Let me first say this place is a dive bar, so if that's not ur thing then skip it. But if u can get passed that, you gotta come and experience it at least once (we will be back btw). This was our 1st time coming out after stocking from afar and online. All the posts and reviews, all the pictures...we finally made our way out on a random Saturday night and we were not disappointed.. 1st place was packed (we got the last table for 2 in the entire place (inside and outside) at about 6ish. We ordered the tavern burger (smash burger), fried chicken sandwich, French fries and fry sauceI I-can see how some people wouldn't like the breadyness of the bun on the smash burger but get over it. The flavor of both were great. The fry sauce was a bit onion forward for the wife's liking but overall had great flavor. The smash burger was a great balance of meat and cheese. The chicken sandwich was crispy, spicy (from either the sauce or peppers), the fries were a great crispy salty accompaniment to both the burger and sandwich. WE WILL BE BACK and we will bring others with us.

I had not realized I haven't reviewed this place yet. Tulip is always on our list, but the distance and wait for food sometimes keeps us away. However, I was craving a smash burger so we called last night and the wait wasn't too bad. Yay! We ordered a chicken sandwich, smash burger, and some fries. The smash burger was perfection! Every bite was freaking delicious. The chicken burger was crunchy and slightly spicy. Delicious. The fries were great also. We got the fry sauce and loved that too. While we waited for food, we noticed they had slushies. And you can order them to-go! We both got the Irish coffee slushie. And they put them in fun color-changing cups!

First time here, came for the burger and to check out the vibe ... which is great, friendly staff, nice tunes.The (smash) Tavern Burger: lots of potential ... but utterly undermined by its overly large, nearly chalk-dry bun, which overwhelms and sucks the life out of the thin crispy patty. Was able to salvage the otherwise great burger by tearing off the outside of both buns, reducing them to a reasonable proportion.Check out the outstanding burger-bun program at Bar Bar to understand what's been missed at Tulip Shop.Hope they fix it because the place is otherwise a winner !

Dive-y vibe when you walk in, good tunes playing and lively atmosphere in a dark lit room with candles. The person who greeted us was very kind and told us to sit anywhere. We chose the outdoor covered patio in the back. The food.... Was unbelievable. We got the Monday special patty melt on sourdough with added jalapeños and the double double, as well as a side of onion rings. Crunchy greasy and perfect. Make sure you don't make plans after, as I needed a nap immediately! Server seemed to be having a bad day. Hopefully her service isn't like that all of the time, but giving the benefit of the doubt. Will be coming back to try all of their daily specials eventually

I've been on the hunt for a new burger spot after the go-to restaurant near my parents house closed. This place was highly rated so I finally went to check them out on a recent visit. They specialize in smash burgers and I've officially been converted!! The meat is always perfectly seasoned and gets the nice crispy edges you're looking for. The soft bun and burger sauce compliments it as well. We've now been here a few times and don't see that stopping anytime soon. I'll probably try the fried chicken sandwich on my next visit. Also the fries are great as well!! Service is super friendly and the bar itself is usually packed so that's a good sign. Apologies for not taking pics yet. The food is too good to not dig in immediately!

Came here on a Monday evening to meet some friends and it was getting packed towards 8pm. Monday evening vibes were nice and dim, a little loud too.Drinks came quickly though the food came slowly. But when it came, it was delicious. That smash burger was amazing. So good that I'll have to come back again.The two drinks we tried (I think one was called the 6 knives???) and the pretzel appetizer were great as well

Super cute little bar. Dim lit w/ nice amount of seating. Really nice outdoor patio with a good amount of seating as well. We started with the loaded fries and a wedge salad, a daiquiri and an IPA. The fries were crispy, dressed will in queso, peppers, and bacon. Absolutely delicious. When you see the fries themselves, you may think they are gonna be soggy and they most def are not! Perfect crisp. The wedge salad had a pickled celery in place of your normal green onion and that was a really nice twist. Celery is so underrated. Both drinks were legit as well. We both got the Fair Burger and added bacon and grilled jalapeños. It was fire!!! Came here after reading an Eater review about the burger being one of the best. It was solid and it didn't disappoint. Staff was super friendly, quick, and efficient. We would definitely come back!

This is for the double burger and fish sandwich. Perfect. Skip the quadruple dipped onion rings.

Saw their instagram post about getting best burger in willamette week best of Portland readers poll and decided to try it out. We were definitely not disappointed and actually came twice in one week! Super good burgers but the fries and onion rings were also very tasty. The thing that stood out to me here was their sauce game, all of the ones we tried were so so good as well. Loved their branding and was pretty cute inside. It's a little small in there and was fairly busy both times we went so might not be the best place if you have a big group. Service was no frills but we got everything with no problem so you could say it's just efficient. Definitely will be coming back!

TST is another feather in the cap of N. Killingsworth St.'s incredibly good bars with food (Old Gold, Florida Room, Chapel Pub). However there are some things I love, and am frustrated by at this one. First off, the food is solid. The fried chicken and specials are probably their peak form. An assortment of burgers looked great, and special tip the hat for the breaded pork tenderloin. The onion rings are good, tho a bit too breaded and greasy for my taste. The space is really well set up, with tables along the long side, and big one up front, a nice bar top, and a standing divider for chilling & chatting. Their draft beer list is also solid, mostly full of beers you don't see on tap everywhere else, in a range of styles. However at $8-$12 a pint, it feels pretty high for a spot like this in NoPo. I certainly wouldn't be drinking a few here on weeknights. But people seem to frequent it now so I guess they're fine with paying more than most places in town. To be fair, they also have Rainier and some cans at $4. Sandwiches are more reasonably priced, but it was disappointing they don't come with anything else. Not even some chips. You want plain fries? That's another $5. Same for a couple of onion rings. Lastly on the list of frustrations, virtually nothing is GF. Which is why it took me so long to finally get here since there's nothing my wife can enjoy, and I have to wait til she's out of town. Would it kill ya to have some GF buns on hand like virtually every other bar/restaurant in town?Otherwise I'll look forward to checking this place out on my own once in awhile when I want good beer and greasy food.
