This review in re: The Daft Punk v. Crystal Castles night at Flyway. The main mixup had to be that very little Daft Punk or Crystal Castles was played at the event. I almost thought it was an 80s night with the Bowie and When in Rome I heard. There was a screen that projected a montage of photos of club attendees from previous events with the occasional Daft Punk robot picture mixed in. Other than the occasional photo, I found the house and electronic music non-existent on Daft Punk v. Crystal Castles night. There was some dancing, but the Flyway photographers regularly interrupted it to snap photos of people posing as if they were having fun. One star for trying too hard in ironic and sad fashion.

****THIS REVIEW IS ONLY FOR CLUB ROCK IT WHEN ITS HOSTED AT THE FLYWAY****Well what can I say.... never again (Unless it's free entrance). My friend and I decided to go out on a Saturday night for a much needed girls night out.Her and I love Club Rock It. When we had the free time and money, we'd go to Club Rock It on Thursday nights at El Carnaval. We loved it! It was our place to be at when downtown Riverside was dull.Upon arrival at 10:20pm we paid 10 dollars. We were excited to go to the new location at the Flyway, for her and I have never been.Upon going up the first set of stairs we noticed the first outside "rooftop" patio playing hip hop. It was pretty dead. One more set of stairs up and it took you to the main 80s dance/ performance area and their outside patio. The main room is extremely small. It's very hard to dance and CONSTANTLY had HUGE security guards going up and down the dance floor. (We found that extremely annoying, for they kept bumping into us) .... The outside patio would of been nice touch if you couldn't hear the hip hop music on the second outdoor patio .... also, the SECURITY guards are hypocrites.... my friend and I were standing next to the building while she smoked a cigarette and the SECURITY guard told us we couldn't smoke by the building and had to smoke on the other side where the glass wall is located .... minutes later there was a guy calmly smoking his cigarette next to the building and the security didn't say a word to him .....We stuck around for a bit in the 80s section and listened to the cover band of the night, which was very good. After that, it got boring and went down to the hip hop section. It was full of private booths and little tables that left no space to dance. It was somewhat crowded and people kept ordering elaborate bottle services where THE HUGE SECURITY GUARDS kept bumping into us just to walk the waitress through to the tables.... If that wasn't bad enough, the crowd here was very obnoxious..... and had a high school vibe...there was this one weird guy pretending to be a "rapper", lip synching all these words as he stood up on one of the couches... girls were all twerking next to him and in front of him .... it was .... weird .... After that we just left, it wasn't very fun.Limited space to dance was our first complain And the second worst thing at this club is the HUGE SECURITY GUARDS bumping into us all night!

Awesome 80s club. I love coming here on Thursdays! It's a big venue, they have drink specials (sometimes) and the cover charge is good. ($2 if you RSVP on Facebook & arrive before 10pm if not, $8 all night) They've definitely changed a lot of things over the yrs but I still like it. They do a lot of tribute nights (either the DJ plays hits from a certain band or they have cover bands come in and play. Usually starts at midnight). Sometimes they give out pins or t-shirts too. There are two rooms, the 80s room and the top 40s hits room. I personally don't like the 2nd room. The people in there can be rude and are usually obnoxious. The 80s room is always nice and you can dance with no worries of people getting upset if you accidentally bump into them. It's a better vibe and of course the music is better lolI would recommend it to anyone who loves 80s music. There are people of all age ranges and there's hardly ever drama (except in the 2nd room lol) drinks are reasonably priced and I would suggest you go to the female bartender. She makes the drinks really good!

Fun times. I just hate it is so far, and I have to pay to get in! I like the music! But it is worth the drive with the music. I've only been here twice. Nice eye candy

A solid little hang out for dancing and drinks. We went for a few hours to celebrate my sisters birthday. I like that it's close and not in LA and I love the music! My husband and I love to dance but we haven't been to a club in quite some time. It was a bit weird but the environment was chill and we were in good company. He made me laugh because he said, " I need to protect you!" "From what?" I replied" From the Mate Poachers of the world!" I died !! I didn't mind his arm around me for the night. Even though it was hot and I was getting sweaty and we could only dance in the corner with my sister and her friends. I didn't mind at all ( makes eyes big and looks around) Yes, there were more than a few on the prowl but all in good fun! If I were single, 22-25 this place would be THE PLACE! The birthday girl had a blast and we all thought the service great considering how crowded it was. I would come back to attend a celebration but my scene is a bit more of the rooftop lounge, cozy speak easy or wine bar crowd. For now, we prefer our private dances ;)

You've switched places with a business behind where you used to be. Why take pictures of only females dancing. If I was the owner, I know I'm not, I would definitely have anybody on the picture or videos, or at least on the rear view visor. Unless club rockit isn't unisex anymore than I shall definitely stop coming and I know lots of friends will to. Change that camera man. First of all he needs to be doing something else, not the picture/video taker. If you have other guys taking the camera I'm sorry, just talking about thursdays

Came with some friends that frequent here often, was super fun. I'd say that it's really good for people that love 80's music mainly, but the patio also had good rap music too. The lady bartender made some near perfect drinks, not too strong but just right. The only complaint I have is that the dance floor was very sticky but I'm not sure what they could do to constantly have to clean up after the spillage all night so I could deal with it for the awesome music.

It's usually free before 10pm with a flyerNew Castles at $3 before 11pmThe main room is 80s, but they'll throw new indie in it for the youngsters. :-/It's 18+ and it shows. They have half naked go-go dancers on 4x4 boxes in the middle of the crowd.Their photographer is better than Blue Mondays' but he'll get a bit corny with how provocative he wants the girls to pose. :-/They don't play with theme nights. For years it's been either The Smiths, Madonna, or Depeche Mode for tribute nights. Maybe Billy Idol. They've been making a gradual shift towards offering more variety. There's a second smaller room for hip-hop, Top 40, even salsa. They do bring the Ramones tribute band Gabba Gabba Heys. They put on such a great set and have said they'll be back in March. They large screens projecting 80s movies, cartoons, etc are a big plus :)

I've gone here three nights, and i always hope to go every thursday! In comparison to Blue Mondays of course, it doesn't win. It is cheap, for an 8 buck entrance and free before 10 with flyer. I love 80's music, and they usually play the best and well-known songs towards the end, usually past midnight. There are two stages, the larger one plays 80's with two large TV screens showing various movie clips, 80's commercials, music vids etc. Its awesome! I love the crowd here! Everyone is dancing without a care in the world and there are many guys that are groovin' alone, it's great haha. I would recommend any 80's music lover to join in! and if you like to get grinded on or grind on others, the other stage will suite you. I enjoyed it one time when they played music like Cypress Hill and Usher etc.

Came here due to false advertisement on their social media. They claim free entrance before 10pm if you RSVP and arrive there at 10, however, when I arrived they said free entrance was only for those who RSVP before 8pm. As I was trying to explain to the employee that this was not advertised on the online flyer he stated it was on some of them. He made his claim as an elevator door was closing and no clarification could be made. I went back to their social media to confirm that it was stated that the RSVP had to be made, however, this was nowhere to be found. Although paying for entrance is completely reasonable, I would never attend a place where they lie to get people to go.
