Unbelievably good fish and chips. Some of the best I've tasted. No, I'm serious. The chowder has a great texture and very strong bacon and black pepper flavor. It's very hearty, not thin at all. The coleslaw was excellent, even the cocktail and tartar sauce were amazing. If you want fish and chips, just go. Yes, it is expensive but the fish tastes like it's as fresh as possible.

Crinkle fries? Is there anything better than a crinkle French fry. Add a dash of pepper and pinch of sea salt, and the great crinkle fry becomes like a taste from heaven. Couple that with a fresh cut of halibut, and you've got the perfect fish and chips combination. The Original Halibuts delivers. In so many ways. Hands down. I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that it is the best fish and chips I've ever had. And I mean that, sincerely. The couple that own the place are charming and completely attentive to the food and the people. Located at the whimsical Piedmont Station food carts, Halibuts is the anchor experience that draws in the crowds. Do yourself a favor and get some fresh fish and chips from Halibuts before global warming vanquishes the fish population. Oh man, so sad!

Eminently friendly couple serving up some fresh, tasty, crispy fried halibut and chips. My wife and I split a 4-piece which, at $40 a basket, we hoped would be enough to fill us up. Thankfully, the halibut pieces were not only massive, they were also tender, flaky, juicy and piping-hot! Among the best in the city, if you ask me!Additionally, the Piedmont Station food cart pod is probably the most aesthetic in Portland, and has a solid variety of dining options. Although we initially came here to try another cart, which was closed outside of their posted operating hours, their loss is Halibut's gain (and ours)! We'll definitely be back!

Fish and chips. This is the real deal. We ordered cod/chips: Fresh. Hot. Fast. And served by really nice folks behind the counter. I'm not a huge coleslaw fan, but their slaw was creamy/sweet. The portion sizes were generous. Can't wait to return for more!

Drove out of our way as we heard this was the place to get fish 'n' chips. It just wasn't worth the drive. unfortunately. While the cod and halibut were good, the pieces were very small for the price. Definitely not the same as the sizes that were in posted pictures. Also tried the chowder and it was too peppery..and I like pepper. There are lots of seats outside and in the shade which was nice. It wasn't too busy for a Thursday at lunchtime.

Probably one of the BEST fish and chips, we've tried traveling along the Oregon coast/going through Oregon. The fish quality is amazing. Especially their Alaskan halibut. You HAVE to get what they specialize in, please. You will not be disappointed. The breading on the fish... wow so crispy flaky, nice and thin, where you won't get sick of it. The breading doesn't overpower the fish. The fries, I feel are just as important when it comes to fish and chips. These were nicely seasoned with the prefect crunch. Bruhhh don't even get me started on their clam chowder, soo yummy. Very tasty. Only thing, however I wished that the clam chowder had more chunky pieces of clams, I love being able to chew on them.

A really nice place to sit in and eat. The service is great and the food is even better, so definitely grab some fish and chips, but other stuff on the menu is also delectable to stuff your face with. I really like how they fry the fish and give it a nice flavor, especially the tenderness and light crispy to the edges of the fried fish. I just wish they had double fried fries! That's a San Fran thing, but it's great.

One thing I love about Portland is its food truck culture. I found this little place right here on Yelp. There's not a lot to say other than the fish was absolutely delicious, crispy, and hot. I had prawns, they're massive so 4 was definitely enough. The fries were seasoned and also hot when it received. You can get vinegar and other condiments. I liked the system overall in where you are given a pager that sets off, it helps with customer flow and allows you too look around the market while waiting. The owners are wonderful and very kind. Excellent service. I have this on my list to visit when I come to Portland again. 4/5

Wow! Don't let this being a food truck stop you from going. We're from Phoenix, so we know good seafood... no we actually do because we go out of state to eat it!What can I say about The Original Halibuts? The couple(?) running it are super kind and helpful. They want you to enjoy yourself! We got a 4 piece Alaskan Halibut and 2 cups of Chowder and boy oh boy... we were in for a treat. The chowder was warm and creamy and thick, perfect on a cool, dreary day. The fish, well, let's just say we are still talking about it. It was flaky and the batter was perfect. I will come back here specifically for this fish. The fries and homemade sauces were amazing as well. THANK YOU ORIGINAL HALIBUTS If 6 Stars were possible, this place deserves it!
