Pupusas are good.Tamales are ok. It's all dough and a small chunk of meat and a piece of potato. Not worth the price of $3.95 each.

Don't ask me why, but my Korean wife is a huge fan of pupusas. We've tried a number of pupusa places within a 30 mile radius and we really liked the food here at El Pulgarcito. She ordered two pupusas, one with pork and one with shrimp, and both were delicious. The curtido and salsa roja that comes on the side are also top notch.I ordered the grilled fish filet plate (Filete de pescado a la plancha) not expecting much because I was thinking this was mainly a pupusa place but it was really good! The fish was full of flavor.Service was really friendly too. We will be back for more!

I was eagerly expecting a wonderful el Salvadorian meal reading all the great reviews from Yelp. Come to my disappointment, the restaurant is lacking in food quality and service. The service was sub par, not overwhelmingly welcoming and nice. The pupusas are ok, nothing that has wow factor. I gave 3 out of 5. The salsa is pretty good. The most disappointing meals were the beef steak with onion and chicken fajita. Both the beef and chicken were dry and tasted like they're frozen meat, defrosted and cooked it before they served it to us. It wasn't juicy and tender by any means. As for the pricing, around $18-$20 for a meal, I'd definitely take my money somewhere else. It's not worth it, my jaws hurt chewing on the steak and chicken. As much as I love supporting new businesses, I can't go with this one. PS: The waitress informed us it'll take about 30-35 mins for the food to come because they prepare it fresh. It was about 30 mins when we received our orders, not sure about the freshness.

I really wanted to love El Pulgarcito because I'm a huge fan of pupusas and usually have to drive quite a distance to get my fix. So when I heard about this place, I couldn't wait to try it. I ordered 12 pupusas to go, but to my disappointment, 6 of them were not what I ordered. I only discovered this once we got home, which was a letdown. The pupusas themselves are not bad, but they didn't quite hit the mark compared to what I'm used to. My husband and three boys were also left unimpressed. On the service side, don't expect much in terms of smiles or courtesy from the staff. Employees seem moody. On a positive note, I did appreciate that the place was nice and neat, and there was plenty of nearby parking.

I'm happy to see a Salvadorean restaurant in Chino. Located near McDonalds and Home Depot. I've been wanting to get some pupusas, they have a good variety. I got their Salvadorean sausage and cheese pupusa ($3.95) which came with a good portion of salsa roja and curtido. The pupusa was a good size, crispy, the batter was moist. The cheese was melted nicely with bits of sausage inside. I also tried their Carne asada ($18.95) which came with chopped salsa, beans, rice with grilled vegetables on top of the asada. They did forgot to give the plain pupusa that comes with the platter until I was almost done. The steak was well marinated and grilled nicely. Kinda fatty and it was good portion. The staff is nice and the place is clean with a good amount of seating.

We had the pupusas with chicharrón and cheese. The pupusas are big, so you may get full with one. We also had the fried plantain, eat it right away. It does not taste the same when you let it get cold. The agua frescas are fresh and really good. I had the Jamaica, big size and very refreshing. The restaurant is small. It can get busy during rush hours. The service is excellent and very friendly. The prices are reasonable as well. The restaurant is located in a shopping center, so there is plenty of parking .

Let me put you on to a local pupuseria. El Pulgarcito has only been open for about a month in Chino and glad that I came across this hidden gem! The jalapeño and queso pupusa was packed with flavor. They also have vegan pupusas. I had to order the platanos con crema because sweets after dinner is a must! This is located behind the McDonald's, plenty of parking available. Great and friendly service.

Oh, I'm heading back for breakfast because the food is absolutely amazing! The pupusas and slaw were top-tier. I'm so glad this place is local. My husband and I stumbled across this hidden gem, and now we're hooked! Also the horchata with the great chocolate notes were so top tier! Service also was pretty quick!
