There's an unspoken rule in the food world: sometimes, the best thing a chef can do is leave well enough alone. At Ike's in Menifee, that rule gets trampled, toasted, and smothered in sauce. The sandwiches? Good--great, even. But here's the tragic twist: they'd be phenomenal if they weren't hellbent on serving them hot. Now, I get it. Ike's has a formula. Toasted bread, melty cheese, signature "Dirty Sauce" slathered on like they're painting a house. And sure, when you bite in, there's a moment of satisfaction--warm, comforting, predictable. But then you realize something's missing. The balance. The contrast. That crisp, clean bite of fresh, cold ingredients against a proper, unmolested roll. You see, Ike's sandwiches should be eaten cold. The flavors settle. The textures shine. The bread--already good--doesn't turn into a dense, chewy slab of overworked gluten. The meats and sauces get a chance to actually introduce themselves to each other instead of melting into one uniform mess. But no, they insist on cranking the heat and denying you the real experience. It's frustrating because the potential is undeniable. The ingredients are high quality, the combinations clever, and the portions generous. But until they give customers the option to enjoy their sandwiches the way nature intended, Ike's will remain a place of unrealized greatness--a sandwich shop that's this close to perfection but won't get out of its own way.Verdict? Good, but bring an ice pack.

If you're looking for a sandwich spot with options for everyone-including vegans, vegetarians and other special diets-then this is the spot for you.Been wanting to check this spot out for some time ever since it came out this way. Usually see them when I'm out in LA, but when I'm in LA there's so many more options that I choose to go with. While it's a variety of choices, I felt most I've had in some form and not all were original. I decided to go with the meatloaf sandwich and meat wad-both vegan. Although the meat wad is more meatball based and the meatloaf is well, meatloaf, they both seemed like sandwiches filled with meatballs. In fact, the meatloaf sandwich or Mack Daddy seemed like a full-sized Meatwad. I couldn't really tell the difference between the two. That said, I enjoyed them. I wasn't amazed but was thoroughly satisfied. I'd order again to try their Dutch Crunch bread and some of their other veggie sandwich offerings.

As a fan of "Ike's Love & Sandwiches" restaurants, I was excited and pleasantly surprised when me and hubby discovered this location when recently visiting Menifee. Although we had a great experience the first time we visited on a weekend day, we had a less than stellar experience when we visited the restaurant on a weekday. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by staff but had to wait a few minutes to have our orders taken since the two employees seemed overwhelmed with orders. The restaurant was well lit with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and has a colorful mural on a wall inside the restaurant. After a small wait, we placed our orders of a Willie Gault sandwich as a salad and a vegan Lovely Phyllis (an Menifee restaurant exclusive sandwich) for me and a Gramps sandwich for hubby.Twelve minutes later, we were called to retrieve our order and I was surprised when I noticed a sandwich was missing from my order. As I approached the counter to bring this to the attention of the employee, the second employee asked was I missing a sandwich and commented that he was finishing making it. My favorite thing about Ike's is that they have a large vegetarian menu with sandwiches that can be made vegan as well as exclusive sandwiches specific to the restaurant location. Another part of Ike's charm is the handwritten note on sandwiches after they are wrapped as a way to help customers determine which sandwich is theirs. I was annoyed that mine and hubby's sandwiches were wrapped but not completely closed and not labeled which lead to us having to open both to see which sandwich belonged to each of us.After this less than stellar experience at this Ike's restaurant location, I'll visit again due to their delicious sandwiches but will plan to limit my visits to weekends when it seems they have more capable staff working who can better balance customers entering the restaurant while making sandwiches in a quick and efficient way.

Customer service was amazing. The guy was super helpful with offering suggestions and navigating the menu. The little restaurant is super cute and welcoming. I loved their wall art, the masking tape, and the letter from KFC. The food was not good. I got two sandwiches, the Matt Cain? and their "Italian" option. It was my first time so I opted to just order it how they recommended. I got the crunchy bread on both and it totally clashed with the flavors of the sandwich. Way too sweet and crunchy. It was swimming in some garlicky mayo sauce and it was completely messy. The flavor of the bread overpowered the sandwich somehow. I couldn't even eat the bread on the other half and ended up picking at the meat. Maybe I ordered the wrong sandwiches to try for the first time. The sandwiches were really expensive and if the food was decent it would be justified but as it was now I have buyers remorse.

We have been going to Ike's for nearly five years, going back to our time in AZ. Ike's is an upscale sandwich place that any foodie could fall in love with.We decided to come here today, after skipping last week's crazy grand opening. Things were a bit more chill, but the food was as we remembered it. Nom, nom, delicious. Our sandwiches ran us about $16.00 each, see receipt photo. That's a fair price, given the post pandemic inflation and inline with that other guy across Newport from Jersey. The only difference is, we prefer Ike's subs better. No diss intended. The boss ordered the Alan Richman (love that guy) and I went with the Dirty Rueben, with extra meat. The sandwiches (see photos) themselves were great. But the other thing that Ike's has master, is the incredibly tasty bread, which has a nice crunch. Mind you there's a lot of new food places in Menifee opening up. But we have the closest Ike's, unless you want to travel fifty miles south to Poway, or up north to Chino. PS - If you are a true Yelp'er, try the Jeremy Stoppleman's Eggplant sandwich. I've actually had one in SF and it's totally legit. Btw, don't forget to pickup a Charms blow pop!

We belong to Ike's Rewards and were offered a BOGO for the soft opening of their Menifee location. Wee stopped by there on May 4th, 2024. We have eaten at the Ike's on Brookhurst, in Garden Grove previously but were not overly impressed with their sandwiches overall. We wanted to try this Ike's to give it another shot and maybe the location and franchisee would change our minds. We walked in and my first observation was the is location was kept very clean. We were warmly treated by a young man at the counter who was in training mode as well. He took out order:Wife: #6262-Logan Webb with no Teriyaki sauce ($16.50): Turkey, Bacon, Beer Battered Onion Rings, Godfather Sauce, Avocado, Pepper Jack and Cheddar Me: #91.5-Ike's Reuben ($15.50): Pastrami, Mack Sauce, Purple Slaw and Gouda2 SodasWe were able to grab a table when we finished ordering. There is a very limited amount of inside seating; there is an additional seating area outside to the right when you exit Ike's, at the end of the building. Our sandwiches were soon ready. For the price, I was expecting the sandwiches to be 11 or 12 inches. These were much smaller than that, They were adequately filled however. My wife absolutely enjoyed her Logan Webb sans Teriyaki sauce. She decided to save one half or sandwich for later. My wife said she would defiantly re-reorder the Logan Webb again. She ordered the #30-"Backstabber" at the Garden Grove location and prefers the Logan Webb sandwich.I meanwhile inhaled both halves of my sandwich. The pastrami was pretty good, and was not overly salty. Was not dying of thirst from the salt curing hours later which I really appreciated. I like my sandwich, but not sure if I would order this one again. The menu board at the Menifee location does offer more sandwiches than what is displayed on the Ike's Menifee web page menu. They also will make your favorite sandwich from another Ike's if you don't see it listed at the Menifee location's menu board. While we both liked our sandwiches, we will stop by here occasionally when we want a non-typical chain style sandwich.
