Baker's Drive-Thru

For the 5 years that I have worked and commuted to Riverside/IE I have finally tried the infamous Baker's. I can see the love and hate behind it. Let's start off with the negative: the burger patties are severely under seasoned. I tasted all bun and tomato. Salt, pepper or even some seasoned salt would have altered the rating of this review. Second negative and it's more of an on the fence recommendation surrounding the chili. I would have preferred a more balanced, zesty and seasoned chili. This leads into the positives: the chili is very chili forward. It's not spicy but you can taste the chili powder for sure and I appreciate that. Some garlic and onion could make this a contender in the fast food chili game. The fries: fresh and hot out of the fryer. A lovely level of crispiness and salted generously. Went perfect with a side of ranch. Final positive: the presentation and freshness. Everything ordered was aesthetic, hot, fresh and I give kudos to the staff at Baker's for putting effort and pride into their product. Thank you Baker's.

What happened to bakers? Quality is completely gone. I keep trying because it was so good before but man it's just never going to be the same. I spent 45 min in line for chicken tacos that look like lettuce tacos. Nothing looks like the picture. Burgers were so good and now I ordered a taco because the burger was so bad last time. Used to love the shredded beef and now that's gone. Well I guess Miguel Jr. shredded beef tacos and bean and cheese burritos will have to do going forward. Can't do Bakers anymore. Not for the price!

I never tried a Bakers. I read the reviews, and it cautioned me against trying the establishment. I had a friend insist to give them a shot. Fortunately, I did. The food was great, and the French fries were something I would definitely eat again and again.It wasn't just the food that was outstanding, but the service was impeccable! Laura and George assisted my husband and I. To say they were efficient would be an understatement. Both went above and beyond to ensure my experience was positive. They were truly kind and cared about the customers. The location was tidy clean and very well maintained. (Believe me, I am excruciatingly anal about cleanliness) I will be back and am glad that I gave them a shot.Thank you for your service!

Food is always good I usually order the Caribbean chicken sandwich but I noticed it wasn't on the menu anymore so I opted for the teriyaki and it was good. They always have great customer service when I go.

Not sure what is wrong with this location. During my last visit the burger didn't even taste like bakers. It was super thin and burnt like it was reheated and sitting around for hours NOT FRESH! Sadly things my second bad experience in a row at this location. Done with this location. Hopefully not done with bakers as it was always one of my go to spots for years!

I talked on the phone a few times with a person whose sounds and I imagine starts with "J." She hung up on me when I pointed out that she has told me what she can't do and when I started asking what she can do. Because, as an example, when my drink order got messed up and I had to take a Lyft to get there, as she knew, she couldn't do anything. (I was given a soda when I couldn't drink it because, as I had told her, I was sick. And DoorDash had my order down as it should have been: a Powerade. As I verified. Yet she claimed that what she saw on her end was the soda.)She also said that delivery was possible but then laughed solidly nervously when I pointed out that Baker's is contracted with DoorDash.

WOULD'VE given Bakers a 5 star rating 100 times over, as I've been a life long customer, but they got RID of their shredded beef & then their BARBACOA. Did it not sell enough? Not enough profit? Surely the best solution is not to just stop using it! They tried to introduce carnitas instead but that was a flop. Now it appears the only options are ground beef or chicken, so what gives!? Bring BACK the BARBACOA or at least the shredded beef (Actually, are they are the same thing?). PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!! I want to order a shredded beef burrito and "make it big" (adds lettuce, tomato, and sour cream) or even better the barbacoa quesadilla. It was so good!Still... The Tacos are great. (Tip - ADD extra cheese). The burgers are great. Fries are great. Bean n cheese burritos are great. Just give us back the barbacoa.

I had never visited a Baker's before... i'm not really from around here, and was just in the neighborhood for an event at the nearby MLK Jr. high school. I said out on foot, in search of food for a bunch of kids, and after picking up a box of donuts kitty corner to the intersection, I stumbled over here to see what giant bag of food I could bring back.The menu is sort of an eclectic mix of burgers & fries and fast food Mexican. I ordered a big bag of tacos and burritos, And a few orders of fries... Not nearly as cheap as the Del taco next door, but for whatever reason, the Del taco's dining room was closed, they only had a drive-through, and thanks to lawyers and insurance companies, you can't walk up to a drive-in window anymore in this country.But back to Baker's... The young lady that took my order was cordial enough, standing behind plexiglass. My food came out pretty quickly, and I started the slightly uphill walk back to the high school. Nothing particularly awesome or negative about the food, although a 10 minute walk in unseasonably warm November he did not do the hard shell tacos any favors. This is hardly the restaurants fault, but I'm not exactly sure these were five-star tacos to begin with. For a bunch of adolescents Who do not yet need to worry about the food they're putting into their systems, it was an acceptable lunch, liberally smothered in small packets of hot sauce, and washed down with soft drinks.The french fries were pretty soggy, but again... The ultimate recipients of them were not exactly connoisseurs, and no one complained.Truth be told, I would probably not collectively eat here again, but you never know the next time I will have five hours to kill in Riverside.

Bad service at night. They take forever and aren't even friendly. The food is fine but it's always very slow service

If you want rude service this is your place. My husband is a disabled veteran and we frequent many restaurants in the area as we live only a couple miles from location on Van Buren Riverside. This restaurant that has the most rudest manager. Our visit was on 1/3/25 12:30 pm. We made an order and unfortunately the order included an extra taco. The manager (a woman, I believe name was Laura) was very rude when we returned the not touched or not opened taco. Then, when before leaving, I went to the counter get a refill on my ice tea, she rolled her eyes, did not speak, then filled it, and brought it back and dropped on the counter like she was mad. Never a word. Customers waiting in line were looking like, "what is wrong with her". We will never return to this establishment. We know several restaurant owners in the area which will give offer great service. This was Horrible experience and I do NOT recommend it.
