Was recommended by a local to try Central Mexican cuisine. Holy moly, this place is flavour town! I was sitting happy all evening munching away. We had chicken soup, catus salad, tamales, chicken mole and huaxaches. The chicken soup was ok but the rest were so delicious. The chicken mole had deep complex flavours from smoky to sweet that I've never tasted. One of the highlights and will certainly order it again on my next visit. The tamales were also the best I've have had- smooth and creamy. The catus salad is on the slimy side so for this with texture issues, you may want to hold on but I loved it as it was so freshly. The servers were so wonderful in helping us with the menu and ensuring we were ok with their food. The story of their place: the owner came to the US from Central Mexico and worked hard as a dishwasher and leaned the industry before opening his own restaurant. Bravo! Can't wait to return on my next visit. What a gem!

Visitors to Arizona from up North, my half-Mexican daughter was looking for food like Abuela's. We found it at Huauchinango's. This restaurant is perfect if you want actual traditional Mexican food. It has the best Tacos al Pastor! My favourite! If you are looking for Americanized Mexican Food, this is not the restaurant for you. This is the real deal and should be appreciated by connoisseurs of actual, authentic Mexican food.

The best Al Pastor tacos around! The carne asada was also very good, but I'll be back for the Al Pastor! Homemade sauces. the habanero sauce was fantastic, if you can handle the heat. There was a bit of a language barrier at first, but we got past that. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican cafe atmosphere with great food and service, this is it. I'll be back.

Looks like a fire closed this place. Hopefully they will reopen. Came to try it but part of the mall is burned. Looks like the smoke shop next door caught on fire.

This place is in a non-descript plaza but the food is anything but. Authentic southern Mexican food from Puebla. No Tex-mex American version. We shared the molotes de papa con chorizo to start and they were nothing short of amazing. The broth was to die for. Then I got the chicken mole which was fall off the bone tender and a true authentic mole. The tortillas were fresh, homemade corn tortillas - soft, thick, and out of this world. Then there was the Mexican rice. Wow. I normally don't care for the typical Mexican rice you get at most restaurants, but this rice was perfectly cooked (not mushy or sticky) and had a delicious garlicky flavor without being overpowering. The kid's quesadilla was filled with a gooey white cheese and fried perfectly. The food is. It fast food but cooked with real soul so it takes longer than the pre-made, stick it on a plate Mexican food that you get at other places. I highly recommend this place. It's worth the drive to Mesa!

Greeted at the door with a smile. The food was super tasty. Try the cucumber water, it was amazing. The enchiladas were very good. Hubby really enjoyed his meal, had a nice spicy touch to the pork. Really good food, you should try it

Service was amazing! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed with the biggest smile from the owner and one of the waitresses. The food is so flavorful! We ordered some quesadillas of queso and a gordita de asada and a gordita of Al pastor, their horchata is super sweet and and my favorite CAFE DE OLLA! They put canela on it and it is hands down the best cafécito I have had in a while! The place is clean and well kept! I Definitely recommend this restaurant! Great food and great service!

This was the very best Mexican food I've ever had! The star was the poblano mole. The chicken was perfectly tender, the homemade tortillas were fresh and delicious, and the sauce was the stuff of dreams. Service was excellent. I was particularly touched when a young homeless woman walked in asking to use the restroom and for water. She was treated kindly, and a server asked her if she was okay as she fixed her a large water. These are great people and deserve the support of the community!
