Nice place, very spacious and hospitable / drinks were good and priced reasonably, it's up on a hill so there is a great view, we went for a friends quice and was pleasantly surprised,there was armed security and the food was excellent.Bar area was very nice.

A good friend of mine has been coming here since she was born. Literally. Her family introduced me to the elks lodge and now I feel like part of the"elks"family. Her son got his first job here, thanks to the remarkable managers. Regarding the location, the lodge is literally lodged back into a hidden mountain side. Which its great because highland avenue in san berdo isn't what it used to be. It is very clean inside and spacious. It seems there is always something great going on here. They keep the holidays entertaining with fresh ideas but I have to say that the $ 20 all you can eat crab is still my favorite!

I have attended 3 events at this place. Each time I have been the food is good, the service is fast and efficient. The place has a large wooden dance floor, and a well stocked bar and very clean. Further, the view is breath. I highly recommend this place for any occasion you might have.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!I started wedding planning through them, and they made everything sound wonderful as thought it would all be easy on my part and well taken care of. They sounded great... till they got their deposit.... then EVERYTHING changed!!! They pitched me on the tuling that would drape from the ceiling.... but then said that it wouldn't go well in the room that I rented so then they retracted their suggestion. They said that they were going to import flowers for the outside arbor to make that look beautiful, then I later found out that that was never going to happen either. They wanted to charge me $1,100 for champagne toast for 80 ppl! Insanely priced!! Then I asked if they have anything for a guest sign in table, and they said I could use their old buffet table in the hallway... it was ugly, small, and outdated! Not wedding like at all! After all of this... I was still going to stick with them and just deal with it.... till I found out about the 200 ppl quinceanera in the next room over that they booked for the same day! The place is NOT big enough to host 300 people comfortably!!! I tried kindly asking for my $400 deposit back so that I could just go somewhere else only 4 weeks before my wedding and they refused to. They only had my deposit for a couple of weeks. This place is unprofessional and absolutely ridiculous and completely frustrating!! I WOULDN'T SUGGEST ELKS LODGE #836 UPON MY WORST ENEMY!!! Personal suggestion...Save your time, money, and wedding and go anywhere else but here!!!

SBHS had their 50th reunion here last Saturday. It was a great place for our event. The room was spacious and the tables were decorated with our school colors. We had a buffet with mushroom chicken and tri tip. The food was excellent!! There was enough room to meet our needs. We had a slide show and the only main complaint was the sound system, which is why I gave 4 stars. I appreciated that we also had security. There is a beautiful view from the parking lot. I would recommend having an event here.

