Professor Pizza

This place is absolutely absurd. My expectations weren't very high, solely based on the name and my time spent living in both New York and Detroit for 10+ years each. I couldn't have been more wrong. The pizza is incredible. It's as close as you'll get to NY or Detroit style in this city, and I have spent time searching high and low. The specialty pizzas are great I had the White, Gabagool, and Vodka, they all went absolutely crazy. The service was nice and very attentive. It seems that all the staff takes it upon themselves to make sure you have everything you need, which is kind. Will absolutely be going back with regularity.

Pizza was delicious -- I made my own grandma pizza (sausage, pineapple, basil, ricotta) but the garlic knots were HORRIBLE. They had the kind of texture you get when you microwave old rolls -- super stale and hard. There's no way these were made today. Definitely not worth $14 for FOUR. Don't waste your money on that, just stick with the pizza. Ordered delivery through door dash and it arrived pretty quickly.

Service was fantastic. Servers were attentive and friendly.Food was phenomenal. The Deluxe Pepperoni in Detroit Style was perfection.

5 styles to choose from - include thick and thin. Pricing is crazy, its listed but doesn't include all the types you can get. We paid $28 for 6 squares of plain cheese pizza. Outrageous. It was even good. I'd pick Lou Malnatis any time.We came in around 9 and they sat us and then started closing up around us. It wasn't very pleasant spending time with my friend while we ate. It felt like eat and get out.

LOVED this place! Definitely an underrated rooftop! Great vibes and a fun place to come with a group! We got one thin crust pizza and one grandma style and really enjoyed both of them! Can't wait to come back!

I've been meaning to try Professor Pizza for years and finally got around to it now that they have the brick-and-mortar spot. We walked in on a weekday evening and were seated immediately in a booth. The space is really well designed and has an upscale casual feel. Our server was great and our food was awesome! We ordered a wedge salad (tasty) and NY-style pie (delicious!) I'm always on the lookout for great NY-style pizza in Chicago and Professor Pizza definitely makes the cut. Thin, foldable, well-proportioned toppings, excellent color on the undercarriage, and a classic yet unique flavor. Will definitely be back!

Went here for dinner last night with some friends to get on their rooftop. Good spot to come for groups. The service was a little slow and they seemed a bit understaffed but we weren't in a rush so it didn't really bother anyone too much. We tried 3 of the pizza styles: NY, cracker, and grandma. My personal favorite was the cracker, but everyone else in the group liked the grandma style the most, which is essentially Detroit style pizza. Definitely will be coming again

Very inconsistent. Ordered once it was good. Next time it was inedible. Greasy and floppy and disgusting. See picture. Threw it out. Emailed them and no reply. Told lots of people about professor the first time when it was good. After last experience told more people to avoid it. Will stick to Robert's and zaza.

Awesome pizza worth every penny! We tried two different styles and they were both delicious. The staff are super friendly, and the restaurant has a fun feel to it. Highly recommend you try it!!

I have good news and bad news. The good news is I've ordered two pizzas from Professor Pizza and both were yummy. The bad news is that they both departed sharply from what I had ordered. And bonus bad news: delivery issues on both. Pizza 1: I ordered cracker crust pizza with pesto sauce, chopped bacon, garlic, sausage and pepperoni. Shortly after, the restaurant phoned and said chopped bacon was listed on GH by mistake, and since they couldn't refund one extra ingredient, they asked to cancel the order and place a new one without that ingredient. Fine, ok. I do so. After waiting 15 minutes past my delivery window (they're on the same block as me) I phoned the restaurant. They were waiting for me to pick it up and said GH had it listed that way, but not according to GH. Finally, my pizza was delivered. But no pesto sauce, as clearly listed in the order; I had red sauce instead. A major disappointment. I phoned the restaurant and they apologized and refunded my order. Two weeks later, I order exactly the same pizza. This time, without my consent, they replaced the garlic with jalapeños (even listing on the ticket "SUB JALEPENOS FOR GARLIC") and added both black and green olives that I didn't order. I never would have ordered it that way, and would have preferred that what I ordered was what was delivered. But I didn't complain. However, the GH driver did. I started getting an increasingly desperate sounding texts from him about how someone else had picked up my order and I had to cancel it, which was not an option. I did go into the GH app and marked it delivered. A while later GH calls to ask me to confirm that. I suspect the restaurant delivered the pizza to get it to me early, without telling GH. What a pain. They still have chopped bacon listed on GH but I dare not order it. Food 5-star; order fulfillment 2-star. I'll give it 4.
