Great coffee spot hidden in Shelter Island! Shaken cold brew with lavender and the Madagascar vanilla was excellent. My lady loves her white chocolate mocha with caramel drizzle. We also shared a banana nut muffin which is our favorite snack with coffee. We retuned later in the evening to try the gelato and was a perfect snack as we walked along the trail on Shelter Island.

Very cute coffee and gelato shop. It's located near the marinas in Shelter Island, so it's a pretty calm area. Great to grab a drink and do a calm walk. Service is really great!

Was walking around the area and stopped by Portside for gelato on a weekday afternoon. We were welcomed in by the sweet gals working and ordered 2 small cups of gelato, one pistachio and one strawberry. It was super cheap for both and they had quite a few flavors. They also have coffee, pastries and other drinks available. The gelato had great flavor but the pistachio was a bit gritty. Not sure if it was the actual pistachio but the flavors on both were really great! Overall a nice stop for a quick cool treat!

Nice coffee spot in Shelter Island, friendly staff and quick service. Coffee quality was also above average. About $3.25 for a large coffee. Nice seating area outside. Very dog friendly.

Portside Coffee & Gelato is more than just a café; it's a haven for coffee aficionados and gelato enthusiasts alike. Located at 2614 Shelter Island Drive, this cozy establishment offers a delightful blend of freshly brewed coffee and delectable gelato. Let's dive into the details:The Setting and Location:Shelter Island provides the perfect backdrop for this hidden gem. Imagine strolling along the marina, with the salty breeze in your hair, as you make your way to Portside. If you were staying at Humphreys, it was a mere 10-minute walk down to this delightful spot. The convenience alone makes it a must-visit.The Gelato Experience:You opted for the Salted Caramel flavor, and while it was undeniably good, there was a twist. It seems they might have mislabeled it because it packed a strong coffee taste. A delightful surprise, wouldn't you say?Gelato lovers will appreciate the variety of flavors available here. From classic favorites to inventive combinations, Portside caters to all taste buds. The Coffee Corner:Portside takes its coffee seriously. Locally roasted beans from Café Moto form the foundation of their exceptional brews.Whether you're sipping on an iced vanilla cold brew or enjoying a cappuccino, the quality shines through. And yes, even the drip coffee here is a winner!Atmosphere and Vibe:The café exudes a cozy, inviting ambiance. Picture yourself sitting by the window, gazing out at the harbor, or perhaps catching up with friends at one of the tables. It's a place where time slows down, and conversations flow freely. Why Portside Stands Out:Amidst the island's limited options, Portside Coffee & Gelato shines as one of the very few places to grab a treat.Whether you're a local or a visitor, this spot offers a delightful respite from the hustle and bustle.

I love this coffee spot. Not only do they have the best customer service but their coffee and pastries are delicious. I like that I can order decaf lattes! The iced mocha is my favorite I get it every time. The salted caramel chocolate chip cookie was so good too. Really good breakfast sandwiches also. Outdoor seating and good hours. In a great area. Come here and take a walk on the island, you won't regret it!

Now this location is awesome! There are SO many available parking spaces (yes they are metered, so save your quarters everyone!) You order inside and pay. And then they have seating directly outside with some umbrellas. And even more seating at the front of it (tall tables). Super cute location. It seems that where there's a Portside Gelato & Coffee there is also Ketch Grill & Taps! It looks small and it is, but at the same time it isn't. Why? Because they have wayy more gelato options at this location compared to the one on Embarcadero! They even let you sample a few. I can't say the gelato flavor combinations compares to An's or Gelato Paradiso-- but they got the espresso gelato flavor down. Out of all the flavors this one is always strong and so delicious. I tasted the pistachio, but it was lacking and the texture wasn't up to par. ** Espresso and Espresso Mud Pie! The mud pie flavor here tasted different than the one we got at the other location, but both tasted very delicious and creamy. They had Cafe Moto coffee in the back! And they had a pretty cool deal, if you spend $5 you can get a free Portside Coffee glass. Usually those kind of glasses are $15-25! And this glass had a really nice thick bottom to it. This definitely won't shatter like the Amazon kind. In addition they also had cheese danishes and berry danishes which looked incredible! If I didn't have two coffees before coming, I would have grabbed something to eat or tried a new drink from them. It's been 16 years since I've came to Shelter Island and it's actually pretty empty here compared to other places in San Diego. If you want to go somewhere more relaxed and not overly crowded-- come here! You can still get a view of the water, soak in the sun, and lovely nature with some great coffee-- pastries-- and gelato! Portside Gelato & Coffee? More like Gelato & Coffee in Paradise! ~ Come try for yourself!

Gelato or coffee at 9 am. Coffee was the winner had a medium brew, and she had an iced carmel macchiato and everything bagels with cream cheese, and we were off to a good start. Cool spot, transportable building with lots of character. Fair service and all-around happy people.

One of our spots in Shelter Island for good coffee, great gelato and excellent snack foods is Portside. Located next to Ketch Restaurant it's a bright cheery cafe with friendly efficient service. There are bistro tables outside and plenty of parking on the street and parking lot in front of the Brigantine. It's casual and right on the bay where boats come in. You can take your coffee and sit by the water. Very small counter area and no sitting inside but plenty of tables outside in the sunshine! One of my favorites!

Super great service, very affordable, and amazing tasting gelato! It doesn't taste artificial at ALL like most gelatos.
