Kinda a head scratcher as this is the third large capacity Chinese (not pan Asian) restaurant to open within a small geographical radius. Tipsy has an eye towards presentation. They just introduced a generous portion lunch special, and most importantly, better than any Chinese food around. The bar is long and stocked and there's room for 100+ taps! Currently, they offer about seven so not sure if it's just for show.Staff is friendly, so is the very visible owner. The server packaged the leftovers; at Tasty corner they hand you togo boxes to do it yourself. The Sichuan cold noodles were refreshingly delicious, there some sort of sweet caramelized spice that was very appealing. The Cold Chicken packed some heat with a medium spice level. Real good and a generous portion that could feed two maybe three.Love the Honey Walnut Shrimp, but it's different than what you might be accustomed to. First, there's no mayonnaise. And the sauce is a light citrus rather than a gooey overly sweet one.The menu also includes a four-item dim sum selection.I hope the high price points don't scare people away. But a decent deal if you're sharing.

Below average Szechuan food, I don't know why there are so many good reviews. We ordered beef and tendon in chili oil; the salt has not even melted and you can taste salt pieces. The flavor is weak.Sichuan spicy fish is very average Szechuan in the US level, aftertaste is not good meaning cheap cooking oil being used.Dan Dan noodles is spicy despite the menu saying the opposite,we complained and they gave us a non-spicy one which is tasteless. The original one is also gooey which felt like it was cooked half an hour ago. The new one did feel at least newly cooked.Despite menu having spice level choices, nobody bothered to ask us.Not going ever again, there are much better Szechuan food in town, eg Sichuan Taste in downtown. My wife said hometown taste in cedar mill is also much better than this.

Stumbled across this place while out with friends. We sat outside because we had a dog with us. Service was fast and great. Very attentive. We all loved our food. The green onion pancakes were delicious as was the cucumber salad. The portions are huge so don't let the cost scare you away. We also had the Beef Noodle, Sweet and Sour Pork and shrimp fried rice. If I find myself in this part of Portland again, I would definitely eat here.

Just found this brand new spot downtown. Very authentic Szechuan food and by far the best Chinese food I've found in Portland to date. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a real taste of Szechuan without the plane ride.

Tipsy is Tip Top! What a great new spot near PSU. Loved the ambiance - classy, open and elegant. We had an early dinner, service was stellar, the owner very personable, and their food was spot-on flavorful with a well-rounded menu. Definitely will be back!

My work colleagues and I went to Tipsy Teapot for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to learn the dan dan noodles were vegetarian. I ordered them and they were very good! They reminded me of my favorite dan dan noodles from Davis Noodle City (Davis, CA). The noodles could have used more szechuan peppercorn and possibly more sauce, but I overall recommend this dish. I'm glad Tipsy Teapot is on PSU's campus and plan to come here regularly. I have been looking for dan dan noodles prepared in this manner for a long time. I look forward to trying the green onion pancake, orange peel tofu, and chong qing spicy noodles in the future

Food: it is really just okay. There are way tastier Chinese restaurant nearby. The soup dumplings tasted a bit weird and have very thick wraps. Their entree is also questionable. BUT: The price is really cheap! And it has lunch menu until 3:30 which is a huge plus. If you don't care that much for authentic Chinese food, then this may not be a bad place to go.

As former Peace Corps Volunteers stationed in Sichuan, we can attest this delicious food is Sichuan-legit! The Mapo Doufu has huajiao and is tingly-spicy, the green beans are blistered and crisp, and the Yuxiang eggplant is addictive! We're heading back again tonight to explore the menu and have more of that eggplant...What a find! Easy parking nearby (hello Parking Kitty) in a garage right across the street. Service was excellent as well.

Genuinely fantastic Sichuan food that just opened up in a convenient location, in the middle of PSU. I could not be more excited to make this a regular lunch spot as the school year starts up again. Things are still clearly getting started up, but the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and again, SUCH good food at an affordable price. I split the Pine & Cypress Crispy Ribs and the Yuxiang Eggplant, both were served family style and with a side of rice were perfect for a larger dinner for 2. Very excited to try more of their menu.
