Well...ramen is ramen. What is it? 38 cents a pack? I mean, I make a great ramen at home. I doctor it and add stuff to it and when I am done, it is nothing like what comes out of the package. But a ramen restaurant? I was a little skeptical. So I ventured to this place on the advice of my daughter. She had mentioned it a number of times and asked me to go there with her. Today was the day. We hopped in an Uber and pulled up, and it looked as if the place was popping! There were outside tables, and they all were full. We went in and found out that there was a 25 minute wait unless we sat at one of the sidebar tables. We didn't feel like waiting so we took the available space. it was cramped, but we made the most of it. The menu was plentiful. There were a number of decent choices. They also had buns... those sandwiches that have interesting fillings. On the table was chili oil, and a special Ramen seasoning. We ordered... I ordered the kimchi fried chicken Ramen... my daughter ordered a vegetarian option. As we waited for the food, I noticed that the music was rocking. Tonight they played a collection of old-school hip-hop. Wu-Tang Clan... Slick Rick... With a decentsound system, it was incredible! The vibe was great. The team was positive. We were excited to get our food. When it arrived, I was ecstatic. I was worried that the kimchi would smell badly but it didn't. The fried chicken nuggets on top of the Ramen were perfectly seasoned. The Ramen broth had layers and layers of flavor. All the ingredients work together perfectly. I added chili oil to jack up the spice level. I was in food heaven. It was a $17 bowl of soup and noodles and it was worth every single penny. I also had a beer, which worked perfectly with my dish. And my daughter fell in love with her dish as well. She had been here before, so she knew what to expect. Honestly... I can't wait to go back ! If you decide to go, try to make reservations. Trust me when I say that you will enjoy it.

My friend and I were super hungry and decided to try Ramen-San around 5 pm on a Saturday. Despite it being the weekend, it wasn't too crowded, and we were able to get a walk-in seat without any wait, which was a pleasant surprise. We both ordered the kimchi and fried chicken ramen, and it exceeded our expectations. The broth was incredibly flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the fried chicken added a delightful crunch and richness to the dish. It was one of the best ramen experiences we've had in a while. My friend also decided to try the pork bun, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype. She found it to be somewhat average and not as impressive as the ramen. The dessert menu looked very tempting, with several options that caught our eye. However, we were too full to try any this time. We'll definitely make sure to save some room for dessert on our next visit.Overall, Ramen-San provided a satisfying and delicious meal, and we look forward to returning soon.

My friend from out of town, who loves ramen, visited recently, and we decided to try Ramen-San. It's a casual spot with fulfilling food, perfect for a relaxed meal. We started with yuzu sake and Asahi beer, which were both refreshing. For appetizers, we had the karaage chicken nuggets and spicy kimchi. The karaage was crispy and flavorful, a great start to our meal. For the main course, we ordered the fried chicken ramen, fried Brussels sprouts, and tan tan san ramen. The kimchi and fried chicken ramen was a delightful blend of flavors, and the tan tan san ramen had the perfect amount of spice. I was particularly surprised by how much I loved the fried Brussels sprouts; I'm not usually a fan, but these were exceptional. The service was quick and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and I definitely recommend Ramen-San for anyone looking for a cozy place with great ramen and a welcoming atmosphere.

This place has fast service and a nice ambiance. I really liked their fried Brussels for the appetizer. In terms of the ramen, I got the tan tan-San which is their only vegetarian ramen, and I thought it was okay. I think this one is a very hit or miss--I personally didn't like the broth at all while my mom did. I think the miso paste is just very very strong for me and the broth just tastes too thick of it in my opinion, but if you love miso you'll enjoy it!

Wanted a quick lunch and not many ppl at 11:40am at this location on a Tuesday. The express lunch was great value with a slightly smaller ramen , small rice with any main dish and I got chicken karrage, salad and pickled cucumbers. The other thing we got was a limited edition play on bacon and eggs in 10-hr tonkashu with a molten egg yolk and marinated egg. It was probably just a small mistake but the check forgot to put on both eggs... which is the best part but it was remedied quickly. Staff was attentive.

I stumbled upon this restaurant and fell in love with the cool and moody atmosphere immediately. We got a couple of the drinks with yuzu and they were amazing! The gyoza was so good, I will be thinking about that appetizer for a while. Great ramen and the Karagee chicken nuggets were quite tasty, and while being a bit plain, they are a great choice for more picky eaters. Amazing donuts to finish the meal!! Also, great service from our server Tetiana who knew the menu very well and helped us pick our drinks.

Found this place out one night barhopping. There were a lot of people there so I thought I should check it out. This is a cute little place with plenty of tables outside and inside. So I would say don't worry about making reservation. People are in and out pretty quickly here. I ordered the sumo Ramen, which kinda came with everything. The bowl did not look intimidating at all. I thought I could finish this all by myself, but I was totally wrong. The portion is huge, definitely enough for two people. The broth was well seasoned. My favorite were the noodles. I definitely like my Ramen noodles al dente. They had a crunch to them which I loved. I also love the dumplings that came with the ramen. It was a really nice addition to the bowl. Overall, the entire bowl of Ramen definitely hit the spot. No

It saddens me to write this less than stellar review as I love supporting Asian places especially ones with ramen and dumplings.Unfortunately, the dumplings were kinda clumpy and tasted more of a reheat than freshly served. That was the case with the ramen noodles as it came up really clumped up and it was hard to eat even after doing my best to mix it up?! What gives? Now, the fried chicken should be rethought out as they were dry and should not be on the menu at all.Their saving grace is that the servers were attentive and nice.Service: 3.75Food: 2.25Overall: 3Would not come back myself but others may not be as finicky about Asian noodles like me.

Ambiance is clutch. Plays into that whole Japan hip/hop anime boondocks feel. The 10 year soup was plain. And warm. Never been so sad and disappointed. The pork itself is bomb but thw soup might need a new recipe.. as well as turning up the heat on the brothZ....makes me think they left my order sitting and it got cold.

Ramen San was a delightful place to dine in Chicago. We were sat down immediately in the spacious restaurant. The staff was helpful at explaining there menu items and gave us a warm welcome. The food was really good, I enjoyed the 10 hour Tonkutso very much. I ordered a lunch special at about $17 that came with a half bowl of ramen, white rice with a few pieces of steak, cucumber and vegetables, and a side salad. It was a great deal and almost like a ramen bento box!
