RUDEST service I've ever experienced. I took my mother in to get lunch, had to use the restroom first. We were confronted by a waitress demanding we order food if we plan on using her restroom and told us we better not expect much because she was too busy to get to us soon. She proceeded to wipe the table with a rag, sweeping food onto my lap then throwing menus at us.Another gentleman sitting across from us got up and left, telling the waitress she was a bitch and he would not order food after being treated so poorly. We also got up and left.

The server was really awesome. She was a super nice lady and provided quick service. Cool little spot, wasn't very busy. Is older, but the food is still really good. Serving sizes were good and tasted great. Come here if you don't want to wait long lines.

This is one of those "hole in the wall" sort of places. It appears to be a repurposed fast food joint, possibly a Taco Bell. Anyway, it's now run by a nice couple. All their food is prepared to order and fresh. As an aside, this means it isn't cheap. Not extravagant, but not cheap. That said we felt it was worth the price and will come back. I had a bowl of their clam chowder. It was really good chowder, obviously house made as evidenced by the various sized chunks of potato, celery and onion. It had plenty of clams too and was perfectly creamy and thick. Not gloppy thick but just right. The wife had the cream cheese stuffed French toast with raspberry sauce. It looked like more of a dessert item to me - three pieces, cut in half on the diagonal, stacked on top of each other, stuffed with the cream cheese and topped with the raspberry sauce and a big dollop of whipped cream. She loved it!!! It is now her favorite breakfast item, surpassing her old favorite; triple berry crepes. Service was ok, it took a while to get the food, but that's how it is in a small joint with freshly prepared food. We'll worth the wait and cost.

We've only been here twice and the first time we recall that it was good food but the seats were all wood. Years later we returned because we saw that they've added cushions to their booths and have ok reviews. It's possible that we should have stuck with the breakfast options if that's their specialty. Instead, we ordered 2 orders of chili with corn bread to start. We waited a little longer to order our main dishes so they didn't show up at the same time. It took a long time to get the one order of chili and cornbread. It was supposed to be 2, one order for each of us. They apologized but offered nothing otherwise. We shared a plate of nachos and the appetizer platter. These were just ok. The bill they left was entirely someone else's and about $10 more. We brought that to their attention. We will probably not be back.

A neighborhood diner without the crazy tourist prices. Will definitely come back again.The menu looked great but I wasn't feeling the interior yelp photos. I'm so glad I came! What looks like an old fast food joint has been updated to match its diner offerings. Food is good, too. :)As a CA transplant, I really miss mexican breakfast menu items such as chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. I was also encouraged by the fact that Mount Vernon was 30% Latinx. Riverside Cafe does not disappoint. The waitress was super friendly also. She was opening the door for an elderly couple when I pulled into the parking lot.

We tried the Riverside Cafe for the first time today. The servers were friendly, and the restaurant, although a little on the run-down side, was clean.Both my dining companion and I had the chorizo omelet, which came with hash browns and toast. The portions were a little on the small side, but the food wasn't bad. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'll be going back.

The Prices are SO high. The food not so good. We ordered a BLT with a salad which was $17.00 and a bowl of Chili which was $9.00. I asked for sour cream for my chili which should have come with it, they gave me about 2 tablespoons and changed me $1.50 for the sour cream. I couldn't believe it. Clear highway robbery. We will never go back or refer anyone to this restaurant. In fact we will tell people not to go eat there so they don't get robbed too. They need to take some money from the high prices they charge Customers and put it into remodeling this restaurant. It looks terrible & shabby. Not a good idea to stop here to eat.
