We stopped by to "stick our toes in the water" do to speak here on a Saturday night in January. Pretty slow but it picked up with early family dinner patrons later. It was our way of checking out their food and drink. My wife loved a heavy $6 house red pour! I just wanted a particular beer. They had a decent beer list but I only drink one when it's a variety I love. We had the burgundy snails and the steak and veg brochette. The snails were in a burgundy, garlic, butter sauce in a mini cast skillet. Not like the specialty crock servers we get at French restaurants back east and Paris. They were likely tinned but good quality. Not as firm as I would like but we enjoyed them! We look forward to trying the crispy pork belly!! But this was just a warm up snack for a dinner elsewhere. The steak skewer was good but not worth raving about. This was just our pre function before dinner across the street to try PB and we were glad we did. They were very friendly, gave us a little view two top table and we look forward to trying their main menu next time. I think that some things could use a little improvement but it's better than we expected. It gets crazy busy here in summer which is why we've never stopped recently. Do take advantage of their slow times and happy hour!

Casual French bistro located above a market. Our party of 7 was seated right away by a lovely hostess. There was a large patio, but it was definitely too cold to sit outside. We had a view of the water from our booth. The portions were huge. If you're ordering a soup appetizer and a sandwich, you can share and still be stuffed. Lunch prices were reasonable. Next time I will try the Penn Cove mussels and a cocktail for dinner.Close to 4, but not quite there

An update: 12 years later, I now have to eat gluten free and dairy free. I was so glad I was able to put together a wonderful meal! My husband and I shared the Calamar Frit as an appetizer, then I had the mussels with French fries. For dessert, I had a chocolate coconut sorbet that was actually creamy! My husband doesn't have food sensitivities, so he had their Steak Frites, and for dessert an Italian dessert with caramel drizzled on top. Everything was very good, but a definite splurge at ~$80 each for the meal.

We stopped by late on a Saturday evening with a group of 5. Thankfully, we got super lucky and they were able to get us seated right away. The service was a tiny bit slow because they seemed rather busy, but all of the food and cocktails were super tasty. We had the special which was pasta with mint tomato sauce and shrimp. This was an unexpectedly great combo of flavors. We also had the mussels in white wine sauce, calamari, crème brûlée, and chocolate torte which were all amazing. The spring reverie was super refreshing and great for anyone who likes citrusy/sour cocktails

We visit Whidbey Island often and always look forward to Prima Bistro. Our go-to's are the crispy pork belly, steak frites, sweet breads, gugourines and the house salad. I don't know what they dress the salad with but it's one of my favorites. The most recent visit we ordered roast chicken, salad lyonnaise and pork belly.

A welcome, cozy place on a drizzly Monday evening when other restaurants are closed. Tip: Make a reservation if you want to be seated during their busy time between 5:30 and 7. As walk-ins we waited almost 45 minutes for a table, only to see the restaurant nearly empty by 7:30. Maybe you don't consider that especially late, but they had run out of several menu items by then. No ragout, no mousse. The lentils are flavorful and perfectly done. You must try the chickpea fries, with their hint of turmeric and excellent mustard-flavored sauce.Don't be intimidated by the "small" plates: we found the duck confit a perfectly-sized portion. The servers are friendly and professional, and the food is fine.

Wonderful meal tonight for my wife's birthday. Everyone seems so happy and "up" at Prima Bistro. Food was really good, and our waitress Mackenzie was just fantastic. So good to see Prima Bistro thriving!

This is an Island. Great Restaurants aren't ubiquitous. We learn to tolerate it. But.....Wow Prima Bistro. My wife and her girlfriend went a few times because of their French touch menu. She's been raving about their Trout. We went for lunch Saturday and I was pleased it was full of dinners of all kinds. We were promptly sat and given menus. I perused their extensive choices but landed on the trout. Omg! I've never had trout cooked so well and so tasty. With a touch of lemon and dose of capers the trout is pan fried and finished in the oven, (my guess) in what I assume is first class olive oil. The flavor was incredible and the fish melted in your mouth. The fries served with Duck Fat mayonnaise as an add on is sublime. I wish I would have gotten our servers name. She was excellent from beginning to end including chasing me down the street to return the wallet I left on the table. Whidbey Island has at least one great restaurant.

I recently came into your restaurant, and the food was wonderful, but even better was the service. A lovely young lady by the name of Kenzie was our server. I was with a group of elderly family members who were quite difficult and demanding. Kenzie handled it with grace and remained professional and friendly even when they were being difficult. She literally killed them with kindness and provided excellent service. We will definitely be back!
