Captains Grill - Upland

Visited Saturday, 1 February-Hard to tell what we liked The best about this place...First off, The staff is fantastic, great team work and exceptional service all around. Obviously well trained and service oriented.We were impressed How our server, Melissa and her sister were so proud to give us their suggestions as we looked at the menu.The first time around we had the tacos all of them were great.We noticed great presentation with the drinks that we're Going Out to various tables As we set at the bar.Just a great ambiance throughout- Very easy to tell Why this place was busy.We will be going back for super bowl Sunday and many times thereafter.I am a retired restaurant consultant- And was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of Quality, Service and Cleanliness....Thanks to the entire staff for providing us a fantastic experience.....( oh, great VALUE too ! )

Here with the wife again....Came to this place cause it had 4.5 stars.... Not sure where this comes from ......??The place is nice . Service is ok. Drinks are same as any other bar.Had the surf turf fries . It's a lot and Definitely shareable. It was ok.The wife had chicken sandwich. This was pretty bad. Super dry chicken- overcooked or microwaved... descent serving size, but not very good.Also had the corn .... Served cold .Over all.......Not for me .Call me fancy.... :0 ;)....

Went to lunch on President's Day for a birthday celebration. Interior is spacious and well lit. Serving staff were great and attentive. Food was very good but pretty slow--especially for the small crowd. Got the surf and turf burrito with red sauce. Normally a burro that size is no problem, but it was stuff with full size shrimp and tasty carne asada. Mixed shredded cheese wasn't melted all the way through in places. Other plates were quite hot. Usually this happens with timing problems in the kitchen. They might have been understaffed because of the Monday holiday. I wouldn't let this stop anyone from giving them a shot, though; just build in a little extra time in case the kitchen line is still working out some kinks. Another fine addition to Downtown Upland!

They were busy on a Tuesday night. Went to visit Captains Grill with my mom and my husband. They had a taco tuesday specials but missed their happy hour. It was a full house on Tuesday which means their food is good right? We were hungry so ordered too much food. By the time tacos came out we were ready to tap out. Surf and Turf was really good along with their salsa they provide. I was slightly disappointed on the captains boil as it was little small for the price tag it had. But tacos were big portion wise. They have decent selection of alcoholic beverages and food options as well. Parking can get little busy over here considering being located at downtown upland. We ended up parking behind the building and walked over. They also have daily specials. We will definitely return for their fries and tacos.

Found this gem while walking through Downtown Upland and wow! I love it! I would love to come back for dinner but I came by during lunch and still was great. Our server was sweet and suggested a lot of delicious ideas. Of course, I had to get the Clam chowder!!!! Sooooo good and literally ate everything.Do give this place a try!

Decided to give it a try for taco tuesday with $1.99 taco specials for asada, chicken, al pastor, fish and shrimp tacos. We started with the clam chowder bread bowl and it was pretty good. The bread was full of flavor and the clam chowder was pretty tasty.Prices were great for the quality.We had Gione as our server. He did a great job. The ambiance was probably the best part. It is slightly dimmed lighting with tv's around that allow you to enjoy your meal and catch a game too.Loved it so much I can't wait to return . I definitely want to try the mango cheesecake.

I was in Upland for the day shopping with some friends and we decided to check it out. The service was quick and friendly. The interior was nice and clean. I ordered the fish & chips, which in general, is one of my favorite dishes to eat. The batter on what were more like fish fingers was like a layer of fabric, not crispy, and lacked flavor. I had to ask for tartar sauce. The fries were crispier and good, but not great. One friend from Boston said her clam chowder was great and apparently that is a compliment. My other friend had one of their burritos and also enjoyed it. They both had cocktails and said they were good and strong.A HUGE downer was the water. It tasted horrible. Like chemicals. Ugh. I won't be going back.

Came here for dinner with a friend after she saw someone share it on social media and I'm so glad we did!Taco Tuesday did not disappoint! We both ordered 4 tacos each at $1.99 for appetizers that went perfectly with our michis and I wanted more of both! But we had ordered our mains as well and I didn't want to be too full for that! My friend had the mussels and I had the mahi mahi and oh my both were so tasty! My only regret was not ordering dessert because I basically had to almost roll myself out of there I was so full!Great ambience and the service was amazing. Our server kept checking in on us and was just so pleasant. We had a wonderful dinner and I cannot wait to try more entrees, and uhhh more michis! Cheers!

Honestly, everything was amazing and went well.Service- Jiahn ( G-on) was excellent should train people on customer service. Food - Fresh, nice portions and Taste buds " Delighted"Cocktails ... on point ... Mellissa rocks. Ambiance - positive, pleasant vibe. $$ well worth every bit. Much success to Captains Grill and his crew!

The food was outstanding. Had the clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, shrimp plate and galley sandwich. Ask for their house made salsa. It's a smoky spicy sauce that was delicious. Service was great. The ambiance was fun with an eclectic playlist playing in the background.
