This lowkey spot is an immersive speakeasy with delicious cocktails and relaxing jazz.Walking down Gaslamp and opening a door to a lawyer's office just to see a dark candle-lit underground bar is just as immersive as it can get. The space itself is tight and intimate which adds to the experience. In the back is a band playing jazz with a line of couches surrounding them just enjoying the experience and the music. When you approach the bar they have a record-shaped menu with various cocktails of different flavors. There are plenty of options making it difficult to choose. The bartender was very helpful and guided us through the list and made us a beautiful and delicious drink.Prohibition is a great speakeasy located in Gaslamp that I would recommend to anyone who is dropping by. It's a great way to end the night but expect to pay cover.

Went there on a Friday night. It was tucked away on the street, so you could easily walk past it, which was on par with the speakeasy vibe. You have to go down some stairs, and then it's all red lighting, which gives it a taboo vibe that I kinda liked. I went with a friend for her birthday and since it's a Prohibition themed place, and online, it even encourages people to dress in the 1920s style, so we did--flapper gowns, faux fur shawl, pearl necklaces and bracelets, feather headbands. But we were the only ones I saw that did that. And the live music was good, actually it was great, but it wasn't 1920s/Prohibition style at all. It was Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder type music. And I sang along and enjoyed myself, don't get me wrong, but what is the point of having a themed bar if you're not going to adhere to the theme? The most disheartening part was when a woman asked us what the occasion was and why we were dressed up. It didn't even occur to her that we were dressed up like that because the place is literally called the Prohibition Lounge! Overall, I had a good time. The other customers were nice, the bartenders were nice, and so were live band. But it just didn't live up to the name. It gave off more of an underground living room/garage vibe.

Awesome speakeasy bar in the middle of downtown San Diego.Pros - phenomenal drinks! They are refreshed every month and each are well prepared with a complexity or flavor. The main entrance is an unassuming law office door which one would not even notice in the daytime. This adds to the uniqueness of the establishment. However, At night, the long line usually gives it away and it loses the "speakeasy" factor.Cons - long line and does require a $10 cash entry fee. Not much sitting spaceA must experience place if you are out for a fun night in SD.

Omg when in Gaslamp you have to check this place out ! So we were walking around Gaslamp and this location was on my list . There will be no sign whatsoever, but there will be a door and someone standing near it getting your ID before entering. There was no cover charge when I went . After that u go into a basement feel speakeasy very intimate. There is a bar on your right side as well as the restrooms. This place could get pretty packed. You gotta keep an eye out for a seat. I like this place so much that I came twice on my visit to San Diego. What I really enjoyed was the live music. They have some talented artist the both nights I went the live music was amazing. !! They did not serve food just drinks . The menu for the drinks is pretty cool it's on a vinyl record . We had such amazing time the both nights we were here. I highly recommend coming checking this place out . I would definitely be back.

I used to LOVE this place. Still do but I miss the escalated ambiance. My husband and I used to get really dressed up to go here years ago but now it's more of a quick visit type bar. Love the bartenders, we always see the same guy and he makes the best Bee's knees. 20's style speakeasies are my favorite.

This place is great, however, it is extremely tiny and narrow. If you get there early enough like we did 830 we watched the band set up and we're able to sit in front to enjoy with our cocktail .. this place gets very busy. Very packed very quick. It's fun for a speakeasy . it's located down one flight of stairs in what seems like a basement.

We were told about this place from the waitress at the Havana 1920 restaurant. She stated that they have live music and dancing at this location starting at 7pm. It is located next door to Havana 1920 underground. It is a speakeasy, the entry fee is $10. There is no food available, drinks only, and the cost is about $18 each. The drink menu is on a record album, and the ingredients are fun and activate those taste buds. The music was offered by local artists who come to play their works. The acoustics had a good sound and we all sat and watched the artist sing. It is not for dancing per say but for listening.

Pretty cool speakeasy live jazz music. Entrance looks like you are going to see a lawyer. The vinyl records show a drink menu. Super cool. The cocktails are about 18 dollars a piece. They were not bad but not the best either. Really nice spot to go for the music.

Wasn't allowed entry because I had shorts on. No one said anything about a dress code not to mention it's the middle of the summer. Then wanted to charge my friend and I a cover fee of $25 each. Wtf is that?
