat. Worker didn't do it right. Worker needs coaching by pros.

We have lived in the area for about six years and have been regular customers, often stopping by when we get water next door. Recently, I ordered over $35 worth of paletas and one frozen banana, and I tipped the lady generously. However, when I got home, I realized the banana was missing. I checked the car to make sure it hadn't rolled out of the bag, but it wasn't there.Since my Spanish is not very good, I asked my husband to call and explain the situation. He spoke with someone who immediately denied any mistake without even asking the woman who served me. They accused us of lying, which was both unprofessional and disrespectful. When we identified the person who helped me, they made ignorant remarks, refusing to consider they might have made a mistake.My husband pointed out their unprofessional behavior and their baseless accusation of us lying. Only after this confrontation did they become apologetic and offer for us to come back. Out of principle, we declined. It's disappointing that as regular customers who have supported this business for so long, we were treated so poorly.They need a serious lesson in customer service and respect, especially towards loyal customers. This experience has made us reconsider supporting this establishment, which is a shame given our long-standing patronage and desire to support our community.

I usually come here while I'm doing laundry next door. Usually it's okay service and good Ice cream.Normally would give this overall 3 or 4 stars,But today the service was okay and the "fresh fruit" was alright but the watermelon had gone bad/old . My mom wouldn't eat it and I was ready to toss it, but $10 is $10. I was hoping I'd go back and they would replace the rotten watermelon with the pineapple or cucumber maybe mango, since 80% of the fruit is the watermelon that she kept throwing out. So I went back But the girl at the counter justified it by going to the back and grabbing a fresh piece, eating it and saying it tasted fine. I didn't want to argue with her, I asked her if she was going to do anything to help, but said if it (her piece) had been rotten she would. I wouldn't have came back if it (mine) tasted good. I didn't even eat over half the serving as she claimed, Very disappointed she wasn't willing to replace the bad tasting fruit. Sorry but never coming back here, just terrible service I was always willing to look past because the ice cream is actually decent tasting.

If I could put a negative star I WOULD!. I walked in around 8pm and there was a group of ladies working who seemed like they just got hired. One particular young lady who helped us was extremely slow to bring out our orders and still made them terribly. We had ordered a bionico which normally comes with mixed fruits but it was just cantaloupe and like three strawberries. I had to toss it out which really upset me since considering I spent more than 25 dollars for three items. We had also ordered a chocolate milkshake requesting for it to be thick and it tasted like watered down milk, absolutely disgusting. She was rationalizing everything as if it would come out of her paycheck!

Hi, I do not normally do this but let me explain why I gave this a 2 star! my dad and I LOVEEEE to go to the michoacana however today he went alone and purchased two agua frescas! The drinks were placed in a cardboard drink carrier that obviously had a handle to carry them easy... as soon as my dad got off the car the handle ripped.. he did not want to call because my dad does not like to cause any inconvenience but he called; a worker picked up and clearly told him "that was your fault and not our fault because you did not drop them at the store" and then automatically hung up like no please do not disrespect my father like that when it was not his fault. That was the absolute worst customer service anyone has ever given him/us. There was absolutely no reason to disrespect my father like that. Unfortunately we did not get a name but I hope something is done about this.
