Tl;dr this place hits. Rione is in a quieter part of cap hill with a cozy, intimate ambiance. There's some street parking, but can be a little difficult. I ended up parking in the nearby Safeway lot My friends and I ordered the burrata to share, the mushroom papardelle, bucatini, and radiatore. And tiramisu for dessert. The burrata was a solid 7/10. Very light, but on the sweeter side since it comes with figs and apricots. It was yummy, but it hit the least. Radiatore was 10/10. That pasta hit. It was perfectly cooked, I love the pasta shape because it holds so much of the bolognese sauce in the ridges, and the sauce itself was delicious. It was also just a touch spicy which added a good extra layer of flavor. Bucatini also 10/10. The pasta also hit. The pasta noodles were nice and chewy, perfectly al dente and the sauce was flavorful. Papardelle, I wasn't a huge fan but only because its main flavor is mushrooms and I'm a bit of a mushroom hater. My friend really enjoyed it though. Extra note, the past portions are large, so I'd recommend sharing, or packing leftovers for another meal. Lastly, we got tiramisu for dessert which hit extra. It comes with a little almond cookie which was so good. The tiramisu itself was super moist and the perfect balance of bitter coffee and sweet cream. The service here was also amazing , 10/10. Our server, Diego, was super attentive and helpful. The restaurant automatically adds a 22% gratuity to the bill, which is a lot, but I think it was well deserved this time. Would definitely come again!

A friend of mine has suggested this place several times. Finally happened to be in the area where it worked out for us to go. They didn't have any reservations available at the time that we showed up so we got a table at the bar. Happy hour from 4 to 6. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the focaccia, the salumi board, Casio Pepe, and the bucatini amatriciana. You cannot beat the fresh pasta by far away one of the best meals I've had in a very long time.

Pasta is amazing! It's one of my favorite fresh pasta places in Seattle. The carbonara hits every time but the clam pasta is my favorite! The servers are friendly and the vibes are cute.

My friend and I came in for their Sunday Feast, which is truly a feast! It's 3 courses, $45 per person and comes with 4 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. The proportions for the appetizers and entrees are HUGE. We definitely couldn't finish it all. It's a good deal if you enjoy the full menu and are ready to eat a ton. While the food was abundant, most dishes were too salty for our taste, particularly the meatballs in the pasta and the caesar salad. Service from the greeter was amazing, but at the table was just okay. Overall, I don't know if I'll be back, but worth a try if the menu is to your taste.

This place serves Roman style pizza, which has thin crust and rectangular shape. The food here is good, although not the *best* Italian spot I've found. We got focaccia as a starter, and this was solid! I really liked the ricotta it came with. For our mains we got the golden potato pizza and luchame pasta. The golden potato pizza was good, but anchovy overpowered it with salt since the rest of the pizza was a bit bland. The luchame was nice too, but it too was a little on the salty side. The service was great though and the staff was very friendly. Not sure if I would go out of my way to come here again, but we did have a nice meal.

We had a second dinner here. The food was markedly better than our first experience. Service was excellent. I sat at the bar while waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. Nice ambience. Our table for 2 was comfortable. The menu, as mentioned in previous review, is a good combination of the pizza and trattoria categories. We will be back.

