My friends and I visited Chicago and got multiple recommendations for this place in chinatown. Even Google had this as a top option so we had to try! We went on a Sunday around noon and we're told that there may be a long line or a wait. We were a table for four and added ourselves to the waitlist and we're told it would be about a 20 minute wait which was just fine with us. I liked the option to choose whether or not you were flexible with sharing a table with others as well. We left to walk around but within 5 or 7 minutes got the text that our table was ready, so we were happily surprised. The interior was nicer than I expected. I was expecting a hole in the wall place but the furniture is clean and modern and sleek. Even the decor had a little bit of a nice touch. The menu is extensive and offers a good variety of options. We went just for an early snack in the day and shared the pig ears, the cucumber salad, an order of pan fried wagyu beef and cilantro dumplings, and an order of pan fried pork and leek dumplings.Servers are attentive and moving around the whole time, and they're definitely wasn't too much of a wait to get our food either. Everything tasted good and very authentic. You know it's authentic when there are older Asians eating in here lol.It is a little bit crowded in there but this is what was expected for such a popular place. Pricing was reasonable as well.

I am mostly mad at myself for opting to give this extremely overpriced place a try..the dumplings were not that good and even fried, they were exceedingly wet...Im a small person (weighting under 114) so it does not take a lot to fill me up but HERE, you pay over $40 bucks and still walk away hungry.....you get 12 dumplings per order which if you are in a group you gotta eat more than that means ordering at least 3 orders each at a minimum price of 18 bucks this does not even include drinks...We ordered the so called chicken wings which were TINY and had barely any meat to them...they were about 8 of them at $18.99...the frozen ALDI ckn wings were better and more reasonably priced.....ABSURD PRICES for what you get....but like I said, I have myself to blame for being a sheep..and following the flock...In total, the meal with only ONE drink came out to $88 and I was still hungry!! the restaurant is making massive profits at people like me whose "lets check it out" attitude has them willing to pay close to 100 bucks for 3 orders of dumplings...

Qing Xiang Yuan may be your top go-to place to get dumplings while in chinatown, but don't get too excited. Depending on high-tide times, you're looking at an hour wait time.My advice is if you're coming to chinatown for dinner, you better make this your first stop and sign up on their kiosk inside and then go explore more of Chinatown. If you have more than an hour of wait time, consider hitting up another restaurant you'd like to try and ask for the bill as soon as the food comes out. Otherwise, there are other places you could pop in and out of (e.g., souvenir shops, bakeries, boba).Service is quick, and dumplings come in orders of 12 pieces. Pan-fried dumplings maintain their juiciness and give a bit of a harder texture, but they don't "pan out" for the extra dollar. Giving them a light toast just doesn't do it for me--I really need that flaky dumpling skirt. So I would recommend steamed dumplings. The presentation is just awesome and beautiful. And don't be fooled by their shape, because they're very much like Xiao long baos (soup dumplings), just meatier.Eat them with caution, maybe even bring your own soup spoon and tear a hole in the top and pour your seasoning in to help cool it down.My server states that his favorites were the lamb and corriander--I can see why. Pork and cabbage are a staple. Again, I can see why. Soy sauce and vinegar are provided at the table. It's a bit pricey, but I can definitely see myself coming back next time I'm in town ($1.50 per dumpling before tax and tip). On a hungry night, I could easily spend $18 for my own plate. The porcelain plates are super cool, and I loved seeing the videos on how they were made.Cheers!

Hey folks: This place has incredible dumplings. No need to go anywhere else - these dumplings are made to perfection. Wagyu and truffle dumpling: Very rich but are wonderful to eat. As soon as you cut it open, the rendered juice runs out...and what a flavor bomb these dumplings are. The shrimp dumplings....same thing happens when they're cut it open....all this great flavored rendered juice! Dumplings come out quick...and staff were all quite friendly and helpful. General looks and feel of the place, is the perfect setting to enjoy their dumpling creations. A real go-to spot in Chicago's China Town!!

Second time visiting and I came with a dear friend. The wait was minimal. Maybe 11-15 minutes. We were sat and the server was available and attentive. We didn't feel rushed and pressured to ordered. When we had questions, our server knew the answer. The lamb and coriander dumplings were amazing. Like just amazing. There's zero need for a sauce. It was incredibly juicy on the inside and the flavor did not miss! We also a serving of the braised beef in brown sauce appetizers. You'd think for a cold dish, it would be chewy or tough. Nope! Melted in your mouth and there was a tiny tiny bit of spice. The serving was pretty nice for the price paid. I'd recommend ordering if you're one to eat red meat.

Are you searching for the top dumplings in Chinatown in Chicago?? I have a great recommendation for you! Qing Xiang Yuan Dumplings is one of the more popular places to enjoy freshly made dumplings in the Chicago area. This restaurant makes the dumplings fresh in their exposed & open kitchen...super cool!! We tried both the steamed and pan-fried dumplings. This spot offers a variety of fillings, flavors, & methods of cooking the dumplings. We also started with the lamb skewers as an appetizer, which we all enjoyed trying! Because of how popular this spot is, you should expect a short wait. The staff is friendly and rotate the tables in an efficient manner in order to quickly, yet politly, seat everyone.
