We are beyond excited to have this Rito's location here in Mesa! We love the food so much we often have made the trip out to Phoenix, but with two young kids it's a challenge to get out there sometimes. This one is so close to us and we feel like our life has changed for the better. They have one of the best beans in the game. This leads to incredible mixed burritos and enchilada style fare. Their crispy tacos, incredible. The shells made in house are a delight. The penchant for including green chilis in dishes? Superb. You can tell this is a loving, scratch kitchen that truly cares about the food. We will be sharing the good news of Rito's to anyone who will listen, and even a few who won't. If you don't like this place, you probably don't even enjoy the things that you say you do enjoy. I don't know what else to tell you.

Rito's has been in business for over 45 years and their original location is downtown on N. 14th St. Living in the East Valley, I was thrilled to find out there is a Mesa location. It's been open about a year. I've been eating Rito's Mexican food for over 25 years and it's consistently delicious. If you have never been, you should start with the green chili burrito enchilada style. It is truly perfection. On my most recent visit to the Mesa location I ordered the red and green chili enchilada style with red and green sauce on top. I was not disappointed. They also make fantastic classic margaritas. The Mesa location is big and the dining area is clean and has a warm Mexican vibe. There's also a bar which is large and inviting. Our service on this particular day was pretty good. I do feel our server could have been more attentive to our table and overall it was solid service.A big plus is that they do take reservations!

I really wanted to like this place. It's one of the highest rated Mexican restaurant in Mesa on Yelp. It's number four on Yelps Top Ten. I've determined that Mesa people have no idea what Mexican food is and certainly not good Mexican food. May have seriously been the worst meal in a restaurant I've ever had. Service was good, folks were nice. It was clean. Decent chips with a very rustic salsa and a fine hot sauce. I had the original Ranch Water drink, which was served in a cool terracotta cup with Tajin on the rim like a margarita. I didn't detect any jalapeño and the agave was very sweet. The fun stops there, I'm sad to say. I had the red and green burrito, chimi and enchilada style. It's a weird gimmick that just takes a burrito and deep fries it and smothers it in enchilada sauce. The issue with the entire setup is that the wrap must be three feet in circumference. Once I was able to pick through the four layers of tortilla to see the filling, it was a single layer of cubed beef that reminded me of pot roast. It was fairly bland with the only flavor coming from the red and green sauce.Other than that, it was a ginormous, wet, soggy, cheese smothered gut-bomb of flavorless glop. The beans and rice were pretty ok, but the quantity of food on the plate was insane. I love getting my money's worth, but I can only imagine how much food gets thrown out on a regular basis. I'd easily pay the same amount for a smaller burrito that actually had adequate filling over the monstrosity that arrived to the table. Lastly, the prices are bonkers. $26.80 for a burrito made with a gigantic tortilla and very little filling, a couple of scoops of refried beans, and the same of fried rice. The cheese, rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce/tomato doubled the price of the burrito. Wild. You'll see in the photo that the burrito is, not kidding, nine inches long.Mark and avoid.

Food was really good. The staff seemed like they just didn't care. I put in a reservation and came at the time. They told me it would be another hour. There were literally 10 open tables. I pointed out that I had a reservation and there was space. They then told me we could sit. I have grace for places that are short-staffed, but when there is a tude and a "why are you here" feel, it's just not for me. I am hoping this was a fluke. We will come back at some point and see if anything has improved.

I've said it before and I stand by it...the best bean and cheese burrito in AZ! BUT...get it enchilada style with green sauce (my preference at least). I should try other items on the menu, but I'm a creature of habit...and this habit has no flaws :)Service is always done with a smile, the place is always clean, and there's a ton of seating both inside and out. I love this place....I love bean and cheese burritos...if I could rent a bench in here I'd sleep overnight and have one for breakfast.

¡Arriba, abajo, al centro, pa' dentro! Rito's history is as beautiful as their cuisine. Learning about the owners and how the restaurant came to be where it is today was one of the highlights of our first experience. Service is friendly and food is delicious...You will walk through a land of savory seduction with a plate of their elote appetizer. Sweet, tender corn with that signature elote coating, cilantro, and onion. They say it's for sharing, but just get your own. If you've never tried elote, this is a sign that you must do so here.A margarita playground beckons from a good portion of the simple menu's real estate, which evoked excitement for all the ways we envisioned consuming tequila paired with their in-house-crafted syrups. Yes, thanks to their fabulous flights, I tried every single flavor. In one visit. Don't judge. My favorites are the pomegranate margarita, prickly pear margarita, and Margarito. Their customizable flights are perfect for the indecisive, or for general libation lovers. The green chile beef burrito, chimichanga style, was my favorite. It fed me for five full days with tender, shredded beef and tangy verde sauce. Even though I portioned it out, it had me overeating like I was never going to see food again. Hubby loved the red and green sauces, homemade chips, and two salsas (which we thought tasted best when combined in a 1:1 ratio). We loved Rito's so much, we went back a second time with a few friends. While the food was still fantastic, service from the bar was painfully slow. We had taken an Uber to the restaurant with the intent of each of us drinking SEVERAL margaritas (we were celebrating). However, even with a mostly empty restaurant, the bar service was SO slow, we were only served one drink after splitting a margarita flight between the four us, which is essentially one ounce per person. At one point, the server informed us the bartender was more interested in arguing with her about flavors and colors of drinks he was making, than he was about mixing and pouring said drinks. Get a new bartender. That's ridiculous. It's a shame, because the restaurant missed out on a decent chunk of revenue with our table, at a massive margin (alcohol), AND we had to take an Uber home while fully sober. Womp womp.If I had to guess, I'd say the inept bartender cost the restaurant at least $500 at just our table that night... multiply that by a few hundred patrons throughout the night, and you have yourself a pretty big issue and a bartender costing you far more than he's making for you. The entire Uber ride home was a comical lamenting about not even feeling a buzz after WANTING to spend money and really "throw some back" that night. Sadly, more money went to the Uber that night than Rito's.The restaurant is cute inside; open, airy, clean and with huge booths that can easily seat six and maybe eight in some cases. We may be back, but we will also set our expectations lower than hoping for a constant supply of margaritas. I hope management sees this and understands the vast opportunity costs with having a subpar bartender.

Update from the manager. He stated that they could make vegetarian options if we asked. My family would loved that! When I asked my waitress that day if they can make anything vegetarian, she simply stated " no sorry". Perhaps on the menu it should state " vegetarian options available upon request" so even if the staff is not trained or doesn't feel like putting in the effort, at least there is a way to be held accountable. Thank you.

Nice, clean place! Staff is super nice unlike other locations. For some reason the burritos always look like they're made from canned ingredients.. Dinty Moore beef comes to mind. Not my fav. Tacos are probably the best bet here. Stick to happy hour as that's the only time I'd really be remotely interested in going. Speaking specifically to the Mesa location.

Amazing green chile and I've had a lot of green chile! I loved my green mixed burro - it was flavorful, the real deal. Marg good, chips thin and crispy. Highly recommend!
