Randy Jones was a pitcher with the San Diego Padres back in the 70's. He was a Cy Young Award winner in 1976 and San Diego Padres Hall of Famer. He currently can be heard on the radio supporting the Padres pre and post game shows. The man was a legend on the field and has carried that notoriety to his catering business that can be found on every level of Petco Park. The menu has changed slightly over the years but flavors have remained constant. Their menu isn't huge as it only has a couple items. On a recent visit I enjoyed the bacon wrapped hotdog. It was simple yet delicious! Grilled onions you ask? ABSOLUTELY! Definitely have visited again and will do so on future visits.Keep on Yelp'n!

If you don't stop by Randy Jones while enjoying a Padres game, turn around! Go to section 116 for the best dogs in the stadium. The big slugger dog is my favorite, but I just tried the brat this weekend and it was top tier! The bun was fluffy and the grilled onions were the cherry on top. Don't miss out!

It's amazing that all of those websites ranking the best ballpark hot dogs never mention Randy Jone's BBQ. Petco Park has some of the best food options of any ballpark but half the time I HAVE to get a Randy Jone's Hot Dog because it's the best deal at Petco.Funny story... one of my best college friends would swear that the Dodger Dog is the best hot dog in MLB ballparks. Well, in my opinion, I think it's highly overrated. I think it's only as popular as it is because Vin Scully always read the Farmer John's commercials.Anyhow, one time my buddy came down for a Padres/Dodgers game and we both got Randy Jone's hot dogs and when he saw them, he said, "Holy $hit!"And after wolfing down his dog, he turned to me and said, "Alright, that's way better than a Dodger Dog."Now, don't know if it's the best hot dog at a MLB ballpark because Fenway has a great hot dog and I'm just guessing the people in Milwaukee know how to make a proper hot dog. I know Chicagoans do.But for Randy Jones' hot dog to not make any of these lists is a farce!

When at the ballpark, nothing beats a good 'ol hot dog! My seating section happened to be near the Randy Jones BBQ so decide to try their bacon wrapped hot dog. This was piping ands scrumptious with onions on top. For the pricing and large size, it was very tasty and filling, definitely worth it. Freshly grilled to order, this definitely hit the spot watching some Padres baseball. Also a bonus was how efficient and friendly the staff here were.

I'm a tourist to Petco. The Mister recalls watching Randy Jones and idolizing him back in the day. We didn't have a clue he had a BBQ biz. So when we saw the stands throughout the ballpark; we had to check it out. We only had the hot dog. They flat grill the all beef dogs getting great grill marks but still keeping them juicy. Yum. The buns are pretty decent. I think the dog is called the Friar dog priced at $6. They also have other types, bratwurst, polish, and Italian sausage. They were all good size, not wimpy. We struck up a conversation with the cashier and the cook. The cashier mentioned that it's not uncommon to see Randy walking about in his cowboy boots taking in a game. Cool. But we didn't see any RJ sightings.

I get one of these delicious hot dogs when I attend the games. The line is not long and the dogs are great. I don't get indigestion problems like I do with most stadium snacks. They are delicious, well done and enough of a meal for me. Thanks Randy!!

Q: What do you do when the Hodad's stand inexplicably runs out of meat in the third inning of a Wednesday afternoon Padres game?A: You turn around and walk a few feet to the Randy Jones BBQ stand. The bacon-wrapped all beef 1/3 pound hot dog is epic! Cooked just right, this giant dog is juicy and delicious. And of course the entire thing is wrapped in bacon! I added the grilled onions (a no-charge up-grade). This awesome dog resides in an excellent bun too. Not just some 99 cent crappy hot dog bun, but a real sturdy, flavorful tailgate brat bun. As I was adding my deli mustard at the condiment station, the bun, despite its sturdiness, split into two at the seam and by dog ended up on the paper lined container. The nice young woman serving up the food happily gave me a fresh bun.At our next Padres game I might just skip Hodad's regardless of whether or not they run out of meat and instead hit up Randy Jones BBQ again.EZ five stars!

" Slugger Dogs & Service Were Awesome ! " My wife and I went to Petco Park today to watch the Padres/Giants baseball game, and decided to try the Super Big Slugger Dog at the Randy Jones BBQ Grill, on the Upper Level 3rd base side of Petco Park. The Randy Jones Grill offers Kielbasa, Bratwurst, Italian Sausage and Super Big Slugger Dogs ! The Big Slugger Dog we had measured in at over 12 inches and was about a silver dollar size round. The Super Slugger Dog comes with delicious large amounts of sweet grilled onions if you want, and a special chef's secret spicy mustard sauce. Or you can put any of the normal catsup, mustard , relish, or hot sauce on your Super Slugger Dog by yourself. Sidney Bryant the Chef cooking and preparing these Dogs and meals at the Randy Jones Grill, was one of the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met. All Sidney was concerned about was making us happy ! And he was so funny and pleasant when he spoke with us. Randy Jones should give this guy a pay raise. The Super Dog that we had was so tasty and super delicious. We will definitely have this Super Slugger Dog again at the Randy Jones BBQ Grill in Petco Park.

I've had Randy Jones at the Park many times, and it is always.....average.Please Mr. Jones, if the product has your name on it, isn't it important to make sure that it is yummy? The stuff served there(I had a beef sandwich) was on par with what I used to eat at the school cafeteria.Very disappointing.
