Glendora Continental

We've come here a few times now and will be putting it in our routine options, especially when we're craving a steak. I love that every time we come here it feels like it's filled with a bunch of local regulars. The waitresses know most of the people by their first name and it looks like everyone settles into their favorite booth or spot at the bar.I also love the decor and ambiance with that old steakhouse feel--dark wood, leather booths, low lighting and a bunch of TVs with different games on. You really can't beat it.If we can make it in time for the early bird specials (by 6:30pm) I always get the prime rib. It's delicious and plenty of food. Paired with a glass of wine and it's a great night.Stop by on Wednesdays when they have karaoke or on Saturdays and Sundays when they have live music. Either way it's a great spot and you should check it out. Cheers!

Unfortunately only one server even though the owner was there. And only a few tables with few guest. As I sat down, there was a long black hair on my plate under the napkin. I mentioned it to the waitress and she laughed and said is there someone under the table who did that. I really didn't think it was funny. Gross! And she just removed the hair. She had her hair in a ponytail loosely. Table cloth was dirty. Then we had to keep getting up to ask for certain things. Even though it was requested when ordered. It seemed like the waitress was in a hurry not patient at all when questioning about the menu, irritated. Mushrooms in garlic butter were delicious.Salad was good amount.Ahi tuna very dry and hard.Prime rib over cooked and hard to chew. Vegetables were good. Not too soft or too hard just right.Potatoes good flavor. Crème brûlée had a 1/2 teaspoon of mango with made it very tasty. 1st time for me. But my friend has been coming here since who knows when. He said unfortunately, Service has gone down hill.

Made a reservation, they called me back to revise the time. When I called back, a rude bartender answered "I don't care what they told you, we do not accept appointment at the time you said"!!!First of all, don't enable the website reservation feature if you don't have a sophisticated process to make sure the time selection is within your schedule. Secondly, own up to the mistake you made or at least try offer a solution instead of being rude to your potential customer!

So today's review is probably the strangest post I've ever had to do. First off, I try to give a honest and fair assessment of the establishment as possible. Having a neutral approach is the key. So here goes. I've passed by this location probably a gazillion times over the years and never stopped. Had a friend that had a luncheon and she said the food was great. A few Saturdays ago, I decided to stop and get lunch, It was 11:00am. When we pulled to The Continental in Glendora. The Continental is a much older establishment and from the street you'd never know it was still in operation. The grounds around the building are in need of a major facelift. The huge parking lot easily supports 40-50 vehicles (estimated). The handicap stall was few maybe two. Lighting at night and the sign outside are bright and clear. Only 3-4 cars in the parking lot at this time. There are three ways to enter, the front door and both side doors. As my friend tried to open the front door it was locked, leading us to believe that they were closed. She then tried the side door while I waited in my car. She went in for a second and said with a smile on her face, "O You gotta see this". As I entered I was transformed back to the 70's and 80's !!! I had never seen this kind of atmosphere at a restaurant in a long time. We stepped into the bar side of the restaurant. First thing I noticed was the bar and I would guess "The Regulars" that were lining it. NOTE: I haven't been to a bar since my college years and I was taken back to see so many at the bar drinking at 11:00am. Please note, I'm not judging anyone. The bar had seats for about 15 and 13 or so we're taking. As we made our was to the area in the middle they had smaller tables all in a row probably 10-13 tables with chairs. To the left were booths about 8 or so and what got me looking was the lite brown color with old school tuck n rolled upholstery !!! Haven't seen that in years. As we headed to one of the tables I tripped on the carpet and noticed that the carpet haven't been cleaned in decades because it was black with small color highlights, but the reason I tripped was because the carpet was ripped and they tried to fix the rip with ducted tape that has now disintegrated over the years. I was feeling on edge. As we sat at the small table the server came over and said if we would like to sit at the booths and I said no it's hard for me to get in n out of them. So with a great smile she gave us some menus. There was another lady with a clip board that came out and was counting the tables, at least 3 or 4 times. I figured it was for a party soon, then she locked her eyes on us,, not just once but several times. Feeling uncomfortable as it was, I asked if there was a problem and she said that she needed our table for a party and she wanted to move it into place. I then asked, what time was the party ? she said not until 7:00pm. with an attitude. I kindly answered we'll be long gone before then... In looking at the menu I noticed that the prices were good and a selection that was good for lunch. Not sure if they had another menu for dinner service. We made our choices I had a patty melt and my friend had the Continental (I think) with onion rings and mine was fries with no salt. Our server smiled and said I'll put that right in for you and put our drinks on the table. I noticed on the sign outside that they had karaoke on certain nights, then I saw a small dance floor and the stage. I immediately noticed that the stage had several large black stains on what I think used to be carpet and the drapes by the stage were in really bad shape. Three TV were on and they were in three locations. Also a kino tv. As our server came back to tell me that the fries has salt on them already. Ok so can I have a small salad then, in which she said with a the greatest smile. Our food came next and the plates were REALLY HOT !! Not sure if it was microwaved or food heating lamps.. I have to say that the food lived up to great food standards. I had a great patty melt and my friend was pleasantly impressed with the food as well. I have to say, if it wasn't for the kindness of our server I would have walked (Ran) out of that place. Here are the number, in my humble opinion, on The Continental in Glendora. Appearance: Negative 12 out of 10. Food: OUTSTANDING 10 out of 10.Cost: 8 out of 10. Staff: Our server only 12+ out of 10. Return: I think you already know but it's a negative. Side note: I been in a lot of places but never so run down as this place. I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. A lot of reviews on yelp and probably return customers and regulars. What can I say. A beautiful time machine into the way back when. Great food, great drinks, great vibe. You don't just go back in time, you leave California when you walk in the door. Friendly bartenders and servers, great people, great conversations, just greatness across the board!

They got really good food i like the atmosphere here great karaoke on Monday nights the workers here are nice God bless them they keep the place clean the people who come here are nice God bless them they manage this place good

Another solid meal with Brandi rocking the service. Tonight had Prime Rib with scalloped potatoes and mixed veggies started with a bowl of potato leek soup. Cocktails are also mixed right and with plenty of ethanol if you know what I mean!

Kathy is amazing! Good drinks, multitasks well and has fantastic ideas. I love bingo night. First time playing, first time winner. Tip Kathy for her amazing hard work.

This is an update and it's week overdue. The restaurant is the last dinner house in Glendora and. The Continental has kept it's old time charm and quality in their food and service. The chef is amazing! I'm particular desserts!!! I usually get the chef's special, but the tried and trues stand on their own. I go always saying I'm going to try something different, I get the prime rib. My LAWD , that prime rib! Best in the area! The people who are serving are often the owners or family and are so friendly and polite. My father and his friends are regulars and they make sure they stop by, say hello and always know their particular order or preference. I'm the bar, I haven't been in years. However, I love they have live music and keep the locals entertained. The 5th Star is missing because while I love the old time atmosphere, some updating needs to be done. It was also an average of my 2 start prior, so, I would definitely recommend The Continental for a classic super house experience and great meal!

We had only been here for lunch and wanted to try out their dinner menu.When we walked in, we could see and hear the bar area was busy.The manager greeted us, and we were promptly seated.He was very pleasant, and we enjoyed his humorous demeanor.Our waitress Jessica was even more pleasant and jokeful. We loved the atmosphere they both created.We each ordered our various dishes, and we were not disappointed.The food was hot and tasted great!We definitely will come back!
