Reyes Grill

Referred here by a tow truck driver. He informed me it was the only place you can order steak tacos where they slapped the meat on the grill and cook it right in front of you. I definitely wanted to try this. So just as he stated I ordered steak tacos and a bowl of carne en su Jugo. The father of this family-owned restaurants slapped the steak right on the grill cooked it up, chopped up the meat, and then put it back on the grill. The food was served rather quickly. The steak although cooked on the grill freshly ordered lacked seasoning and flavor. They were just okay. The winner of this day was the carne en su Jugo. It was amazing. I would definitely return for that. The restaurant itself is very small and homey feeling. No bells and whistles here.

Now many who read my reviews know that I try to find places that people don't really know about. This little neighborhood spot is truly a hidden Gem. It's is hidden by its environment. Now when entering I was a little reserved. But the people make you feel like you are at home. I ate one of the BEST grilled chicken sandwiches in the city of Chicago. It was over the top. I came here on the recommendation of a family member. It's a small diner that takes cash only. It's decent food at decent prices. Customers mostly ordered their food to go. Business was brisk and you can tell that people like their food and service. I played it safe and ordered eggs, sausage and French toast. It was served quickly and was not greasy. This place serves Mexican and American food. It's a local place with nice service and home style food at decent prices. I also liked their coffee which wasn't strong but nicely flavored with cinnamon.

Basic breakfast burrito just need seasoning and better hot salsa IMO. I only speak basic facts, no shade. Great customer service and my food was take-out. My teenage son stated the same facts....some seasoning on the eggs and hash browns would have been much better burrito. I've live in San Diego, CA and the breakfast burritos were wwwaaayyy better, but see for yourself. IJS
