Public House 131

Decent 4/5 experienceFood was cooked hot and freshI ordered the Salmon while my mom ordered the lobster roll. She loved the lobster roll. Sometimes places make lobster rolls with more bread than meat but this was the perfect balance of lobster lettuce and bread.My salmon was alright. I think my expectations were too high.But I enjoyed the veggies and how hot & fresh the salmon was cooked. Mom loved her lemon drop I didn't enjoy my P.O.G punch it wasn't as sweet as other punches it tasted like captain Morgan's with a splash of lemon or pineapple juice The bartender was also our server and she was very attentive and kind. I enjoyed the relaxed vibe of this place.There's even a cute little tic tac toe area with comfy seats. Outdoor seating is available and as we left we noticed there were shades coming down to keep the area nice and shades which is amazing!If we knew they had shades we probably would've eaten outside because it was nice and quiet outside as opposed to inside. We will most likely return as it's a convenient and cool little spot with a variety of items on the menu. There's also so many cocktails at this place. I'm looking forward to trying other items next time for a better experience for sure.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon, not too busy and was able to be seated immediately. Started off with an order of fries and a pretzel. Fries were fresh and d crispy with the right amount of seasoning. Pretzel was warm, buttery and soft. Ordered the Wagyu beef burger with sweet potato fries (extra cost). Beef had great flavor and moist. Sweet potato fries were warm and crispy like the regular fries. Lot of TVs around the bar to watch sports. Good spot to eat, drink, and watch sports on the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego.

English Toffee Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream is I ordered fish and chips. Their fried fish was ok but their fries were perfectly seasoned and with right amount of crunchiness. I also really liked sweet potato fries. The place was busy but our waiter was attentive. He recommended the dessert and it was worth the calories. They also have a long list of beer on tap and offer happy hour. Don't forget to check in for a treat!

Stopped in for a bite, wine, and to study. I forgot I've been here before and liked it! The previous time had cocktails and appetizers but I cannot remember what all we had. The drinks were great and I do remember having a churro dish for dessert that was decent. This time around I had the French toast which was fantastic. I was worried it would be too sweet with the caramel but it was not. It's a "wet" French toast and was on the verge of soggy to me which I normally don't like but it was so delicious I devoured it without breathing. The house wine was somehow better than the first one I chose. It's a decent size place and there's good sound blockage inside because there are almost like little pockets of seating around the establishment. This is a great place if you want to keep things casual but still like a bit of a fancy drink and want good food. It's low key energy but the quality is like going out to one of the more poppin neighborhoods. (South parik/North Park/University etc). I'll definitely be back!

Went here during brunch and didn't know they had a different brunch menu. I was looking forward to order the Reuben but it wasn't on the brunch menu but the server was kind enough to accommodate my cravings haha. The fish and chips was nice and crispy love love their fries. The Reuben was good but I found the meat just a little too salty especially with everything else in it. The salad with it was wonderful with the candied walnuts. It's dog friendly they have outside seating as well. Overall would come back to try other things on the menu.

We haven't come back here for maybe almost a year and recently we found they updated their menu! I had fish & chips and my husband had a Serrano burger, both are very delicious! The fish is crunch outside and fresh & soft inside. Serrano burger has a good kick. We always enjoyed the vibe and service here. Nice place to hangout!

Loved it here! Met up with a couple of friends. We stayed indoors but they have outdoor seating too!Plenty of beer options...see picture. I tasted two different IPAs and they were amazing. Service was fast and efficient for beer and ordering food. I also ordered a double burger (recommended from the server) and it was phenomenal. The burger was cooked perfectly medium and the flavor was delish! The fries were crunchy and amazing as well. I'd definitely come back here!

Came for a late lunch with friends at 2pm on a Tuesday. There were 4 of us in our party and we were seated immediately upon walking in. The booths were all taken up, but there was a nice table available in the side corner by the window that the host suggested.We were seated and the server asked us about drinks. 3 of us wanted water and 1 of us ordered a juice. Drinks came out right away and we were also able to order the Birria fries appetizer. That Birria Fries appetizer IS DELICIOUS! I recommend it fully.Food entrees ordered: Beef Sliders x 2, Wedge Salad with Shrimp added, and Mashed Potato Flatbread Pizza. Everything was very tasty according to everyone in our party. The customer service here is awesome. We appreciate the staff, ambience, and wonderful food. We will continue to visit because they are still outstanding.

Public House 131 deserves a proper Good, Bad, Ugly (GBU) review.Upon entering the restaurant there is signage that reads, "Please wait to be seated". Although the wait was but a few moments, their was no real acknowledgement or greeting from the nearest staff member (Bar?). Good:Once the hostess arrived, we were welcomed with a friendly smile, asked if we would like some waters and promptly seated in a nice large booth within view of three large TV screens. Our server, a very genial young man, gave us some nice recommendations for appetizers and main entrees. Our server never made us feel rushed but instead struck a good balance of time in-between table visits. OMG! The cold drinks were refilled before empty and had a large amount of ice, woohoo! The ice tea was cold and strong. The beer and water were ice cold. We ordered buffalo and BBQ boneless wings, I think the price-to-value for the portion size was decent. My only issue with the buffalo wings were that they were too salty for me. Let me clarify, I have HBP so I have been steadily reducing the amount of salt I personally use so even my sister's cooking taste salty to me most times. Other than that, the buffalo and BBQ boneless wings still had a nice flavor and textural crunch even after being sauced.Our main entrees consisted of the Loco Moco and the 131 Pub Burger with added bacon. Both items were cooked to order and delicious. The plated Loco Moco looked exactly like the menu picture, for real! Aside from the traditional brown gravy that comes with this contemporary Hawaii cuisine, Public House 131 Loco Moco also had a white gravy on top. LJ, that dish was good! Public House 131 Loco Moco was aesthetically pleasing to look at, the taste and texture of each element was perfectly balanced. Sometimes other restaurants can go overboard putting the food under too much goop. Public House 131 Loco Moco was worth the price.The 131 Pub Burger with added bacon was straight forward and simple. No surprises here. The meat is cooked to order, we ordered medium, we received a medium cooked patty, not over, not under. Added bonus, the fries come hot. Kudos to the kitchen!Bad:Nothing to report.Ugly:To full from our food to order dessert. Have to wait for second visit.TTFN,I'll probably review some of these items next time; the Pub Pretzel, Pastrami Reuben, Scottish Salmon, Grilled Hanger Steak, English Toffee Bread Pudding and the restrooms.

Everything was delicious! The hostess was great and Marissa, our server deserves 6 stars. The colossal Bloody Mary was the star of the meal. Will definitely be back, thank you to everyone there.
