Red's Hot Chicken

What a fantastic find! This is the best chicken sandwich I have ever had! A smile while placing my order and a friendly atmosphere to serve quality food. Do not pass up you have the opportunity!

Tried Prince's (supposedly the inventor of Hot Chicken) and this was a little better. Still a bit too salty. Chicken juicy. Potato salad good. Slaw same as Prince's style but better (not as sweet.) Lots of people with airline bags waiting for their meals in the cash only dive bar next door. Took 20 min to get food as it's made to order. Should be a star off for ambiance but in this case the ambiance is unique and not the point.Price is fair, no bargain but cheaper than places in the tourist area. The bar drink prices next door are a bargain!

Had to stop on our way home from Gatlinburg Tennessee.Food was excellent and hot, service was friendly and hospitable.You can sit in air conditioning comfort in the building next door , but we opted to sit in the small entry way on stools.Luckily we were the only ones to order, but within a few minutes the line was Out to the street.

Well all of there 5star reviews are true, so glad we went here today for lunch, guys at the store are nice, attentive and sweet, fried chicken, it's the best I've ever had, took a friend there who was not interested eating fried chicken, after tasting their food, she's not stopping raving about it, chicken, fries and Mac b cheese everything is 10stars, definitely try this place.Fyi: there medium is like hot(and it's coming from someone who likes spicy food and knows little about spices).

So this place is literally a shack next to a McDonals. You wouldn't know what it is until you got up to the window. The chicken is piping hot and the flavor has some heat. This was the best Nashville chicken I've ever had, hands down. There's only 8 different items on the menu, but highlighting the chicken. The line gets long, so be prepared to wait a bit, but it is well worth the wait!

As I've been saying in most of my reviews from my Nashville trip so far, on the whole, I had so many great meals there... but of course, I had to go for some Nashville Hot Chicken, and this place near Vanderbilt's campus came highly recommended. I am happy to say, it was phenomenal!Red's is quite simply a roadside chicken shack. They have a small outdoor covered eating area with counter seating around the edges, everything is served take-out style no matter where you plan to eat it. There is a bar next door that they'll bring your food to, but I didn't explore that, it was a fairly nice day to just eat right out front.I approached the window and my order was promptly taken, no non-sense, no fuss, they're just interested in getting you great chicken made fresh. This IS NOT fast food, and they express that on their sign, but regardless, I waited just 15 minutes for piping hot, made to order, hot chicken. I went with the Hot Chicken Plate with the 3 jumbo tenders, as they were currently out of thighs due to a power outage that spoiled their last supply. That mattered exactly not at all, because the tenders were enormous, juicy, and very filling with a perfect level of spice. I went medium to gauge, and it was just right for me. Flavorful, good heat, not excruciating. The plate came with two sides, I opted for their pimento mac n cheese and cole slaw. The mac was exceptional, really nice sharp cheddar flavor, very creamy. The cole slaw was refreshing and cool, not too mayo heavy, and provided a nice switch to the hot chicken. I also got some great ranch for dipping. It also came with a couple slices of white bread, as is tradition, for mopping up sauce and making little bite size sammies.All told, I could not recommend this place more. I love a place that just cuts to the chase with great food, and Red's is exactly that. I'm sure there is lots of excellent hot chicken available around Nashville, but this should be one of your choices!

The wait was about twenty minutes, but the sign states that before you order, and it was worth the wait! The chicken sandwich was amazing - I got medium and it was not too spicy but super flavorful! I also had to try the pimento Mac n cheese - it was a great side to the meal!

Amazing!! So delicious a MUST GO TO in Nashville the chicken is SO big! And filling! We couldn't finish 3 meals together. We were told 25 min wait for the food.. but it was like 15! Hot chicken good chicken!! Good people

I've driven by Red's Hot Chicken so many times, but it wasn't until recently I even noticed this unassuming restaurant. Located by McDonald's near Centennial Park, Red's Hot Chicken is a family-owned restaurant that quietly serves some of the best hot chicken in the area.While diligently studying the menu, one item stood out to me: the Hot Chicken Mac and Cheese Crunchwrap. I've probably only ever had a Crunchwrap at Taco Bell, and the idea of taking that and adding Hot Chicken and Mac and Cheese seemed too good to be true. After the first bite, I knew that just one Crunchwrap was not enough! The best hot chicken dish I've had in Nashville. I wish the hours ran into the evening, so I could grab this around the clock! I'll be back soon!

Okay the cashier was correctly concerned about me ordering the "hot" level. That was spicier than most other Nashville "hot" levels. I would definitely recommend a medium or less. The sandwich itself had very juicy tenders and great cheese/sauce, however I will say I did not enjoy the spices, it felt raw and like someone sprinkled red pepper on the tenders at the end just to add spice. Also, I will always complain about un toasted buns. But overall, great sauce, very good fries, and juicy tenders with huge servings. I would eat here again, but I would try a medium level with the classic style (with coleslaw). Definitely still the place to go if you are hungry and looking aro the park/museum nearby. Note that it's a small place, but they will let you sit in the bar next door!
