Saw so many good things abt this place on social media, and it did not disappoint!!My friends and I came on a Thursday afternoon, and there was no line! We got 3 matcha drinks, and all were SO GOOD. There were a few tables inside, and we were lucky enough to find an open one. The inside is so nicely decorated, and the ambiance was perfect to have a relaxing journaling/ catch-up moment with my friends. Overall, 10/10 cafe spot everyone should tryStaff: super nice!! it was our first times trying this place, and we asked for recs + received a thorough response Drinks: - Matcha Yuzu Fizz: first time trying matcha in a non-latte form + it was so refreshing!! lemonade and fizz are always amazing on a summer day, but the matcha was a great touch. not too bitter or wasn't overpowered by the lemonade (i acc wished i tasted a bit more of the matcha flavor!!)- Kyoto Matcha Latte: solid matcha latte. beautiful green color and can most def taste the matcha. also good sweetness level, where you cannot taste any bitterness. i'd say it's a 6/10 sweetness, so perfect for matcha beginners- Short Matcha Cream-Top: wow. was first skeptical of the small size, but prob the best cream top matchas i've had in sd so far. cream did not overpower the matcha, and the drink was so smooth and perf balancedParking:downtown sd is always a hit or miss w/ parking, and there's some street parking spots in front. it was filled up when we went, so we had to circle around and pay for metered parking abt a block away

It's so nice to have a Japanese inspired coffee shop. This is my 3rd time coming here and I will keep coming back. The atmosphere is beautiful and calming, I love that they extended their space so there's room to sit down and enjoy your coffee with a book/get some work done. The coffee and pastries are amazing! Their matcha is amazing, the pour overs taste wonderful, and the pastries have my heart- just recently had their morning chive bun and it was so delish and fluffy. The customer service is always so welcoming and truly kind. The space and energy is slow and calming.Parking is surprisingly easy- I guess depending on what time of the day you visit but the 3 times I've visited, I never had a problem. Just know that it is paid parking!

Finally got the chance to try Rikka Fika after having them saved and followed for over a year! They used to offer pre-orders and popups mainly before they settled into this more permanent location. First, the decor. The inside is so aesthetically pleasing and beautiful. They have a magazine wall with imported cafe/food magazines from Japan that you can peruse while in the shop. There's a couple standalone tables that were all taken when we arrived, with some bench seating and small stools/benches as well. As far as the menu goes, they offer various coffee and matcha based drinks, as well as different style pastries and buns that rotate. I got the matcha honey cream top as I was recommended to try the matcha from another coffee shop I visited the week prior. My partner got the cold brew with honey cream top. We also shared the black sesame cinnamon roll and tiramisu cream scone. Everything was beautiful and tasted delicious. My only complaint is that the drinks are quite small for the price and are also in plastic cups. Would love to see them have re-usable glasses! I'd definitely come back and try more of their menu, this is one of my favorite spots in San Diego.

My love, I hope this place never closes down because it's still the best place for me to get matcha in SD. I've tried so many other places, but nothing beats Rikka Fikka's matcha. Paru in La Jolla used to sell really good matcha drinks but stopped. As a self proclaimed matcha snob, my favorite matcha is smooth, not grainy, and you can taste the matcha, and not just tons of sugar like at starbucks and other places.I love taking out-of-towners here because this area has a lot to explore. Ever since Rikka Fikka added seating, it's a great third space to enjoy the vibes. Everything is so aesthetic about this cafe, from the abundance of natural light, the wood of furniture, down to the plants that decorate the place!Parking in the area sucks.

I've been wanting to come here for a minute, and so glad I finally made it. This place is super cute and I love the open concept of this coffee shop. It looks like they have really good matcha, but I ended up getting their espresso con panna. It's honestly so good. The cream on top of the espresso shot is super delicious, and I love that they warned me beforehand just in case I didn't expect to get a shot of espresso hahah I also got their earl gray scone and it's good too. It's not too sweet, but doesn't have a scone texture. The texture feels more like a cake but it's still really good nonetheless!! I definitely recommend coming here!

Make this your next coffee shop! The service is as welcoming as is tye ambiance. The strawberry matcha is something special. It's addicting so you've been warned. Everything is fresh and freshly made so don't expect to be in and out. Especially if a line. Enjoy the book shelves as you wait.

What a beautiful and simple place to grab a pick me up with some very good pastries. Upon arrival, we were happily greeted and the person working was ready to answer any questions if we had any. We ordered 3 drinks and several pastries that were ALL beautifully made. 1. Strawberry Latte- the drink itself was not on the sweet side but the strawberries gave it a natural sweet taste which felt refreshing. 2. Strawberry matcha- the matcha was delicious and was especially better with the strawberries. 3. I forgot what the drink was called but it was some kind of summer seasonal passion fruit drink. Although not caffeinated, it was a delicious one. It was sweet & sour and was more like a fizzy drink.Pastries- all pastries that we ordered was delicious. We ordered the black sesame roll, brown sugar croffle (kids LOVED it) and some small chocolate thing that was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Kinda like soft Mochi. All in all, I would definitely return. I also really loved the workers uniform tops. Gave off ESSENTIALS vibes. Also, NO EXTRA CHARGE for milk subs!!!!!

Loved everything about this cafe and micro bakery! The interior is stunning with soaring ceilings, lots of natural light and minimalistic furniture. They offer both coffee and matcha as well as non caffeinated drinks. We tried their drip coffee and cream top matcha. Both were excellent! The coffee was well extracted and the matcha was creamy and rich with the perfect hint of sweetness! We also tried their matcha yuzu scone- perfectly moist and sweet and well balanced! We sat down and browsed through the books and magazines they have on their shelves. They play relaxing cafe music and it was honestly a moment of peace and relaxation. They have metered street parking right in front of their shop.

I came by Rikka Fika for a morning coffee on our way out of SD because it has great reviews and my dog is named Fika. It's a really cute space, very Japandi style, and simple. We tried their Matcha Strawberry ($7) and Mocha ($6.50), both of which were really delicious. They have free substitutes for oat milk, which is a great touch considering the price of the coffee. Dogs are allowed but they don't have wifi, so you can't really hang out there to work. Also there is minimal seating! Overall, would recommend.

Best strawberry matcha in town! No one does it like Rikka Fika fr. The matcha itself is not sweet, but the strawberry compote really adds the *perfect* sweetness to the drink, and balances out the matcha so well. I highly highly recommend. The line can get long but service is quick in my experience after you order! Plenty of street parking too for a downtown location
