I love having fresh produce in the city! Prices are very reasonable and they always have a good selection of fruits and veggies, Christmas trees in December, and other miscellaneous grocery items as well. Employees are always friendly and helpful and I MUCH prefer buying my produce here over the grocery store. Come support this business, their freshness is the best!

Love this cute little fruit stand! I started buying fruits and veggies from them when they were a tiny operation across the street with heat lamps to keep the cashiers warm when they checked folks out. Now they are a full fledged farmers market-esque business with their own big parking lot! I like to get my oranges for juicing by the box here - reasonable prices and friendly faces make me a repeat customer. I know I can count on them to have good local produce and not feel like I am getting ripped off. Fresh ingredients make the best food so do yourself a favor and stop here for the best ingredients!

I've had to tighten my budget a little recently and I figured that most of my money was going towards the grocery store. I went here a year ago once and it seemed like a good deal but it was out of the way for someone who was stuck taking the bus. Now I have a car here, thank god, and I went here specifically for produce and did the rest of my shopping at QFC. I found it to be kind of a waste of time because while I was in QFC I compared the prices and everything I got was almost exactly the same price in each place. The produce at Rising Sun looks a little more gnarly, but I'm not extremely picky about that. Here is what I bought: 1 lb box of strawberries2 minneola tangelos1 lb Italian prune plums 1 bunch of romaine lettuce3 hass avocados1 zucchini squashA little bag of mushrooms1 head of garlic2 roma tomatoesTotal: $12.49I think that I will continue to come here when I need produce because the people were nice, it's not a chain, and I do think they have pretty good deals from time to time. However, I do think that it's a bit overhyped on yelp in terms of how cheap it is in comparison to regular grocery stores. I also thought it was sweet how they added a little poem at the end of my receipt. "A plum may be dumb and a peach kind of pretty but if they're not sweet oh, what a pity!"

They are awesome because they have great deals on produce and I live close by so it's pretty convenient... but I just can't deal with the bugs. They have a good variety of fruit and vegetables (as well as Jones Soda and some misc items), but I have noticed a fair amount of "softened" fruit and little itty bitty bugs flying around other things that I was interested in (especially the raspberries and blueberries).Maybe I'll try again in the fall/winter?

Some things are a great deal here, whereas other things are more expensive than normal grocery stores. Apples and grapes seemed to have been pretty cheap when I visited. Lemons and limes were 49 cents each (which I found a little expensive since I normally get my limes around 3-4 limes for a dollar). I liked how the store was a garage that opened up. I visited on a sunny day so it was refreshing being able to stay outside

I woke up to the smell of smoke drifting through the neighborhood at 3am, the morning this place went down. Knowing that they had just reopened after closing for a month, it was heart-wrenching watching the firefighters drill through the front door because I knew this would be a catastrophic loss. (The firemen responded within minutes and the fire was only on the porch as far as I could see.)This was a small business with affordable produce and snacks. It was a good grab-and-go store that served the neighborhood for over 30 years. I would swing by 2-3 times a week because it's a much better alternative to pricey Whole Foods down the street. The staff were always kind and helpful. I wish I had seen or heard something that night. I don't even want to believe it. Why even do this? Now the last best thing in Roosevelt is gone. Where do we go now for groceries? How many more businesses do we need to lose in this neighborhood?

Love rising sun! Simple open air market, with mostly produce , although they also carry select other groceries and have other local goods such as honey and craft beer/cider.It's great to support small local businesses, and I love going to rising sun! The staff are always kind as well and make the environment welcoming.

Can't beat the prices! I come here twice a week, even though Whole Foods and Safeway are close by. I go to those stores for anything but produce.
