If you're looking for authentic pozole, this is a great spot. But if you're looking for a fancy restaurant, this isn't your spot. I arrived on a Friday for lunch and although I was the only one there, other people came and ordered to go after me.The owner Francisco was nice and accommodating when I asked for green pozole half to eat in house and the other half to go. I ordered the green pork pozole and it came with all the toppings and two potato taquitos. The flavors were spot on! UPDATE...Not as I remember.Last time I had reviewed was years ago when this place first opened and was an operable restaurant. I came back few months ago and do not recognize the place. Years have passed, pandemic has passed and was surprised and happy they survived ONLY to walk in and question "is this the same place from years ago"? It looked away more dirty and run down.. no longer looks like a restaurant and more like a kitchen storage. No restaurant tables to sit at except for outside where it's not very inviting (outside patio and neighborhood not inviting to sit outside). Still, very tasty pozole... but i think due to sanitary factors I won't be coming back. Cash only. After getting I paid with cash and saw people behind me who ordered and sat outside. After the owner took my money he begun to prepare their food... without gloves, without washing hands, and immediately after touching money was handling food. As I was leaving, right outside the main door that's wide open I saw a dead roach outside but it looked kind of swept out from inside. GAG. Everything about this place was not the time I remember on my first visit and my first review. It turned into a dingy dirty hole in the wall that you would drive right past. I will remember the delicious flavors but gladly walking away to find a new spot for my pozole craves or make my own at home.

Walked in and saw tables on the back were upside down, chairs on top of other tables, and no music. It felt as if the place was closed for the day. The owner came out of the back and literally said "Hola, we serve Pozolas and menudo, no burritos and no tacos". Well, ok. I was never given a menu or anything to even see the prices at least. I ordered the menudo and a bottle of water and he said he has to buy it from the mini market next door. I went ahead and asked what drinks he had available and there was only Coke and a canned iced tea. Got the coke served in a can without a cup or ice. I guess there was no ice either. The food was good. The menudo had a good amount of meat and was well seasoned. Found two bones inside the soup, but it could happen to anyone. As soon as my food was served, the owner left the restaurant and left me by myself. I saw him walk to the mini market down the street. Then came back and mentioned that after covid, all of the customers and employees stopped showing up. The place has no bottles of water, no ice, no music, no menus, and a bad appearance. This has nothing to do with covid, but the fact that the restaurant its just not ready for customers.The restaurant has its own parking lot next to it.

As much as I wanted to enjoy my food, I will chalk up this experience to less than average. I was happy to see that they had their own small parking lot which is crucial in this part of town. Based on reviews, I was hoping to have something more authentic but if you asked me, it seems the owner has lost the passion to be a chef. Also, they didn't seem too inviting to eating in, though I would have been the only one inside or outside. But when I said the order was for here, he looked around like naahhh take it to go. So I changed it to go. It sounded like he was arguing with his daughter that day because of a car accident. Some good chisme going on here but let's get back to the food experience. They offer ONLY posole, menudo and Birria. The menudo and posole are offered in red, green and white/Blanco/clear(?) I guess. I ordered the red posole with pork. It took more than several minutes to get the food and I was the only order. Since I took it to go, I wasn't able to enjoy fresh. The food was still warm when I got home but that doesn't solve the problem. As I mentioned, I feel the owner lost his passion. That is because the base tasted so bland. I'm like 100% sure they are using the same caldo base (green/red/white) for menudo and posole, and adding the already cooked protein when it's ordered. It didn't taste cohesive, as if they were cooked together. It was just missing that touch of comfort. I really wanted to enjoy the food but there is much better posole to be had. You can tell the owner has a good heart, but I think he's lost the passion to cook. I may go back just to try the Birria. TWO STARS.

I found this spot from Google-- oops! BY GOLLY though, thank the heavens I did. This meal was EASILY one of my entire life's top rated eats. Like yes, the main dish/ platillo, but the sides... they were the best backup singers. (Their taqueria de papa were better than the ones my mom makes, shhh...)Please come to this establishment. Sell them out. Their pozole is amazing and their service is unmatched, I felt like family!

