We were watching an episode of "Food Ranger" with Trevor James (AWESOME SHOW!! WAAOOOO!!!!) and he was in Oaxaca eating mole. And I was all "Yo we need some mole" and my wife was all "You have to go to southern Mexico for mole" and I was like "But let's just see what's around here" and she said "Okay big bet" and so I looked and I saw this place and we were like "Wow!" We got the mole negro con pollo, y flautas, y por bebidos cafe de olla y chocolate caliente. Everything was just pure bliss. The cafe de olla had a nice soft spicy cinamonney sweetness, the hot chocolate tasted like it had been made from scratch, creamy and chocolatey and legit. The flautas were light and crispy and even the beans tasted authentic- nothing from a can here! The mole was just something genuinely special. I plan to work my way down the menu, so this time I got the black mole with chicken- next time I'll try the red mole. Their homemade tortillas are just pure magic. For a really good, authentic Oaxacan experience you need to come here. And maybe try some grasshoppers, because they've got those too!

This unassuming restaurant delivers and prides itself on its Oaxacan recipes and, from what I can tell, they're doing an excellent job. Coming to Arizona on a work trip from the Midwest, this restaurant offers a break from the many Tex-Mex varieties of food claiming to be authentic elsewhere in the country. The parking is as unassuming as the restaurant itself with not showing much in the front but certainly delivering in the back. Having this said, when I arrived around 5:30pm there was hardly anyone here, which is a shame.I ordered the shrimp cocktail as appetizer and, besides from being huge and delicious, also have never seen a bottle of cocktail sauce - praise the lord! I understand saltines are more or less standard, however they're really unnecessary. The cocktail speaks for itself as it should. I asked the server what he recommended as a main course and was told the Cecina Encebollada is good, although spicy. I went with his recommendation and he politely reminded me again it is spicy. I chuckled as if I was in his shoes I'd probably tell myself the same thing. Yes it was spicy, but pleasantly so and not overwhelming. As for the rest I'll make it short, salsa and chips - tastes homemade and fresh. Service - excellent. Atmosphere - great. Would I come again? Sure. Recommend? Definitely! Authentic? As far as I can tell I'd say so, it did not taste as if it came with a side of shortcut.

This family owned Mexican food restaurant is a must, must, must try and once you do you will be hooked. All of the food we have tried is very good and my wife and I are pretty picky. We have not been disappointed yet. From the Chilaquiles to the rice and beans everything here is great. You would think I own the place by the rave review but trust me I don't, just need to let you know about the great gem of a restaurant. Homemade corn tortillas and the drinks are served in small pitchers. 14 different águas flavors to choose from. The soups are amazing as well as the great service. Please support this family business and enjoy some great food.

Big Oops!! I mistakenly posted my review for this place under Tamales Guadalupe, which is 50 yards down the street!!This place was outstanding. We orgered red chilaquiles with over easy eggs and were delighted with this dish. They have several different moles on the menu. I cannot wait tol our next visit to try mole enchiladas. We also ordered a yellow mole quesadilla which comes with shredded chicken inside. It was ok but nothing special. We ordered bunuelos for dessert. What a treat. This is a rolled out tortilla fried crisp, dusted with cinnamon sugar, so good. Please stop by this place in Tolleson. You be glad you did.

Very awkward when we first walked in almost like walking into someone's home and not knocking . There was only a few people seated waited for only a couple minutes for her to take our order only ordered asada quesadilla cause I just wanted to try it that alone was 15$ . After sitting while waiting for my take out I got more comfortable and enjoyed the quietness with the low playing tv in the corner with an old 60s western playing . Even though at first was bit awkward walking in I got to Love the peace that is given while everyone is spending quality time with their families. No music on was highly appreciated in the end. The food took about 15 min. I was not a fan of the food cheese smelled like feet and the asada was gummy couldn't eat with that strong of a smell

The worst Mexican food I've ever had. The carne asada was like eating a used tire, but a used tire would've tasted better. Then the male server caught an attitude when he was told that the food wasn't very good. The place was run down and very dirty.

They aren't on the menu but I asked for chilaquiles de mole and they were delicious! The beans and rice were yummy but about room temperature. My 6-yr loved her sopa de fideo. My hubby enjoyed his shrimp fajitas with handmade tortillas but mentioned the shrimp could have been a bit better to get five stars. Café de Olla was excellent as well!

Y NUNCA REGRESAREMOS.
