Indo bistro has a wide menu that made me want to ordee everything. I ordered the Nasi bungkus, Nasi Kuning, and Nasi gudeg. It's basically a rice set with different items such as chicken, beef or vegetables. The Nasi bungkus had beef rendang, chicken, boiled egg, and kale. I liked the flavors but the beef was hard. The Nasi Kuning had beef rendang, fried chicken, perkedel potatoes, and sambal. I prefered this dish more because of the flavors that work well together. The Nasi Gudeg had tofu, boiled egg, chicken, jackfruit, and tempeh. This dish is a bit on the sweeter side. Definitely the best out of the three. They also sell snacks and deserts. A great option to pick up food.

I come to Indo Bistro fairly regularly-- It's close and very convenient, with fast service and a casual atmosphere, so it's perfect for when you're tired and just want some quick, homey comfort food. It's not particularly comfortable inside--if anything, it's somewhat dark and feels not the cleanest--so if you live close, you might want to just pick it up. That being said, service is good and friendly, so it's really just an issue with the old building space. Food here is generally good value, with the exception of the countertop items. These are a little pricy, like the stuffed tofu, which was $9 for three pieces. Compare this to some of the really loaded entrees, which are usually around $15. Definitely recommend the satay skewers. They come with a super delicious peanut sauce, but be warned that the sauce goes bad rather quickly. You should absolutely bring it home to eat with whatever, but just make sure you do it fast!

Second time here !This time we tried the:NASI IGA BAKAR which is BBQ ribs. Meat was very tender and coated with its flavorful sauce!NASI GORENG KORNET is a Corned Beef fried rice dish that's stir fried with egg, peas and carrots. SATE AYAM is Chicken Satay which is grilled marinated chicken skewers served with peanut dipping sauce !During our first visit to experience the taste of Indonesia Cuisine. We were able to chat with one of the chef to ask him what kind of seasonings are used in their dishes.Galangal has that peppery and earthy taste making their dishes yummy!Blended seasonings of nutmeg, cloves, pandan , candlenut, and black nut are mainly ingredients in Indo cooking !Hubby's and my first Indo experience was very satisfying that made us come back!We had the :NASI BUNGKUS PADANG, a banana leaf wrapped steamed white rice with savory crispy beef, curried beef, chicken, salted egg, coconut milk and chili sauce!!!!Loved the SATE PADANG which is Beef Satay made of tender beef tongue skewers served with a tangy dipping sauce.A dessert is a must which was served first before our meal !!!ES SHANGHAI, a shaved ice with palm seed, lychee, jackfruit, black grass cubed jelly and young coconut topped with condensed milk.Definitely will be coming back to devour more Indo dishes!!!

Mon and pops Indonesian bistro with small dry goods store section. Warm and friendly reception. Place clean. Have not tried Indonesian cuisine before coming here. Ordered nasi bungkus padam (banana leaf wraped rice with beef, chicken & coconut milk) & sate Padang (beef satay) and they were delicious. Got ES SHANGHAI for dessert (shaved ice w/ jack fruit. Palm seed, young coconut, black grass & lychee for dessert.,Sweet and satisfying. It was an enjoyable first time experience. Had to come back again about a couple of weeks later and try other dishes. This time we ordered beef bbq, corned beef fried rice and chicken satay. All good delicious and full of flavor. Peanut sauce matched well with chicken satay and sweet bbq sauce complemented the tender fall off the bone meat of the beef.Didn't have room for dessert anymore but we both enjoyed our dinner.Recommends a visit to this place for a good Indonesian cuisine experience.

Not from this area, but decided to venture here since it was on the way home. Ordered over $100 worth of food and products from their little shop and decided to sit down and dine-in with my friend and the food was just okay. I don't know how this place has a high rating. Be sure to also look at the negative reviews too. Just like a lot of people are saying, the staff here is very indifferent and cold. The place is a crusty hole in the wall. As an Indo American myself, I'm disappointed to say that I will never be back here again. :(

A great cozy & small Indonesian restaurant! There aren't too many Indonesian restaurants in the Bay Area so it's always great to have some down in SoCal. Great menu variety, and the dishes I've tried here all satisfy my cravings.I've had the sate ayam, risoles, mie ayam, gado gado, and nasi empal. Great portion sizes and prices as well. Sate was very flavorful and tender, and the peanut sauce it came with was amazing. It is a small business and can get pretty busy during peak meal times, so don't be surprised if there is a bit of a wait for your food.

I got the #20. Sorry I forgot the name of the dish and I failed to get a photo because I was starving at that point. Food was great. Will definitely be back.

I got the Nasi Bungkus Padang. First time ever trying Indonesian food. Incredible dish. What cuisine! The meats and rice were so well spiced and fragrant, the dish came steaming in this beautiful BANANA LEAF! The chili relish (2 types) that came with it were potent and paired well. The 3 types of meats had different textures (crunchy, stewed, and fall-off-the bone) which was amazing. The greens were yummy umami/coconut flavor, and the boiled egg was also nutritious. For $15 it's a great portion and extra meat and rice I am taking home. I would have loved some fresh toppings like a "side salad" type thing just for balance/ nutrition but nonetheless this is their cuisine and I'm sure not how the dish is supposed to come. INCREDIBLY CLEAN AND AIR CONDITIONED. Felt so hygienic here. The staff is always cleaning and so welcoming and nice. Great service and a cute array of Indonesian people eating here too which attests to its authenticity. Can't wait to try their traditional desserts (which I saw somewhere else that you can ask for reduced sugar).