"Not Coming Back" sums it up. Service was horrible and Food was Average with the exception of a few things that were good, but no great. Details below...We had a party of 12. Quickly the manager sat us and told us the pasta portions were huge and sharable. Nearly empty when we got there: a few 2 tops and one four top - we ordered apps immediately before the rest of our party arrived. We ordered 2 of almost every app on the men + 4 pizzas... we got our apps in about 15 minutes or so, after this is where they lost all stars...Took 40+ minutes to get our pizzas, had to ask twice if they were comingServer took 20 minutes to get the red sauce for one of the appsWater had no ice... had to ask for that. It was 92F outside and HOTTER inside since there was an open kitchen and NO AIR FLOW (no fans at all)The Server NEVER asked us to order, not once... we waived him down to order our pastas, chicken, steak, and fish. We were told there was no fish. Huh, seems like the manager should have told us that when she sat us, or the server when he greeted us to give us water. NOPEEven better... 20 minutes after ordering the pasta he came to tell us one of them wasnt available. OK, so either the manager didnt tell us about 2 items that we could not order, or he didnt check with the kitchen to see if anything else was unavailable.Orecchiette... after ordering and being there 1 hr told is was not availableWhole Branzino... after being there 30 mins told is was not available during orderingWhat about the food we ate... I'm not going to review every item we ate, there are too many. I'll tell you about the things that stood out, good and bad:Pastas were cooked proper but nothing amazing, at all. They were good portions for 1 person but no where near 'sharable' like the manager told us. We'd have needed 3 of each or the 4 dishes to give a single small tasting for all 10 peopleSpaghetti Carbonara *0 starswas not spaghetti, it was Bucatini! ... and had very little to no flavor. note, this is one of my favorite dishes of all time, when done well it can be amazing. I've probably eaten a hundred Carbonara dishes. Bucatini alla Amatriciana *3 starsLots of flavor, good but not greatGnocchi *2 starsSemolina, not the normal potato. Similar flavor and texture to fried blocks of grits. Nothing special, not much flavorPizzas *0 to 3 stars (depending, we had 4 different ones)Most were average at best. Red sauce itself was good but crust was cracker style with nothing appealing about its flavor or texture it. Golden Potato pizza was horrible - I did not finish even the 1 peice I had as it had almost no flavor why still being very saltyHalf Chicken * 0 StarsB-A-D! Dry, no flavor, massively overcooked chicken. Interestingly the controne beans were very good in whatever light sauce they had. They were not fancy but cooked properly and have a nice flavorHanger Steak *4 stars (-1 star for the price, and for being salty)Only dish I'd get here again. Perfectly cooked, great grilled veggies with it. Overpriced, yes, but if you must eat here this is the best thing they had -- by far... but the bar is pretty low here too.Carciofi alla Giudia (fried artichoke, aioli, pangrattato) * 0 StarsI love anything artichoke related, so was really looking forward to this... wow, did they screw up. They fried them so much they are translucent with all the oil they absorbed and are 100% yellow/brown, no green tint or anything related to what a choke looks like. They fry out most of the artichoke flavor, and the texture is like thin dead plant leaves. Someone here needs to learn to use google and find out how to make these properly!

Overall really good, the Bucatini pasta was fantastic, as was the affogato! The margarita was good and a classic, but not anything note worthy. The tiramisu was okay with quite a few bites without lady fingers which is disappointing - I think it's due to the shape of the jar they serve it in. The cookies that came with the tiramisu were 10/10! A nice surprise. An important note is they automatically add a 22% gratuity to your dine-in bill. I'm happy to tip, but feel it should be optional and not forced.

Food was great. My upset was the presentation of the bill. Dine-In Service Charge of 22% was added to the bill. I get it. Service people deserve a living wage and insurance. My issue was that with the payment system we were asked to add an ADDITIONAL TIP! The waiter said tip wasn't included! He clarified that the Dine-In Service charge of 22% didn't go to the service workers. The option to add tip would go to the service workers on top of the Dine-In Service Charge. This is misleading and an unfair trap for customers who are there with friends at the close of a meal and presented with an offensive request for even more "voluntary" tip/Dine-In Service Charge! The range in restaurant tipping is 15-20%, Ethan Stow is charging over that and excessive 22%! This is a really sour note at the end of a meal. It was awkward and uncomfortable.

Over the past several years, we've dined at Rione XIII several times in parties ranging from four to ten. We've had experiences ranging from three stars to five stars. The food is typically very good and the vibe delightfully rustic, although the service can sometimes be uneven (e.g., sloppy water pouring, charging for an item never delivered to the table). Overall, it averages out to a solid four stars.