Pozoleria Acapulco is located on an industrial block of Logan Heights so it's a little off the beaten path. They do have a private lot that can hold about ten vehicles which means you don't have to park on the street. The inside had five tables that could seat four people each while an outside covered patio could hold several more tables.When I read the early reviews about this place, it looked like a pozole was the item of choice, especially based on the business name. However, when I saw that they served a two person paella, that became my pick because I could save the leftovers for another meal. The Paella Valenciana took about 15 minutes to prepare so I snacked on some complimentary chips and salsa in the meantime. The food came in a large pan that was still simmering when it was brought to my table. There were loads of shrimp, clams, mussels, calamari, and pork in the mix with Valencia rice.To my surprise, a weakness was the seasoning. Despite all the ingredients, the paella tasted bland. The stock needed more salt which I found hard to say, but it was true. The other problem was that the rice was still soft and watery. I know paella is a difficult dish to perfect, but these issues should be easy to remedy. From a value perspective, the item was a very good deal. The service was good and polite so that was not a concern. As they receive more feedback, hopefully the kitchen can improve the quality of the paella. For now, I rated Pozoleria Acapulco with 3.5 stars.

We have been wanting to try this place out for a long time. Since it was Father's Day what better way to go try out a new place. My husband loves pozole! We heading out and arrived there was ample parking. The place looked empty, after walking in we were greeting by the owner that came from outside. He was very friendly and tried to be accommodating as I told him I don't eat meat. He wanted to make me a vegan pozole (so nice of him) I wasn't really craving pozole so I declined. Online it said they have tacos as well (potato) but when we walked In he said they only have menudo and pozole. They only had soda no water to drink. Overall the place looked like it used to be the place to get pozole, but now it seems a little abandoned. My husband gave the pozole a 5/5 review and a 4 for the place as there were flys everywhere. This place has so much potential; it just needs to be seen. my husband said he would definitely come back! Hopefully, he could get some more customers soon! Also the pozole was $23 with a soda

Lifelong Mexican food lover that some how never bothered to try and or explore Pozole. One night the craving for soup hit (cold, rainy, etc). Typically we run for Pho or Ramen, but today, for some reason Pozole crossed our mind. First it is shocking how few pozole restaurants there are in San Diego - this is definitely an untapped market. Next, given our dietary restrictions, we have to have chicken or veg broth. Those two things combined can make finding authentic anything pretty impossible, but Pozole was next level hard. We found this place and they nailed it, delicious, authentic tasting, good selection/options (green, red or white), good service and total hole-in-the-wall goodness. Generous helping, warm and filling/hearty. Only complaint is we've been back a few times and they're always closed randomly or off hours. Makes it difficult for them to become a "go to" for us.

Thanks to my fellow yelper, I started craving Pozole when I never even had it before. That's because their yelp post and photos looked THAT good! Today I finally had the chance to visit this establishment. Upon arriving, my bf and I were seated and looked at the menu. I ordered the Pozole red (pork) and the Pozole green (chicken) and the flautas de pollo. As we were waiting, they gave us complimentary chips and salsa, next came out the flautas and then the soups. Flautas de pollo 5/5- this was my first time trying flautas and it was delicious! It came with some shredded lettuce,cheese, guacamole,sour cream and some Pico de Gallo. Also 2 bottle of hot sauce (red and green) but we're mild in spice.Pozole red 5/5- this one was mines and my bf favorite between the two. It came with chunks of pork. It was so good and flavorful. Pozole green 3/5- this one came with chicken. it was good but comparing the two, red is the winner! When ordering the Pozole, they also gave us a plate with a bunch of different toppings such as cilantro/onions/jalapeño, chicharrone, tostada, lime, radish, a potato filled rolled taco and even avocado which places usually charge extra for. Next time I will be coming back to try their 2 person paella for $20!! This establishment has a a few indoor seatings as well as outdoors seating and their own little parking lot! Great service, delicious food!

Go somewhere else, don't waste your time and money here as there are better options ( Super Cocina & menuderia don vicente ) Today was my 2nd time stopping by and my 1st successful attempt at getting food because the first time the owner decided to close down for service to cater some event. I pushed the inconvenience aside and decided to try again today. The place was a dirty nasty mess, every seat outside was covered by dirt and recommend you wipe your seat off before sitting down. There were four other tables with dirty bowls of food sitting out for the entire hour we were there from the parties before us. We ordered 2x pork pozole verdes and 25 mins later got a roja and verde... we were so hungry we carried on. The let down continued with very little meat in both soups, maybe 3 pieces in each bowl. The verde was pretty much all Hominy. The broth was 2 out of 5 and nothing to rave about. The couple that came after us were told there isn't anymore pozole left because they were catering some event and was very frustrated. This was at 1:30pm, they open at 11:30am... there are no prices anywhere and owner charged us $34. Learned from my mistake and go somewhere else