If I could give zero stars I would. Where do I start? My fiancé and I are expecting are first baby and wanted to throw our baby shower here. After calling multiple times and never receiving an answer or a call back we visited the location. We first spoke with Cheriese. She showed us the room that would fit our amount of guest and proceeded to give us an estimate of $1330.00. One thousand for the room, $165 for the bar and 165$ for the abc license. She did also mention there also would be a $35 fee for security but only if we chose to have the bar. I also confirmed with her that it was okay we had our own catering which she approved. We were then handed a brochure and we went on our way. I sent an email to start the booking process on April 23rd. I didn't receive a reply so I sent a follow up email on April 27th and finally received a reply with the invoice. The invoice had a price of $2,218.38. Now I understand we were provided an estimate before not an exact amount however 1330 and 2218 is a very big difference and 1330 was definitely not a good estimate. I start to read over the invoice to see why the amount got so high. I noticed I was charged $1000 for the room ( the brochure states it's $950.00) I was charged 200.00 for liability insurance which no one mentioned. $22 each for linen which again I was not told we HAD to purchase theirs. $165.00 Service personal when I had already stated we were having our own catering and $136 for security when I was told $35.00. I also was charged gratitude when on the brochure it states on food and beverage which they were NOT providing. I called and spoke with Eileen who had terrible customer service and not a care in the world. She told me the reason the room was 1000 was because I was bringing in my own catering? Fine. Then she said the service personal isn't optional and they weren't charging me gratitude on food on beverages but because I was bringing my own catering? Which is very misleading and confusing because I'm already paying an extra $50 for the room for the catering. I felt extremely ripped off and at that point I asked for the bartender to be removed since they are removed the abc license needs to be removed and so did security ( we were told security was only needed if we had the bar and it also states this on the brochure) I also told Eileen the gratitude needed to be removed because I did not agree with the excuse she came up with. She then clearly gets frustrated and says she would get with Cheriese to confirm some things and would get back to me. Ofcourse they never did and I had to call in order to get a new invoice. At this point I was extremely irritated with how they had been doing business. When I got the new invoice it still had security on it and the gratitude with a new price of 1858.00 ( still no where near 1330.00). Now this is when I'd like to mention that I'm Mexican and my fiancé is black. I truly think not only did they not want to do business with us but they would refuse to do business with us if we didn't allow them to watch us like children. The brochure clearly states security is only needed when the bar is opened, Cheriese her self said we only needed security if the bar was open. So the fact that the security ARMED security at that was still added on the invoice felt very racially motivated. When I called to inquire about the security Eileen picked up extremely unhappy to hear it was me and She then AGAIN gave the excuse that it's because I'm having my own catering and that the brochure was voided because I'm bringing my own catering. I was handed the brochure by Cheriese so why would she give me a brochure when it was going to be voided due to my catering thats absolutely ridiculous. I asked if she could please just have Cheriese call me this was on April 30th and today is May 5th and you guessed it I still have not received a call or an email. The entire time they were unprofessional and not welcoming. They clearly never wanted our business and had no shame in misleading us and setting the wrong expectations. This business is racist and I'm glad we aren't doing business with them. I recommend that you don't either and save yourself the headache.

Also the looks of the places is great two. When inside it has an amazing view and outside there is an amazing view at night from the parking lot which is very amazing

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Save your money.Eileen deceived us many times. Do not trust her to put together your wedding. Not only did her pricing constantly change, there were many times the price did not match the brochures. They need updating. Eileen promised me that I could come the day before my wedding to decorate. She told me and my husband that multiple times because that was one of our main questions when we came to view the venue. Her word were " we are usually closed on Thursdays but we can get you in to decorate if you call me prior".I called her Wednesday to see what time to come in on Thursday and Eileen huffed and said " We are usually closed on Thursdays soooo... " and I was like, " you told me to come the day before to decorate... I already have my DJ and my florist coming in and my DJ said he was in touch with you..." She huffed again and said " the tables will be ready at 12." And I said " Okay. Thank you, I will be there at 2:45 pm, if that is okay" She said "Okay" We arrive and the gates are locked, on thursday. I call Eileen and she says, " Well, we're closed Thursdays"I said " You told me yesterday I could come." And she said " well we are closed, I'm sorry"THE DAY OF THE WEDDING We find out that somehow open bar does not mean that you payed for everybody's drinks. You pay for the bar to be open. I made it crystal clear at the meetings that my Aunt wanted to pay for the open bar. Eileen did not stop to tell me that it only meant for the bar to be open. So when my guest walked up for their drink, they were surprised when they had to pull out their wallet. We all thought we had covered the drinks with the $455 my family shoveled out.But that $455 was just for the bar to be open.TACKY. So when my husband spoke to Eileen, my family had to dish out another $680 on tab. So my family payed $1135 And then when me and my husband went to the office to hide before we were announced, there were roaches. Eileen was very rude to my mom when she called the day of the wedding to set up. She had no urgency to help the day before or the day of. But she had the urgency to take our money.

Poor communication from staff throughout the booking process. Rude and vague responses from all staff members at this facility. When conflict arose due to their lack of organization, they respond "I don't know what to tell you". When confronted with legitimate complaints they took no responsibility, placed blame on clients and said, "sorry you feel the way". I can assure you my response is not based on sheer emotion or feeling as I have email evidence of questions unanswered and phone calls that produced no better result. Extrodinary lack of basic event planning/communication/problem solving/guest relation skills. I've never had a worse experience.
