Jade House Seafood & BBQ Restaurant

This restaurant has been around Diamond Bar for so many years. I've ordered quite a few times in the past mostly for takeout, potlucks and dinners. The interior setting is very outdated, I'm guessing it must be why there are hardly any dining patrons that frequent the place. This time, hubby & I decided to eat in one late Sunday afternoon. Got our order fast (Seafood pan fried noodle and sweet & sour fish fillet); compared to most places in Alhambra or MP, Jade may not be the best restaurant per se, but the food was tasty enough and we were satisfied. Overall, reasonable prices, simple, no-frills Cantonese food without the wait.

Combo: 3/5 duck was average. Not much real flavor. Portions are very little with the combo. Roast pork was ok 4/5 good but very fattyBeef stew: 4/5 too much turnip. I was hoping to get more meat. To be fair it was goodFish Maw soup was goodThe down side of our experience was that the tip is mandatory regardless of how many people were eating. I couldn't have known until I asked. The service was slow and didn't even refill our water. I don't mind coming back but I will not dine in. Tips should not be mandatory at all. I don't mind giving 15% if the service was excellent. Food was okay, it's not worth bragging about in any way. We tried their duck and we ordered half, but came out to be a huge portion. Taste was okay, has some "duck smell". The ambiance and furnishings were outdated. Service was really good, we were immediately attended to upon entering the restaurant. The experience was considered average, just like any aged Chinese restaurant this one needed that upgrade to attract more customers.

Jade House is a solid 3 stars. 3.5 even. It's incredibly affordable with daily lunch specials ranging anywhere from $10.95 to $13.95 (weekends included).My family recently ordered lunch from here:-roasted + BBQ pork platter ($14ish)-fish filet with black bean sauce ($11.95)-Szechuan style eggplant ($11.95)I ordered my usuals when it comes to places like Jade. The flavors were as expected - who doesn't love a good black bean something. The "Szechuan" eggplant was, thank goodness, void of any Szechuan flavor. It's just your regular ole Chinese restaurant eggplant. One thing to note was how very parched I felt afterwards. The chef here is a little heavy handed with the salt. And like with other Chinese take out places, the food was a tad oily.The food at Jade was serviceable. Was it the best Chinese take out? No, however I would definitely come back to try other things off their lunch menu.

My friend treated us to a lunch nearby his house. It's inside the mall with Walmart. Place is fast food with tables. It has HK style BBQ pork etc and dishes.On a Friday noon, we were one of 2 tables sitting, seems most of customers order To go and take outs. We ordered beef noodles, sweet & sour fish fillet and one spring roll (4) There are 2 kids and 2 adults. All the dishes taste good. So I think it is safe to order fast food Chinese dishes.Service is quick considering the waitress is wearing multiple hats and also manages the fast food dishes. It's more of 3.5 star as the place do need to be updated and menu and wall menus are a bit eccentric. Hopefully they can turn it around.

Bought half of a roast duck and an order of eggplant with beef over rice. Thought that the eggplant would've been more plentiful as well as elevate the taste. Still a pretty large to go portion. Roast duck had pretty good flavor! This Cantonese restaurant has become a regular standby for us with a variety on their menu. So far, whatever we have ordered has been good. Sorry for not taking photos!

Parking is plentiful. We arrived at 5:30pm and no one was there. We ordered the family Prix fixe menu and we were happy with the food, especially the lemon chicken. So crispy and flavourful. The rice was also something else. A bit on the oily side, but that's Chinese cuisine for you.I called the day before to order Peking duck and asked for it to be ready in time for our reservation so we wouldn't have to wait. They served it alongside the other mains - it did not disappoint! Such crunchy skin inside a pillowy soft bao, dipped in hoisin...we were in heaven.Service was fast and the employees are kind. They attended to our every need. They weren't stingy with napkins or to go boxes. All in all, even if the decor looked a little outdated and worn, we didn't mind so much. The food was the star of the evening and will be one of the many reasons we'll keep coming back!

I'm not sure what's up. I ordered the House Special chow fun. It says 10.95. I was charged 16.40 but I was also given an Eastroc Energy Drink. I didn't order the drink but I do like it. I'm not sure if the menu prices have not been updated and the drink was just kindness, or I was given and charged for something else as well along with what I got. Either way the food is great but I just want honesty with what I'm getting. I didn't get a receipt either so I don't know what's up. Overall it's good I just want honesty though or a correct pricing.

About the dirtiest place I've seen. I've tried this restaurant about 3 times now and the food is like any other Chinese restaurant, nothing special. However, I just drove to the back of the building to find parking and holy, I saw the horrors that went on in this restaurant. The cooks were smoking right by the back. When they were called in, they just wiped their hands on their clothes. Makes me wonder if they wash their hands when handling food

The bbq pork and roasted duck used to be acceptable here. I got roasted duck lately and it seems to be not as good as before. The bbq pork was dried and aged.
